Motorcycle Diaper Cake & Recipe

Hey everyone!

I hope you had a wonderful and blessed Easter holiday!

I volunteered to make a homemade carrot cake with homemade cream cheese icing and a batch of deviled eggs! I even purchased a couple packages of miniature cupcakes for the kids!

Here is the recipe I used:

Carrot Cake
2 cups flour
2 cups sugar
2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. baking powder
2-3 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. salt
1 1/2 cups Wesson Oil
3-4 cups grated carrots
4 eggs
1 cup pecans or walnuts

Sift flour and dry ingredients (except sugar).
Shred carrots.
Grease and flour pan.
Preheat oven to 350 F.
After sifting, mix everything in one bowl on medium 2-3 minutes.
Bake 1 hour.

Cream Cheese Icing
1 pkg. cream cheese
1 stick butter
1 pkg. powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
Cream together.

I wanted to share a couple of photos with you all. There were three ladies having babies within weeks of each other at work. One of my co-workers was a first-time mom and I wanted to make her a special gift that she could enjoy but that was practical, too. So I found a tutorial on YouTube for an adorable motorcycle diaper cake and watched it SEVERAL times before I finally got the courage up to try it. Guess what? It was so easy! Thom does an excellent job showing each step of the process and I made it right along with her. Go check out her channel. She makes adorable diaper cakes!!

So here is a look at the one I created:

Thanks for hanging out with me today! I hope you have a fabulous and productive week. Today is my day off so I am going to try to get everything done today since I will be working tomorrow through Saturday! Be sure to check back on Friday for another post!

Progressive Page

Hey, everyone!

I have been a scrapbooker for a long time now...about 9 years. My style has changed and evolved over and over throughout the years. More and more I just want to get my photos scrapped and into the albums so the stories and photos are shared! I work on three separate albums: one for me and my husband and it is where I scrap EVERYTHING! Then I have an album for each of our kids...this is their baby books and basically the story books of their lives. I have streamlined the process more now since having my second child. Now I highlight events and activities in their books while keeping all the rest for mine. I am always looking for easy and fun ways to scrap!

I haven't been stamping long...just a little over a year now and so I haven't done a LOT of stamping in my scrapbooks but I have dabbled here and there! It's a fun process. I love it! Of course with any stamping I do, I usually CASE it from someone else. I have never copied someone else's pages for my albums before but with stamping, there's so much you can do that I find it easier to see what someone else has done and then I can do it, too! LOL

My friend, AMBER, told me about Progressive Scrapbooking. I had not ever heard of it. She shared some ideas and photos with me and I was hooked! So I decided to make a scrapbook page like THIS ONE. Mine didn't turn out exactly the same but I like it! I can never truly copy every single thing someone else does...I always have to add something or take something away! So here is my page.
I have made 12x12 scrapbook pages with 8½x11 pages on them, too, but not anything like this...on purpose anyway! LOL For this particular page I used Scriptybet and Hello Baby. Can you believe this adorable stamp set is only $2.98 until Monday. It is a set of three stamps and it's so cute! I love to paper piece the blanket and diaper on the giraffe. For this page, I wanted to keep it simple so I just added my Prisma Glitter to the diaper and blanket for a sweet little shimmer! I also used VersaMark and my Speckle stamp (also 50% off until Monday) on the blue strip underneath the top photo. It made a really nice subtle background.

For those of you that aren't familiar with this type of scrapbooking, it's actually really easy! This is the way I do it, but it may be different than how others do it...I started with my 12x12 base cardstock. Then I grabbed an 8½x11 piece of cardstock in a coordinating color. I then took a third color...this time more of a designer paper and used it for the 6x6 page. You start with the smallest page first. Then you layer it on to the middle sized paper. Last you build the page by layering all that onto the 12x12 page. You can make it as fancy or simple as you want. I prefer simplicity when I scrapbook for two reasons: saves me time and I want the focus to be on my photos not the embellishments!

I hope you had fun with me today! If I have inspired you to make a progressive page, please leave me a comment or shoot me an e-mail. I'd love to see it! Thanks for stopping by! Check back tomorrow. I will have some more fun stuff to share.

Don't forget some of you have contacted me saying you'd like to place an order while the T-coded stamps are all 50% off, so be sure you do that before Monday, Jan. 26 because that is when this special ends! Grab your wish list and call or e-mail me!

StampTACular Tuesday!

Hey, everyone!

It's time for another StampTACular Tuesday challenge using An 'Udder Birthday stamp set. Don't forget this stamp set of 7 is available for half-price right now but time is running out to take advantage of the special.

For today's challenge, I created a card! I used the Stardust Glitter Gel Pens to color in the moon and stars and to add doodle dots around the image. I used my blender pen and the brown Making Memories marker for a watercolor effect. The bottom slips inside the blue ribbon to keep it closed. The blue patterned paper is from the Gentle Beginnings paper pack.
So do you like this card? Let me know if you want to play along and I will add your link to the list on the right. Be sure you click on those links to see all the fun projects you can create using this very versatile stamp set. Christina has something fun to share, too.
Have a great day!

All that glitters...

Hey, everyone!

You may remember that I told you earlier this week that my daughter helped me out at the Holiday Village and one of my vendor neighbors was doing caricature drawings for $5. I thought it would be fun to let her get hers done and she is always a willing model! LOL Here is the awesome drawing he made. Unfortunately I didn't get his name but he was very nice and obviously very talented!

A friend of mine had a baby boy recently. I haven't got the chance to meet him yet but I saw a picture of him and he is so cute! I am going to meet up with my friend, Heather, soon and will take this card to her and a gift. I hope she likes it! I love this stamp set from The Angel Company. It's called Hello Baby. It has three stamps with it and it's only $5.95! Can you believe that? I love this set and have used it before for other baby cards and love how versatile it is. I can change the diaper color to pink or yellow or purple for a baby girl card and I've even paper pieced the diaper and blanket before. It's just so much fun to color the cute baby giraffe in. I used my Tombow markers and stardust glitter gel pens. I used one of my ink spots to outline the scallops on the circle. It is great to use the spots because it's just the right size to get in the scallops without adding too much ink or getting it smudged up. My inspiration came from a sketch I saw on Heather Scott's blog. I have started using sketches more to help me broaden my horizons as I learn new techniques and new stamping tricks! What I love about Heather's sketches are the measurements! She actually puts the measurements right on the sketch so it completely takes the guesswork out for those stampers who are like me and could use all the extra help they can get!! LOL So, definitely check out her sketches and see what you can make!
I realize this isn't exactly fall themed or Thanksgiving themed but I wanted to share it with you all! Aren't we always grateful for our baby blessings though? My friend had to have a C-section and she was facing a difficult delivery as the baby wasn't turned the right way, so I am thankful that everything turned out just fine for both mother and baby and that she had lots of help in the beginning!

Today is the last day of school for my daughter this week. She will be off for 4 days on Thanksgiving break. I know many of you will be celebrating Thanksgiving with your family and doing some shopping and enjoying being off, if you are fortunate enough to be. I hope you can check back some over the next few days to see the rest of the projects I have lined up and if you haven't done so, please go HERE to sign up for the BLOG CANDY! All you have to do is leave me a comment and let me know you what your favorite thing is to eat or drink at Thanksgiving then leave a link on your blog back to me if you have one. If you don't have a blog, you can still enter to win! For a second chance in the drawing, you can make a card and send me the link so I can check it out. All the details are HERE and I hope you will spread the word!

My friends Vicki and Barb, also have some great blog candy! You gotta go check theirs out, too!

Am I crazy or what???

Hey, everyone!

Thanks for stopping by my blog today to see what is new! If you haven't received your copy of my newsletter for this month, check your bulk folder and if you still don't have it, let me know. I would be happy to send you a copy of it!

This weekend has been full and busy! Paul had surgery on Friday! Everything went really well. We were sooo tired that morning and arrived an hour early, so we slept in the car (SUCH A NICE DAY!!!) for a little while before we had to go in. Here's a couple pictures of Paul just before he was going in. He is so tall his feet stick off the bed! LOL
That was a long day for both of us! He rested at his mom and dad's a while and then I took him home to rest for the night. Then I had to get busy! My cousin's baby shower was Saturday afternoon. I said I would help with the cake, favors and a special gift. I was up for 28 hours straight!!!! Am I crazy or what? Here's what I came up with:
30 homemade almond bark covered pretzels with blue sprinkles party favors that say:
Thank you!
Love,
DJ & Baby David
I made my own bow from ribbon!

This is the card and envelope I made using the TAC HELLO BABY stamp set and a few miscellaneous stamps, TAC Jumbo circle punch and scalloped circle punch.
The candle is a keepsake for the baby...a preemie and not home yet! DJ loved it!! I used the TAC WILD FOR YOU stamp set.
This is the cake I made! It had been over a year since I decorated a cake and I was really, really exhausted but it turned out okay. It tasted so good! Well thanks for stopping by! Leave me a comment and let me know what you think!!!

Baby Shower Card

Hey, everyone!

This has certainly been one busy week! My husband's papaw had been put in the hospital, in ICU. He started improving and they were going to move him onto the medical floor. We got a call Sunday morning to go to the hospital but we were too late when we got there. He passed away just before we walked in. :0(

With the passing of Papaw Elbert, and thinking of death and our own mortality as the week began, it seems only fitting that the weekend would be filled with anticipation and joy with the new birth of my baby cousin and the summer arrival for my friend's baby that I went to a shower for today! My baby cousin was born this week, though he was not due to be born until July! He weighed 2 lbs. 1 oz. and was 13" long!! He is breathing on his own and his heart is doing well! We give God all the praise for that MIRACLE! My cousin is doing well, too, but must remain in the hospital a while longer! It has been a bittersweet week....losing a dear man who was so special and kind...but gaining a new little life, full of wonder and awe! It really is amazing!

The night before my cousin was transferred to a different hospital, I made her a card using the shaving cream technique. It is sort of like a post card! Here is a photo:
Since I got my new stamps recently (you gotta love the DOUBLE REWARDS!!!) I have been cutting my stamps out and eager to play!! I got the chance this morning. I made a card for my friend's baby shower. I thought I would show it to you all!

I used the Hello Baby stamp set, Just Like Dad paper, Hybrid Pallette Ink Spots (LOVE IT!), gray tombow marker, scalloped punch and my new Scor-Pal! Ask me how you can get them, too!!
Sunday (it already is Sunday....just really early), I will be making some packets for Monyca's FunShop she is having this Tuesday! It will be a lot of fun! If you wanted to place an order to get your DOUBLE REWARDS, do that soon because time is running out! April 30 is the last day to get all your DOUBLE BENEFITS!

Have a great day!
