Ice skating princess!

(Please scroll down for my La-La Land Crafts DT post!)

It's new release week over at Alicia Bel and there are three new super cute digis to choose from!  Here is my DT make using the sweet little Ice Skating Princess...

I couldn't resist making another shaker card - they are so fun to make!  I used some K and Company papers, a Lawn Fawn Forest Border die and lots of Doodlebug sequins for lots and lots of sparkle!  I'm going to give this card to one of my best friends for her birthday which is in the Winter - she's going to love this!

Check out the rest of the design team's sweet makes over at the blog here!

Baby it's cold outside

Hi everyone!  I'm here today to share this fun Christmas card...

I love this little guy!  He's from the Brrr stamp set for A Jillian Vance Design and I also used the snowflake stamp from the set too.  I used K and Company papers and created the snowline with some Glossy Accents sprinkled with American Crafts glitter to make it pop.  Here's a look at the whole set...

Isn't it fab?  I love the little outfits and the igloo and the sentiments are so cute!  I can see I'll be making quite a few of my Christmas cards this year using this set!  I'm off now - enjoy the rest of your day!

Whimsie Doodles April new release!

Oh, I love the 5th of each month because that means there's a new Whimsie Doodle release!  And this is another set of gorgeous sweetness - a mixture of sweet girls and Easter fun!

This month illustrator, Melyssa, has created a more grown up girl, perhaps a big sister to our favourite Lizzie!  Here is my Doodlelicious Diva make using Skinny Jeans and Sweater...

Isn't she beautiful?  I love her eye lashes and her fab outfits - this is me on the weekend!  I matched her up with K & Company papers to create those fishtail banners and finished off with a My Favorite Things cie cut daisy.

Check out more Doodlelicious Diva sweetness over at the blog here.  I'll be back tomorrow with my All Dressed Up DT post - ttfn!

Bunny shaped card

Hi all!  Yay, it's Saturday and it's going to be another sunny weekend for us here in the UK - well, in the South East at least!  The bad news is that I have no excuse not to do the gardening today and I've got to wash my car too.  Pah!

Today is also the start of a new Whimsie Doodle challenge and this month we want to be Seeing Spots!  So, any creation with some sort of circle!  I bet a lot of you thought I'd make one of my mini circle cards but instead I made this bunny shaped card instead...

I really liked how this bunny turned out!  I used this month's freebie Bite Me cutting file and sentiment from the Egged set.  I softly roughened the edges to give it a slight shabby chic feel.  I used My Favorite Things dies for the leaf and flower arrangement with a pearl popped in the centre.  The gingham paper is by Pink Petticoat and I finished it off with some sweet Doodlebug spotty chiffon ribbon.  The tail is made out of three fluffy balls that I squished together to make one big ball.

Check out more Doodlelicious Diva inspiration and get all the deets on the prizes over at the blog here.  I'm off to get changed into my gardening clothes (i.e. clothes that I've just got bored of).

See ya later on my blog rounds - ttfn!

Fussy cutting hints and tips

Hi everyone and I hope you are looking forward to a new week!  Or at least not too depressed that it's four days to the weekend...  Anyhoo, I am here today with some hints and tips on fussy cutting for All That Scraps.  I've get a lot of questions about how I do it so I hope this will go some way to help.  First off, here is my card where I used this technique...

Isn't she beautiful?  This is Drozy's Darlings Letter For You and I also used a sentiment from the AmyR Stamps Sunny Sentiments set. As you can see, I have cut around her and also in between the gap of her leg and wing.  Here are the tools I use...

In order from left to right:
  1. Serrated scissors (Tim Holtz)
  2. Craft knife (Xcut)
  3. rounded sanding tool
  4. flat sanding tool (a nail file is just as good)
I don't think I need to tell you how to actually these tools!  But here are a few things I do to get a good result:
  • First of all, I always cut around the image, say 2cm all round so that I don't have large pieces of card getting in my way as I cut round.
  • Don't try to get a perfect cut out using your scissors the first time you go round.  You can always go back to trim more off but you can't put it back!
  • Make sure your craft knife is sharp - you should be able to cut with quite light pressure.  If you find you are having to press down hard to get a cut, they are not sharp enough.
  • Don't worry if the edges aren't completely smooth and rounded (especially around those tight corners) - this is where the sanding tools come in.  For the outer side of the cut out image, I use the flat sanding tool to smooth it out.  I use the rounded sanding tool in the inside cuts.
Here's a another look at my card...

That's it!  I hope that was useful.  I hope to do a video some time in the future so you can see the whole process.  If you have any questions, leave a comment to this post and I will get back to you.  I'm off now but I'll see you again for another Make It Monday in the future!

Make It Crafty product spotlight

(Please scroll down for my MilkCoffee show case post!)

Hello, I'm back again with my Make It Crafty product spotlight using the Mini Book Style Box Kit...

I started off by painting the chipboard with Gesso and then glued on papers from the K & Company Small Wonders pad.  I also added some soft pink ink to the accessory chipboards and topped it off with some paper flowers.  I'm really pleased with how this turned out!   I created this for my friend who's baby girl is due very soon.  I'm going to fill it with some matching little socks, gloves and hat - I can't wait to give it to her!

I hope you like my project.  Thanks for visiting and I'll see you tomorrow with my Bellarific Friday post!

It's a jungle out there!

I really hate Sunday evenings - I just become resentful that I have to go to bed early to get up for work!  Hmph - I can't wait until I can afford to retire, I can tell you!  Don't get me wrong, I love my job but I would prefer not to do my long commute into London and have to work 7 hours 5 days a week!

Anyhoo, I have just popped in to post this card I made for this week's There She Goes challenge #188 sponging with diecuts...

Oh I just love this cheeky monkey!  He is from the Jungle Out There set and I matched him up with papers from the K and Company Actopus to Zelephant paper pad and layered up the clouds and matting to give it lots of depth.  I am also entering this card into the Simon Says Stamp for new something (new stamp set for me!).

Okay, I'm outta here to enjoy the rest of what's left of my weekend!

New challenge over at Kraftin' Kimmie!

Happy Saturday everyone!  This week's new Kraftin' Kimmies challenge is food and drink so here is my guest designer card using cool and sophisticated Sophia...

I wanted to keep the style cool and modern too as this is going to one of my city girl friends.  I used my swiss dots embossing folder for interest and papers from an old K and Company paper pad.  The sentiment comes with the stamp and I also used my Lil' Inker Designs Of the Heart Dies too.  You can see more stunning DT inspiration over at the Kraftin' Kimmies challenge blog.

Have a fab weekend and see you later on my blog rounds!
