Valentine's day

Hey, everyone!!

I wanted to share some photos from Valentine's Day. Yes, I know that it was last weekend but we have been snowed in for several days and with no school so many days in a row, I am behind on posting! LOL I had to work until 4:30 a.m. on Valentine's Day this year so my kiddos woke me up when they got home. Aren't they precious (ignore the crazy haired chic who just woke up)!

Yellow roses are my most favorite flower ever!! My sweet baby girl picked these out for me. She is so wonderful! And of course my buddy bear is adorable, too, isn't he?

Here they are up close! Beautiful!! Now for the kiddos Valentine's treats:

She loved her cards! I made the one in her right hand and her daddy picked one out just for her in the middle. She is also holding her Gummy Flowers with Tinkerbell on the box (one of her favorites). Chocolate gives her heart burn so she doesn't eat it! I know!!! Can you imagine?

Now this child can eat some chocolate and I don't mean a little!! He is super hyper when he gets too much! LOL Here he is holding the card I made him, the card his daddy picked out just for him and a heart-shaped box of chocolates with a MONSTER TRUCK on the front. He was so happy!! Oh and I must share this moment that absolutely melted my heart. Javan came up to me holding his card I made him and said, "Sanks you for my card Momma. It's pretty." Isn't that just precious?
Daddy's turn! He got a card and some beef jerky from the kiddos! He loves Beef Jerky!
Here is my whole world in one photo! Look in Paul's hand...he is holding the card I made him! He really liked it!! He said, "You hid your stamps! I was going to make you a card!" LOL I didn't really hide them but he gets credit for the kind thought! LOL Hope your day was extra special, too!

A gift to warm the heart...and tummy!

Hey, everyone!!

Have you ever been checking out other blogs and suddenly you come across a project that is so amazing that you absolutely must try it right then? I know, me, too!!! Isn't that so exciting? My sweet husband got me all the things I needed to make this adorable project that I found on Paper Jewels blog! Warning!!! Once you go there you will find a LOT of those GOTTA MAKE IT NOW projects! I love her!! Okay so I want to show you my project BEFORE you go see hers because well mine isn't as amazing as hers!! LOL But I am still proud of it and I am sure Kadesia's teacher will be really happy to get this! So here is my Window Box Treat Holder:

I used Premium White Cardstock from The Angel Company, red cardstock for the heart and largest scalloped square. The scalloped square punches are both from TAC. The "Love" sentiment is from Family Is Forever (yes I know I use that a lot but it's an amazingly versatile stamp set!), "a gift for you" is from Sweet Goodies, as is this adorable heart. I stamped these in Palette Hybrid Ink (Bordeaux). I stamped the heart twice, the second time I cut it out and used a pop dot for more dimension.
Paper Jewels creativity doesn't just end with the Window Box Treat! Oh no, she then shares this amazing recipe for Marshmallow suckers to stir in your hot chocolate! Isn't she too much?? I love, love, love this! It was super fast and easy to make these and guess what? Paul bought me the heart shaped marshmallows. Isn't that sweet of him? Since these are so easy to make, I decided to make a sucker for Kadesia and each one of her classmates for her party today.
Okay now you can RUN to Julie's blog HERE to get the tutorial so you can make these super fun treat holders and you can find the recipe for the marshmallow suckers HERE so you can make some yummy treats for the ones you love!!

First Card Class of 2010!

Hey, everyone!!

Yesterday was my card class. We made 4 cards that I will be sharing with you today! If you couldn't make it to the class but still want to come, the cost for the kit is $10 (plus s/h if I mail it) and includes images.

We created a masculine card because I think they are often more challenging to come up with ideas for! Here I used the Just Like Dad patterned paper, Decorative Corners stamp set, Tag Tidbits stamp set, Premium White Cardstock, Jardin Moss palette ink and Mega Scalloped Square Punch all from The Angel Company.

The second card I am showing you is great for baby showers and can be created in pink for girls or gender neutral colors. You can adapt the idea for birthdays, weddings, bridal showers, graduations, or whatever occasion you want! I am using Premium White Cardstock, Brighten My Day patterned paper, Hello Baby stamp set, Mega Scalloped Square Punch, Tombow Markers, Stardust Glitter Gel Pens, Noir Palette Hybrid Ink, Reflection Blue Palette Hybrid Ink, and Trendy Greetings stamp set all from The Angel Company. I also used a white gel pen from Signo Uni-ball that is the ultimate! LOVE IT!

I used an oval punch from TAC to punch the opening for the gift card.
The third card we created is an adorable treat holder that I saw on Angie Juda's blog. Valentine's Day is right around the corner, so what a great way to make a card and gift all in one for your family, friends, coworkers, school teachers, fellow church members, or your sweetheart! The cardstock is Birch and I have never ordered it before but I absolutely love it!!! It has a really nice weight to it and the specks in it make a very natural looking card. It's great! I heard a lot of great things about it in class and got an order for some going in soon!! The papers are from Miss Moxie and I used the Mega Scalloped Square Punch. I used my Tombow markers and Stardust Glitter Gel Pens to color the image in. Do you not love this bird? It's a Hostess Level A stamp set coming up in the brand new Serendipity magalogue that goes live February 1!!

I slipped a Ghiradelli chocolate and caramel square inside the card. The "friend" sentiment comes from the Beyond Measure Hostess Level B stamp set that you can earn with a qualifying party!! I used L'Amore Red Palette Hybrid ink and my Stardust Glitter Gel Pen to go over it for some added sparkle!
Our fourth and final card of the day was for another treat holder. This holds a Dove milk chocolate heart! I used red cardstock, black cardstock, Premium White Cardstock (TAC), the new Brighten Your Day stamp set available now for a limited time, stamped in Noir Palette Hybrid ink, colored with my Burnt Umber Copic Marker, Pink Souffle Gelly Pen, Stardust Glitter Gel Pens and Tombow Markers all from TAC. I accented the cat's eyes with my white gel pen.

The ribbon is from Walmart. It's tied in a knot on the side to secure the card together. Here's a look at the inside:
The sentiment is from Trendy Greetings and stamped in Palette Hybrid Ink. We also stamped hearts from the Build-A-Background Hostess Level A stamp set down the sides for a fun little border inside the card. The idea for this project came from Dawn Griffith. I apologize for the blurry photo. I don't know about my camera sometimes! LOL
I hope you have enjoyed checking out all the fun cards we made! Check back tomorrow for my Scripture Challenge where I will have another scrapbook page to share with you!

Hey, everyone!

I was hanging out over at Paper Wings for a few and saw a new sketch was up in the Motivation Station! Check it out: I saw the heart on the sketch and immediately I knew I wanted to try it out. Laurie pointed out that we could use any shape we wanted in place of the heart, but I knew just what I wanted to do! I grabbed my More Mimi scraps (I've used a lot of this paper but I love it!) and some neutral cardstock and made this for my daughter's Valentine card.
I used stamps from The Angel Company: You Are (Serendipity Street) and Swirly Gigs (Main Catalog). I used Belle Rose for the Swirly Gig stamps and Burnt Umber for the sponging and You Are stamp set. I made a sweet little pink bow with my satin ribbon using my Bow-Easy. I finished the card off by rounding the corners with the ½" side of my Corner Chomper! I added some faux stitching with my white gel pen and popped the heart layers up on dimensionals. I know I have used this amazing double-sided paper a lot but it's wonderful! Each 12x12 sheet has a different design on each side so you are really getting twice as many options as you would with any of our other paper packs! I hope you like my card today!! Let me know where I can find your card that you create with this sketch!

Hey, everyone!!

Laurie, an amazing Angel has issued a Color Challenge over at Paper Wings. This is the first challenge of the year and I really want to participate in more challenges, especially at Paper Wings, so I was eager to make a card using only Turquoise, Kraft, Ivory and Brown. I will admit that my "Ivory" is actually "White" but the rest of the colors qualify, right? LOL I made a masculine Valentine card to give my two year old son! I hope he likes it. It's up on dimensionals and has a little bling but I don't think it's too girlie for him! LOL What do you think?
The cardstock is cut at 4" x 8" and scored with my Scor-Pal at 4" creating a square card. I love this size! I then added a brown layer with measuring ¼" smaller than the 4" base. The white cardstock is ½" smaller than the 4" base. I sponged some Reflection Blue Hybrid Palette ink onto the white cardstock and then added a blue rhinestone in each corner. The scalloped squares are made with my punches I have from The Angel Company. The white square is 1½" squared, sponged with Reflection Blue and the cupcake wrapper is paper pieced with the turquoise cardstock. The cupcake is a PWP stamp set! You can buy this adorable set called All Smiles for only $2.95 with any $30 purchase. In fact, this month you can purchase TWO of these PWP stamps for any $30 purchase!!
Here's a look at the inside:
The sentiment is from a retired stamp set from The Angel Company. It's called Sweet as Pie. I always tell my kids, "You are as sweet as pie!" So I will be including this sentiment in both my children's Valentine cards this year! What have you made today? I'd love to see it!

Mojo Monday on a Thursday!

Hey, everyone!

I really liked the Mojo Monday week 120 card sketch! I knew I wanted to use this sketch for a Valentine theme and thought it would be really fun to make an "xo" from the Scriptybet stamp set from The Angel Company. I wasn't sure about the rest of the details. One thing I love about sketches are that you can play with them, use them for inspiration, follow them exactly as they are or put your own personal touches to them! Here is the sketch I used:
Here is the card I came up with:
I used my Corner Chomper to round the two right and left corners. I used L'Amore Red and Noir palette hybrid inkspots. The tiny hearts are from a Level A hostess set. With any $100 order you get TWO FREE LEVEL A Hostess Sets of your choice from any of three current catalogs we have!! The red satin bow was made using my Bow-Easy. I created a scalloped border with my heart punch. I punched three hearts and lined them up then placed my white piece of cardstock over that.
For the inside of my card I chose the "I Love You" sentiment from Trendy Greetings (The Angel Company stamp set). I hope you like my card today!! It was fun to create and I look forward to making many more Valentine cards! If you notice, I used the red rhinestones that I had out on my Inspiration Station! Have you created yours yet? I'd love to see it!! Have a specTACular day!

Valentine's Day Recap

Hey, everyone!

Well can you believe that today is February 15? That means we are past the half-way point for this month! Wow! What a great month to celebrate...love! There are so many ways to celebrate and you know I remember my mom and dad making every single holiday just extra special with little treats and things. I try to do that now with my children, too.

My daughter has given school Valentine's for 4 years now because she had 2 years of preschool, then Kindergarten and now she's in the first grade! This year I didn't want to do the traditional Valentine's you buy at the store. She loves to stamp and scrapbook and do paper crafting just like her momma so I told her we could make her own special Valentine's this year. LOL What was I thinking? LOL

These cute little boxes are really easy to make. I love the color of the paper. I had originally put peppermint patties in these kinds of boxes but I wanted Kadesia to pick the candy to put inside. We picked up fun-size Butterfinger candy bars and they fit perfectly inside! I was so excited!!!!
I saw a tutorial from one of my favorite stampers, Dawn, and came up with these Valentine's for Kadesia's classmates. She only has 5 boys in her class. The other 15 (including Kadesia) are girls. Those poor boys are outnumbered! LOL
Kadesia is very creative. I couldn't just stamp the Valentine's in black or brown ink and let her color them in, I had to use specific colors that she chose for certain areas on each stamp! I was so happy to have them all stamped! She got to color them in and she helped me assemble them.
We combined a stamp set Happy Heart Day from Stampin' Up! with a stamp set from The Angel Company called Kid Praises (T-2686). I used Sunflower ink (TT-186) on the yellow cardstock and Belle Rose (TT-193) on the pink cardstock.
This is a look from the side. It is such a fun little card and I was excited we went with the chocolate hearts because Kadesia got a lot of non-chocolate treats in her bag!

Here are the Valentine's, all ready to go in a basket.
Here is Miss Kadesia putting treats in all her classmates Valentine sacks.
Kadesia loves, loves, loves to play Bingo, so you should have seen the excitement on her face when the head room mother announced what game they would be playing!
Oh yes, that is right! She just won BINGO! She got BINGO two times!!! That lucky duck!
Here she is with her treats and her Valentine sack sitting at her desk.
Can you believe the loot? My friend and I were talking the other night about how crazy it has gotten! It looks like she's been trick-or-treating! LOL
Just so you know, I hate to have my picture taken. A room mother came over to me after seeing the Mother Paparazzi (ME, LOL) taking photos of Kadesia and asked me if she could take our picture. Ugh...okay, Jany gets all the credit on this one. I normally would have said something like no, thank you or whatever, but she reminded me that it is important to get in FRONT of the camera sometimes, too, instead of hiding behind it. Now I know I am not photogenic, but I am so glad that she did this for me. It really made me feel good because I want Kadesia to always have special memories of times I spend with her. I love her so much!!!
Do you not love this photo? Here is my entire world in one picture! The kids got Paul a little box of chocolates. It says YOU ARE A WINNER on it and has a race car with a checkered flag on it. He loved it because he is a race car driver and fan and thinks it's great that his kids have motor oil in their veins, too! LOL Just look at Kadesia such a daddy's girl! I love that!! They have the best relationship...and of course she will always have him wrapped around her little finger! I also just love Javan's face! It's so cute and unexpected...like hurry up guys, I want to see what Mommy is hiding for me!
Here's my sweet little girl! She got a High School Muscial card that plays music when you open it up. She loved that!! Then she picked out a DVD that she wanted. I remember watching Alvin and the Chipmunks when I was little so I am kind of not wanting to see this movie. I just figure it won't be anything like the cartoons I used to watch on Saturday mornings and I guess I am a little resistant to change when it comes to things like that. LOL
Javan is trying to figure out how to open his card with the "dee-bwa" on it! LOL Paul finally helped him! This is the WILD FOR YOU card I made using the WILD FOR YOU (T-2727) stamp set and the WILD WEST (T-2633) stamp set.
There was a Walmart ad laying on the chair and "Melmo" happened to catch Javan's eye. It was the Many Kisses Elmo and Javan went crazy over it. He got so excited and repeated over and over, "Melmo! Melmo! Melmo!" He was pointing with his chubby little finger at Melmo and how could I resist? I decided to get it for him!
Isn't this so sweet? Javan's leaning in to give "Melmo" a kiss! This particular Elmo is so neat because it has a lot of sweet sayings and it even sounds like it's blowing a kiss when you put his hand up to his mouth. So sweet!

Well, that is all the photos but the gifts don't end there. My mother bought me a beautiful diamond ring. I love it!!!! It's beautiful!! Did I say that already? LOL It really is! Paul put in a new exhaust fan and light in the bathroom as our other one needed to be replaced. We had dimmer switches in different rooms and I would much rather flip the switch than mess with turning the knob, which then would fall off into my hand but only if I was in a hurry and then it would mess up my nails...it never failed! So he switched all that around for me and it only took 2 trips to Lowe's! LOL I hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's Day! I know I enjoyed being with my family. That is what I truly LOVE to do! I also got my friend, Shelly's FunShop order in from the 50% off special. It was really neat to see THAT MANY stamp sets in one box! Cutting back on the clam shell cases saves a lot of room, let me tell you! LOL But I am so glad I could meet up with you, Shelly and I hope your mom has the best birthday ever! I am looking forward to her FunShop next Saturday!!! Well, thank you for hanging out with me for a while today! You'll definitely want to come back for more fun stuff I am eager to share with you.

Hey, everyone!

Stacy over at Paper Wings has posted a new Color Combo Challenge this week. The colors are Grey, Black, Red, & White. "For this weeks challenge you can apply the colors through your cardstock choices, embellishments, and/or color mediums just be sure to use all four colors... and only these four colors. You may stamp your image using black ink."

This was a fun challenge for me and I was happy to get away from the monochromatic pink that I had been using so much of. I thought of "love" since we're so close to Valentine's Day and I wanted to come up with a really romantic card. So, here is what I came up with:
My black card base measures 4¼" x 5½" when folded. The black and white paper already had adhesive on the back. I cut it down to 4" x 5¼". I put a red eyelet "LIPS" in the lower right hand corner with my Crop-A-Dile. The red slim panel measures 1½" x 5½" and the shimmery grey strip measures 1¼" x 5½". The wide red panel measures 4¾" x 2¾" and I set 3 white eyelets down the side using my CAD. The white panel measures 2½" x 4" and I stamped "LOVE" using L'Amour Red Hybrid Palette Ink and my Scripty Bet stamp set. The letters are covered with Prisma Glitter, also, for a little bit of shimmer!

I hope you like my card. Today's my daughter's Valentine party at school so I am eager to share her Valentine's with you all tomorrow! Have a great day!

TAC supplies used:
Black Cardstock (V-215)
Premium White Cardstock (V-290)
L'Amour Red Palette Ink (TT-195)
Prisma Glitter (A-287)
Crop-A-Dile (K-100)
Scripty Bet stamp set (T-2722)

Divine Design Bible Verse Challenge 09

Hey, everyone!

You may remember that I took the Bible Verse Challenge last month. You can read more about it here. This has been such a fun challenge for me that instead of waiting on each month to do the challenge, I went ahead and found a scripture for each month of the year then made a calendar to sit on my desk so I can see and read God's Word all month long to keep it down inside my heart!

Speaking of hearts...February is the month of hearts, cupids, and love. I knew immediately what scripture I wanted to use for February...God's Valentine to us: John 3:16. I love this scripture and have heard it and quoted it many, many, many times through the years. It is such an amazing scripture that reminds me of how awesome God really is.

God blessed me with two beautiful children. I love them dearly! I would give my life for them if I had to. I know they are precious MIRACLES straight from God and I am honored to be their mother. I will sometimes look at their little hands...and rub my finger across the palm of their hand while they are sleeping or in my arms and I just think of how much love it took for God to love all of us enough that He was willing to send His only Son to this world where we would pierce His hands and feet with three NAILS! I couldn't do it. If I had to give Kadesia or Javan up to save the world I couldn't do it! Only by God's infinite love and power could Mary do it for Jesus!

Until we know love like that...we will never know how to love one another because God is love. That is WHO He is...that is WHAT He is...LOVE. I am so glad God loved me enough to save me and then He loved me enough to be my friend through all the problems in this life that I have. He never leaves me. Being a Christian doesn't mean I will never have another problem...it simply means I will never face them alone!

God bless you, dear friends!!!

Hugs,
