Monochrome Challenge

This week the challenge on http://rainbowladyschallengeblog.blogspot.com/ was to create a card using only one colour of the rainbow. I'm afraid I have cheated terribly and ended up adding glitter to my image and then mounting it on silver and finally on an acetate square card.
My intentions were good!!!
I started by stippling two shades of adirondack blue ink on to white glossy card. Then I stamped the fairy on the moon image in the dark blue on to the stippled background.
The inside of the card reads ...
'Reach for the stars'

Paper Take Weekly Challenge - 21st birthday card

I really wanted to use this sketch at http://papertakeweekly.blogspot.com/again using just black and white (then I got tempted to add a bit of silver). The number paper is from DCWV and the embossed numbers were made with a cuttlebug folder. The number stamps are from a set I got years ago from a little rubber stamp making shop in York called Make your Mark.
There's enough space on the black circle to add a name at a later date if need be.

Handmade backgrounds - The Arty Girlz Challenge

Having just bought a set of Autumn Leaves clear swirl stamps I was really pleased to see this challenge on http://artygirlzchallengeblog.blogspot.com/.
Guest Designer Paula said "I love patterened paper very much but it is far too easy to whack on cards etc. So for my theme, I want to see handmade backgrounds. Get those fingers inky & painted & make a custom piece of paper/card for your design"
For my design I didn't exactly get all that inky but there was a lot chalk around and many different stamps being inked up. I chose card stock that already had a misty blue look to it and stamped the different swirls all over. Then to emphasise the misty effect I used blue chalk to deepen the edges and the swirl pattern. The James Dean quote was stamped on to plain card and then mounted on the blue.
I couldn't resist adding diamonds on parts of the design - although it was hard to part with so many on one card as they are my favourite embellishment at the moment and this card took the last of my tiny ones.
The swirl stamps are by Autumn Leaves and the quote is one of a few on a sheet of clear stamps by Heidi Grace.

Papertakeweekly Challenge

This week the challenge at http://papertakeweekly.blogspot.com/ is a sketch by Katharina. On my card I have used DCWV checked paper teamed with green and pink card. The ballerina image and words are from a sheet of rubber stamps by an American company called My Heart Stamps for you. The little ballet dancer is called Brianna.
Looking at the card now I wish I had textured the bottom piece of green too but ah well!!

Ismaki Challenge 16

Well I have finally managed to do the ismaki challenge at http://ismaki.wordpress.com/on the correct week. Unfortunately in my excitement I missed a part of the instructions which included using four patterned papers. Ah well I did use the sketch (which is a really interesting one) and I did use many different papers but not all patterned. One of the papers used is really unusual in that it looks like it has netting stuck over - perfect for a fisherman image I thought. Unfortunately it doesn't show in the photo.
The card is bigger than I have done before and measures just over 8" x 8". I wanted to give myself plenty of space for the word 'Father' and the quote. The image and the patterned backing paper are again from the CD 'Passion for Fashion'.

Girly but blue...

This week's challenge on http://magnoliachallengeblog.blogspot.com/ was to make a card for a girl but it had to be BLUE!!!

My card is a birthday one and I've used the layout from http://ismaki.wordpress.com/ - but as per usual I'm very late as the sketch I've used is sketch 14. Ah well one day I will be on the right week at the right time!!

Love this hat!!

Love this image - such a gentle sophisticated lady - oh how I wish I looked like that in a hat! My daughter says I have to have one for her graduation which fortunately isn't while next year so I have plenty of hat trying on time to go yet.

This card is made using an image and two backing papers from the 'Passion for Fashion' CD. I printed both the topper and the backing papers out on silk photo paper. Love the gentle finish it has to it.

The layout of the card is CPS 45 from http://cardpositioningsystems.blogspot.com/. Thank you for sharing these wonderful card layouts. They are so useful and inspiring.

Exciting News and new cards...

I have been keeping this news to myself for a whole week now as I didn't want to say anything until I had a couple of cards done and ready to upload to go with the announcement.

My very good friend, Wendi, has asked me to be the very first member on her design team!! Me on a design team - oh wow!!!Wendy is a very clever lady who with her daughter, Emma, designs some fabulous CDs for card making and scrapbooking.

These cards are from her 'Passion for Fashion' CD which is my favourite at the moment.

Thank you so much to great friends who have become followers of my blog. Love having you around.
