Q is for Queen!!!

Hello everyone!! it's a brand new challenge at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers ~~ Q is for Queen!!

Edna our Queen

To tell the truth I really stretched the theme this time I have only one digi stamp related to a Queen and I'm sure I've used it multitude of times for the Q prompt. So while searching my many, many digi folders I came across an image that I thought would work so at last minute I decided to make it into an Artist Trading Card (hindsight I should have made a set, but there is still time)

I fussy cut the image and flat attached it the sentiment also came with it, which was the reason I chose the image. I also had the perfect paper from "Simple Stories". Found some teal rhinestones for the "crown and earring".

Close up of the card, check out the crowns on the paper, and of course the sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by today and check out the much better representation of the theme at the Main Blog.

A Tiny Craft (ATC) Challenge ~~ September

How can it be the 15th of September already? Wasn't labour day just a few days ago? Fall has been beautiful but sadly by the time the October challenge arrives I will have closed the cottage and all my time can be spent in my craft space.  My new to me desk i
working out great, it needs organizing but when I make a card I put it on the top shelf (keeps it safe from "paws")  Since it is the 15th of the month it's a new challenge at A Tiny Craft (ATC) Challenge and the theme is SNARKY!!  I paired stamps from Riley & Company with Chris's sentiments from Stamplorations, added cardstock layers an embellishment and voila they are done.

Since these are retro stamps I went totally retro with Black and White. The "enamel" dots are the last of my homemade black ones. layered the images on black then on a white base added the sentiment and called them done.

Here is the close up of the individual ATCs.

This is Coffee Lady

This stamp is called Coffee Carl

This Retro stamp is Wondering Midge

Lastly this one is called Ethel

There are many many more Retro Funny bone stamps in their store.

Thanks for stopping by today and check out the main blog to see what the rest of the design team have made.

Ode to Lindsey.

For the Ode to Lindsey theme at A Tiny Craft (atc) challenge I looked through her posts and found that with most challenges she dug through her stash of inky backgrounds so that was my starting point, she also liked to use die cuts. Although difficult to go through her blog yet again it was a lovely read, her blog posts were always interesting, comical and informative.  I decided to try a drink die I've had in my stash and I might have used it or maybe not.

I checked out the fancy drinks that are served in a Hurricane glass, and was so surprised at how many there was. I picked one of my favourites (can you guess which one?) and three that were just pretty and interesting.
First I scrounged around and found some oxide ink backgrounds I bordered them on black and then on an ATC base 2 1/2 X 3 1/2. Then I die cut the die 4 times in white, (14 pieces) and coloured the pieces as shown then paper pieces the drink and lemon slice.  The names were computer generated.

And now a closer look at each one.

Interesting fact a Blue Hawaiian is different than a Blue Hawaii

The original Singapore Sling was created sometime between 1910 & 1915 in Singapore.
Interesting fact is that you won't find 2 recipes the same.

Hurricane drinks were invented at pub in New Orleans to use up an abundance of Rums in 1940

June Bug or June Bug Annihilator was first made in a TGI Fridays Restaurant in Busan South Korea, and is a favourite in most TGIF restaurants.

Stop the presses....I found a purple background just the right size and made one more ATC this one is in a favourite colour of Lindsey, Donna and myself, any other purple lovers out there?

Purple Zydeco

Because this was a late entry the name of the drink did not get computer generated at home, not much history on the drink but it's not any less potent than the other 4. I added a few more fruit die cuts in lieu of a type written name. I'm sure Lindsey would get a giggle over the lemon slice with eyes and feelers.

There you are, my Ode to Lindsey who lost her battle with ovarian cancer in July,
We lost a talented team mate she will be missed by all crafters and friends.

Spring has Sprung and time for May Flowers....

Challenge # 8 at A Tiny Craft (ATC) Challenge is Flowers, it doesn't need to be spring flowers as long as it is a flower it's acceptable. I think the problem will be picking the flowers you want to use, die cuts, artsy flowers, real looking flowers, even poinsettias (was my second choice)  I have a set of 4 "dotty flowers" from Sunshine Designs (now closed) but if you want to have them they are at The Frogs Whiskers   which is a Canadian company located in Ontario. They are the perfect size for ATCs.

One day I was playing around with photo paper, copic markers and a large zip lock bag and made a few backgrounds just for practice and the colours were perfect for how I coloured my "dotty" flowers. The red background has gold leaf on it, I used glue and some gold leaf from the dollar store and it worked well. The flowers were fussy cut (as I was cutting I really wondered why I wanted to stress myself with such fine work, it might be tedious and time consuming but looks great. I added some tiny script words and some of my "homemade" enamel drops. They were made with Perler beads and a toaster oven one Sunday at the cottage (outside)

Here are some individual pictures of the cards.
Card #1

Card #2

A better look at the gold leaf design.

Card #3

I have to admit this one is my favourite (don't tell the other 3)

Last but not least Card #4

Glad you lasted until the end of the picture show and hope you enjoyed seeing my Dotty (funky) Flowers.

I'm adding this to:

ATCs with Heart ~~ #116 Everything Goes
Snippets Playground Challenge ~~ Challenge 428, everything used was from my file folder bin of scraps.

Thanks for stopping by today and head over to the Main Blog and see the gorgeous floral ATCs the rest of the team made to inspire you to join us. ATCs are the perfect craft to use up your stash of "snippits" AKA scraps.

Happy Holidays from A Tiny Craft ATC Challenge.

For the fifth challenge at  A Tiny Craft ATC Challenge the theme is Happy Holidays

and of course in the hustle and bustle of getting cards, and presents and decorating I decided to make something with many, many, many pieces and here is the results.

It's a grouping of 4 as I have plans for 3 of them, I am putting them in a sports card holder to give to the great grands.  I will continue to make monthly cards to add to the holder.

A single atc, I did put acetate in for the window and the tail lights are Starform stickers,

For an added element I added holly leaves and berries.

Santa's license plate...HoHoHo

It's Pink Halloween....

To honour breast cancer in October there are Pink challenges, Pink Halloween, Pink Christmas and Everything Pink. Since I was stamping, colouring and fussy cutting for A Tiny Card (ATC) challenge blog little pink butterfly Monica didn't quite make the fussy cutting part and I decided it would pair better with the other ATCs if she was wearing orange, of course I just couldn't let her sit in the damaged pile and was not putting her in the trash bucket either so I made another ATC for a couple of challenges. ATCs around the World is Pink Halloween and as always Two Old Bats Halloween Challenge lastly because I used that gate die for the first time it's NBUS time.

Leftover bats and a pumpkin basket to go along with the super cute Monica in her butterfly costume. The gate comes in two pieces one side is attached to the gate so after gluing it down and trimming the leftover gate was glued to the other side. waste not want not. I'm sure the gate is atleast a year old and never been out of it's package. The sentiment is part of a large stamp from Kraftin' Kimmie stamps with many Halloween sayings, check them out here on my blog.

Close up of Monica Mouse, she is so cute.

In the Water.................

One of my teamies posted an ATC for ATCs with Heart, now I did have that blog posted in my "challenges" but you never seem to go and look but when something pops up in my feed I take notice. I'm hoping to enter more often. Anyway the challenge is Water and I knew exactly what I wanted to do.

First I made two backgrounds and used one for an ATC that I really didn't like so decided just to keep the second background. as you see on the bottom is brown for sand and grren for grass, when I was the water challenge at ATCs with Heart I knew it was perfect. I cut the grass out of foam core and coloured it with alcohol markers as I wanted it to have a liitle dimension,  The fish is from an old Stampin'up set called fishy friends and it was colour with spica gltter pens. I added the bubbles with nuvo drops. (still need practice)

Close up of the cutie pie fishy but you can't see the glitter. Lime and Blue are one of my favourite colour duos.

It's time for a Happy Little Stampers May ATC Challenge!!!

How are things in your corner of the world? Pretty quiet for me but I'm getting a few cards done and a lot of baking. I think I should reverse things and make more cards and less baking.  I can't even go to the cottage as my permanent address outside Haldimand/Norfolk counties, here is hoping it isn't for long, I love crafting there and taking my pictures outside by the lake.

The Happy Little Stamper's May artist trading card/coin challenge is Rainbow,  so let's see your interpretation of the theme. I changed my mind many times even the day I made the ATC I switched gears and made something totally different.

After I had cut seven 1/4 inch strips of 7 colours I was going through the dies to find a cloud die set and while going through the box I spotted the Hot Air Balloon die and wow it had 7 spots to put the colours of the rainbow in, I used a patterned piece of cardstock for the sky layer, the balloon was cut from white foam core, I cut the dream 4 times and layered it to I was popped up, lastly I added (gasp) 5 mini sequins.

Close up of the sentiment

another angle.

Thanks for stopping today  If you haven't checked out the rest of the ATCs from the rest of the design team head over to the MAIN BLOG.

Happy Little Stampers April ATC Challenge is live!!!

Wow I can't belive we are in April already, it's a beautiful day, sunshine and some warmth is in the books for today. Unfortunately we have to look at it from our homes, so many more businesses are being relagated to on-line and pick up at the store. I just tried to manouver a site and gave up it was very discouraging, I'm really not out of anything, I took three separate days, 7 a.m. three different stores and got almost everything I needed. The good thing is I have more time for crafting.  Well on to the Happy Little Stampers April ATC challenge.

There you are the challenge is make your own background.  I'm not really big on making my own background I'm not very proficient with stencils, paste, sprays or anthing mixed media related but I do like to make galaxy backgrounds which works well with some cute little alien monsters.

The aliens were coloured with spica glitter pens and cut out with the accompanied dies, I also cut three more "aliens" and layered them o it popped them up on the 2 1/2 X 3 1/2 base. added a scattering of tiny sequins (I am so sequin challenged) and a sentiment.

First is my "greeter" coloured him like Mikey.

I picked smile for her sentiment because she has a big smile .

Laugh because he needs a good tickle.

Now this guy is just FUN!!

There you have my ATCs that I made my own background, now it's your turn to join in and make your own background and post it for the HLS April ATC Challenge. Now for more   awesome handmade backgrounds check out the Main Blog.

It's Time......

It's time to enter my ATC in the Happy Little Stampers ATC challenge for August ~~ Theme Time.

I made a Artist Trading Coin for the challenge, the base is a scalloped die cut from Black foam core, I only had the white centered black foam core at the cottage but it made a good base to put my die cut pocket watch on, gave it lots of stability.  At home I have a 2 1/2 inch punch to use but here at the cottage I had to go with the scalloped circle as it was the official size.
