Thanks So Much Mixed Media

I have a mixed media thank you card for you today using some of my Want2Scrap® staples.  I first took a neutral patterned paper and water colored it randomly.  I then stamped the Penny Black’s Floral Applique stamp along the bottom using Clearsnap inks.
PB-Destash-W2S
I covered Want2Scrap’s Nestaboard Labels Eleven (using Spellbinders‘ Labels 11 dies) and Chipboard Clouds with patterned papers, then inked the edges. I painted the Chipboard Houses with DecoArt gesso, then placed a Heart Bling. I adhered them right on the seam. I glued a piece of SRM Sticker doily on the bottom. The sentiment, adorned with Want2Scrap Baby Bling white pearls, is also by SRM Sticker. Finally, I added the corduroy button stringed with burlap twine.

Delicate Mixed Media Butterfly Card

I have a delicate, very feminine (perfect for my girly girls) card today. I used two kinds of media for coloring this card including Distress inks and pigment inks.

I first smeared the Worn Lipstick pad directly on the paper, brushed water over it, then when it's dry, I stamped Penny Black's text background in pigment ink to get this background effect. For the butterfly, I inked Penny Black's Soft Wings stamp with the same distress ink, spritzed it with water before stamping. The sentiment is by SRM Stickers.
PB-SRM-Butterfly
The teal butterfly was die cut using Spellbinders' Wonderful Wings. To color it, I smeared Evergreen Bough on my plastic surface, spritzed it with water, then wiped my butterfly die cut through it. The pretty rose is by Want2Scrap. The sequence was a local find (yay!). Adhering them one by one would be a challenge if I didn't have my handy Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L Dodz Small. They're just the perfect size for those tiny embellishments.

I'm entering this to the following challenges: Seize the Sketch (layout), The Shabby Tearoom, Card Mania, Word Art Wednesday, Altered Eclectics, and Vintage Stamping. Have a great day!

Beautiful View, Vintage Fashion and New OWH Winner

We have had wonderful weather here and enjoying being outside. I finally put out some potted flowers and can't believe I waited this long to do it. Here is the view from my house. Our terrace is the perfect place for reading, having coffee and entertaining friends. I have even held craft classes here, but sometimes the wind makes a mess of our projects. :) God truly is the most amazing artist. And I am thankful that we get to express creativity ourselves having been made in His image.
I have a thank you card for you today that was inspired by vintage couture. I used some lovely Graphic 45 papers as a background for this card that I stitched in place.  I then placed an SRM Stickers doily off center. I then adhered Spellbinders die cut and Nestabling Petite Scalloped Circle Sm Black Rhinestones on top of the doily. I saved the cut portions of the die cut and doily to embellish other parts of the card.
W2S-G45-SB-3
The Want2Scrap Dress Form Silhouette – Card Sized (2 Pack) fits perfectly with this Graphic 45 paper. I placed the doily scrap as a skirt and Sleek Strips Pearls-White pearls as a belt on the dress form. The chipboard bird is from Bird Flourish – Chipboard and colored on the edges with Clearsnap white pigment ink. For the wing, I placed 3 72 Count – Teardrop Bling – White Pearls and a black pearl (from 72 Count – Black Pearls – Self Adhesive) for the eye. The sentiment is by Penny Black. which is anchored by a big Bulk Bling black pearl and the cut scrap from the off center die cut.

My First Ever Mixed Media Canvas

I am excited to share with you my first ever mixed media canvas loaded with my favorite Want2Srap® products. I am still new to this new art form and admit that I struggled with the messiness and randomness (as in collages) of it. So, I thought the beauty of art is you can make it personal with your own style. Here is my take of a shabby and "clean and ordered" mixed media canvas. The piece is 5" x 7".
MM-W2S-canvas
The first thing I did was cover Want2Scrap chipboards (Clouds, Houses, Fences) with DecoArt gesso then let them dry. I decoupaged the top half with some torn blue Graphic 45 papers.
MM-W2S-canvas4
The bottom half is covered with burlap, which I secured with a glue gun. I then adhered my different elements: clouds, house, sentiment, fence and Finesse Swirl pearls, which I divided into two parts: one is placed above the fence (photo below) and the other as smoke from the chipboard house chimney (photo above). I adhered a thin pink lace on the fence.
MM-W2S-canvas2
I left the "Love" chipboard as is because it coordinates well with the burlap. I spelled the rest of the sentiment using Authentique letter stickers. I added some Hot Pink pearls to highlight "lives." I also layered "here" with two kinds of letter stickers to make it stand out.
MM-W2S-canvas3
I then die cut several flower and leave templates using Spellbinders dies (Spiral Blossom One and Bitty Blossoms) from various coordinating Graphic 45 pattern papers. I adhered a big rolled flower with a big Hot Pink pearl on the center, along with a strip of lace on the roof, on the chipboard house. The other rolled flowers are glued along the bottom to anchor the whole piece. I also used various Scrapbook Adhesives by3L products on this canvas.
MM-W2S-canvas1
I have made a few more canvases and will share them with you on future posts. I think you will see how quickly I evolved in my mixed media art, from this clean and ordered style to a more eclectic "messy" type. :) The layout is inspired by the Cardabilities #98. I'm also entering this to the Crazy 4 Challenge #235 (Bingo using flowers, sentiment and bling).

Beautiful Dahlia Birthday

I have a vintage inspired card for you today using my Penny Black Sweet Dahlia stamp set. I colored it with Copic markers. It's been a while since I used my markers. The circle sentiments is from the ...Wishes set, which was die cut using Spellbinders Classic Circle dies. The papers are Prima. I distressed, stitched and inked edges of the different layers. Scrapbook Adhesives by3L Foam squares come in handy for the layers. Pearls by Want2Scrap.

It has been raining here, so I wasn't able to photograph my card well. I like to use natural light. The photo above was taken in the shade. Here's a better look at the flower.

The sketch is inspired by Retro Sketches #111. I'm also entering this to the SSS Monday Challenge to use a big stamp.

Elegant Wedding Card

I have a very fancy and elegant card today that is perfect for a wedding or anniversary. We have many friends getting married the next few months, so I'd better stock up on these. I'm playing along SRM Sticker's new challenge blog. The theme this month is celebrations. It's no secret I love their products.

The papers and chipboard are from  Graphic 45′s Couture Collection. The doily and sentiment are by SRM Stickers. The beautiful aqua die cut peeking from under the doily is by Spellbinders.
W2S-G45-SB-1
The focal frame is also die cut with Spellbinders and embellished with its coordinating Want2Scrap’s Fancy Tags 3 Pearls. I also used Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L E-Z Runner and foam squares.

We have a dear pastor friend visiting and teaching Biblical Counseling here right now. I was able to go to the first 4 hours while my girls were in school. It was so refreshing and am looking forward to more teaching from the Bible the rest of the week. Have a great day!

Vintage Cards with Quietfire Designs Cut Files

I am guest posting for Quietfire Designs this month. Today, I am highlighting the QFD cut files that you can purchase HERE. These cut files are so delicate and I was afraid my Silhouette wouldn't cut them right, but was I wrong! I love their elegant design and they make a great focal point.
QFD-Friends
My first card uses the Friend cut file and is vintage shabby with girly pink all over.  The doily is by SRM Stickers. I also embellished with a Spellbinders Moroccan die cut, Want2Scrap pearls, paper flower and seam binding.
QFD-Friends1
My second card is also vintage shabby, but milder on the girly scale (just my style). This time the focal point is the lovely Thank You cut file. I did some distressing and stitching on the edges and placed buttons to matched the strip of patterned paper (from Crate Paper's Maggie Holmes collection).
QFD-Friends2
I think this is the first time in a while that I didn't do any stamping on my cards. With these stunning Quietfire Design cut files, I didn't need to. The cut files added more dimension and a different look from my usual stamped cards. And I love the results! On Friday, I have another guest post for another favorite company that offers so many different products I love.

Destashing: 2 Cards, Similar Layout, Colors

As promised, I have more cards using the same Crate Paper scraps that I just have to get rid of. You can see the other cards HERE. Both use the same background paper and similar layouts. I used SRM Stickers doilies and some lovely Penny Black stamps.

For the first card, I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut the feathers. I then stamped in the inside with PB background stamps and inked the edges with the same ink. The little tag is from one of my new sets, Blooming Tags. If you have my Spellbinders' Home Sweet Home dies, the small tag stamps fit nicely inside one of the tag dies.
PB-Destash-Feathers
I took this photo in direct sunlight, so it's hard to see, but the tag has a stamped flower background in flight pink ink.
PB-Destash-Feathersd
My second card uses the PB Floral Applique stamps. The sentiment is by SRM Stickers, which was cut with Spellbinders Classic Circle die.
PB-SRM-HB
The flower is colored with Copic markers. The pearls are by Want2Scrap.
PB-SRM-HB2
I hope you all had a great weekend. Mine will be spent with lots of cleaning and, since we've been enjoying gorgeous spring weather, I'll probably end up hanging out with my girls outside. Sometimes, that means just reading outside. And maybe a long walk with Max, our spoiled dog. :)

Fairy Birthday Card and Winner

I hope you all had a great weekend. Mine was wonderful. It was sunny and warmer than usual. Snow has melted and I didn't need to wear my marshmallow jacket outside. :) It's a little colder today, but it's not supposed to last. I believe this is the shortest winter we've ever had here.

My card today is one I made for my youngest who loves pink, purple and fairies. It's hard to see, but the tag says, "Celebrate" and it's from my now retired TCM set. It was die cut using Spellbinders' die. The papers and image panel are Graphic 45. The flower is by Prima. The panel was framed with Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L Photo Corners. And the pearls are Want2Scrap.
Fairy-Celebrate
Finally, the winner of my giveaway is...CARRIE R. Please send me an email (via Contact tab above) and under subject, please type "Penny Black Feb 2014 giveaway." Thank you all for entering. I will have another giveaway soon.

I love you by E.B.Browning

Here is another Valentine card in a vintage shabby chic style that I made for one of my daughters. The lovely sentiment is by QuietFire Designs. Don't you just love it? The elegant calligraphy complements this lovely quote from one of our most beloved poets, Elizabeth Barret Browning. I remember memorizing her most famous work, How Do I Love Thee?, in elementary school because I was enamored by her poetry.
QF-Love-Card
I watercolored the background for the quote to match the Pink Paislee papers. The pearls are Want2Scrap and the panel was framed with Spellbinders' Exquisite Labels 11 die.

Pink Valentine Card

I made a few Valentine cards for my sweet girls. Here is one of them that I shared on the Want2Scrap blog earlier this week.  Of course, it has to be pink. :)

The papers are Pink Paislee. The bling and chipboard are by Want2Scrap. The sentiment and heart sticker are from SRM Stickers. And the circles were die cut using Spellbinders Classic Circle dies. I also used my super-duper SA by 3L EZ Runner and foam squares.
W2S-Val-Card2

I have some newly released products through Penny Black and Spellbinders. I will share those next week. Have a great weekend! I think I will. We are experiencing spring-like weather right now and hopefully, it will last a while. :)

Vintage Thank You

Happy Monday! One reason it's happy is it's the middle of January and we don't have snow! I'm enjoying this unusual warm winter, but I think it'll change soon. :)

My card today is another Thank You card that uses some holiday papers, City Sidewalks by Pink Paislee.  I love it when I can use holiday products for non-holiday occasions. I die cut the side border using Spellbinders's Classic Scallop Edgeabilities. The elegant sentiment is from Penny Black's Flower Gallery stamp set.
Thank-you!
I added a little Want2Scrap pearl to highlight the girl's coat and another on the sentiment banner.
Thank-you-det
Have a great week!

Christmas Thank You

I apologize for being absent here. Christmas just kind of crept up on me and was so busy with travels, cooking, baking and hosting. It's been a long time since we spent the holidays with family, so this year has been a real blessing to us! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, full of wonderful memories.

I have a thank you card today that uses some holiday papers, City Sidewalks, by Pink Paislee. I inked the ephemera elements before adhering. I used lots of Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L here.
Thank-you-PP
The sentiment is by Penny Black. The border is cut using Spellbinders Classic Scallop Edgeabilities. I adhered Want2Scrap pearls on the top corners of the Main Street card and the sentiment banner. This is a good idea for using up your Christmas papers.

Have a great weekend. I'm sure we'll be hitting the theaters with my girls and looking forward to a relaxing time.Photobucket
