Some things, they say, are worth celebrating, and for us on Lard Island, there can be no greater reason for popping the odd cork than winning two of the hobby's most coveted awards, the Wargames Illustrated award for the Best Ruleset going to Chain of Command and Best New Ruleset to What a Tanker. But this is also a double celebration, as Chain of Command has achieved victory in the Best Ruleset category for twoyears in a row. Let us be honest about this, we are chuffed to bits! So chuffed, in fact, that we thought we'd celebrate with a fantastic sale, with both award-winning rulesets reduced to just £20.00 GBP and, to make it even better, we have done the same with Sharp Practice, which has never won a bean but is still a rather smashing game. This deal extends to all of the bundles which include these rules, so there are some really great deals to be had.Link: Too Fat Lardies
A sneak preview of what's coming next month: The tank game to top them all; "What a Tanker!". Have you got what it takes to command a tank in WWII? Can you get sufficient kills to become an Ace? Are you a complete and utter tanker?Link: Picture on facebook
Great news for lovers of Sharp Practice this week, as we see the arrival of The Swamp Fox, a fantastic supplement covering the actions of Francis Marion in South Carolina in 1780 and 1781 with twelve scenarios, nine complete campaign backgrounds, and a campaign environment based on the environs of Georgetown, South Carolina.Link: Too Fat Lardies
From the pen of veteran game designer Dave Brown, Reisswitz Press brings you General d'Armee, a fast-play, exciting and challenging Napoleonic ruleset designed for games from just a few Brigades a side all the way up to large multi-player games with who armies on the table. In addition to the 108 page rulebook, General d'Armee also comes with two A4 size playsheets, both laid out in color coded sections and laminated for longevity.Link: Too Fat Lardies
Sharp Practice are rules for large skirmishes covering the whole black powder or musket era, from 1700 to 1865 and with huge possibility to extend that further. The rules include lists for the French-Indian Wars, the AWI, the Peninsular War, the ACW, and the Indian Mutiny, with more free lists coming in the next few weeks and beyond.Link: Too Fat Lardies
A typical force for Sharp Practice is around 40 to 50 figures, so this is a great opportunity to start a new period with limited outlay or to resurrect projects started, but never completed.
The rules have a totally new command system which really puts the players in charge and making big command decisions from turn one. Fast and fun and easy to learn.
