Hi, well it certainly is the weather to be At The Beach, which is the #84 challenge at Ruby's Rainbow. Please pop over to the blog to check out the rules, (so few) and to see the amazing inspirational creations from the wonderful Design Team.  My background papers are print outs from CD's, also the bunting which is from the Halcyon Days CD. The main image cut with a Spellbinder die, is from Joanna Sheen, by Faye Whittaker - All Our Yesterday series, Bucket and Spade FW 912. I coloured this with Promarkers,  the blue sky/sea background being Faded Jeans Distress Ink, added with an old fat make up brush. I look forward to visiting you all At The Beach, have fun and happy crafting.

T is for Twine

At Alphabet Challenges for the next two weeks Marie chose for the letter T - Twine, a good choice, especially if your like me and have a few rolls in your stash. It's so nice to have a little piece of normality after Halloween and before the next Christmas rush of cards. I decided to make a card ready for if and when a friend is feeling poorly. A good card to have ready on hand. I started with plain Kraft card. I embossed a piece of white with Kraft Core-dinations, embossed it then rubbed it down. After exposing the inner part, I then edged and swept over it with DI Vintage Photo. Added a few pieces of green patterned paper for contrast in layers. The main image is a stamp from Joanna Sheene. I coloured it with Promarkers. Added the twine and a small greeting which I think reads better than the order to Get Well Soon.
Greeting stamp from Hobby Art. I look forward to visiting you over the next few weeks.

Flowers at Fat - Tastic Tuesday

Hi everyone, this week at Fat Tastic Tuesday Challenges, where it is Hip To Be Square - our challenge is FLOWERS. You can use any medium, any technique, anything goes as long as you combine FLOWERS.  Now I am sure we all love flowers, they say they are the most popular images on cards. I have used a Joanne Sheen stamp designed by Jane Shasky called Sweet Memories. I used Promarkers to colour the stamped image and Distress inks to colour the edges. The small 'All My Love' is from a free set of clear stamps with a magazine.

Today at CD Sunday Challenges Sue T,  the latest recruit to the Design Team has chosen for this week's theme, Weddings, a suitable choice for the beginning of the Weddings season. I made a stepper card, one of my favourite shapes from the Robert Adams Fabulous Folds CD. I matted a layer of mirri card, then a layer of some beautiful white and silver paper, recently bought from Sarah at Peerless Designs. The main image is from Joanna Sheene's Vintage Romance CD. An additional ribbon and bow, small white flowers and a pretty leaf shaped charm. I again look forward to visiting you to see your wonderful creations for weddings.

Anything But A Card

Now for something different at Make My Monday, we would like to see ANYTHING BUT A CARD.
I host two Fat Pages Stamping Swaps and am also a member of a NEW Design Team for a Fat Tastic challenge blog. Interested? Do you want to know more?  Then watch this space for there will be some exciting news later today . This is my fat page for the Do-Crafts Fat Page swap organised on the ATC Forum, it was for the theme of Childhood Memories. I used a lovely stamp from Joanna Sheen by Faye Whittaker called Bucket and Spade. The birds are from Inkylicious. I coloured everything with DI Mustard Seed and Broken China in a watercolour format.
Below is another Fat page I have made for Stampers UK a Yahoo group with a current Fat Page swap, this one was for an  Oriental/Asian theme. The stamps are from The Stampman - Non-Sequitor stamps. I again used Promarkers to colour the stamped images. You may be wondering, what are Fat Pages, if you want to know more please click on the Fat Pages Page on my page bar above. I look forward to visiting you to see what you have made instead of a card.

Wonderful Wings

At CD Sunday Challenges for this week we are asking you to create a project with the theme Wonderful Wings, we all know there are so many options open to you for this one, don't forget the fairies,  dragons, angels, aeroplanes and many more. For my card, I decided on something fairly easy bit I think it makes  a nice card. The backing paper and main image is from Joanna Sheen Oriental Dreams, yes, it's an old CD but still a favourite of mine, especially the birds and gardens sections. I matted onto black card and silver mirri card, I added a piece of black ribbon and a Japanese coin from my oriental collection of embellishments. I look forward to seeing your creations everyone, please have some fun and enjoy the challenge.

Land of the Pharaohs

Land of the Pharaohs is our challenge for this week at CD Sunday Challenge, I do hope you have fun with this one. The paper and images for my card are from Joanna Sheen's Egyptian Adventure CD, it is an old one, but still very useful. It was after I had made this card, I remembered I had once made a fold up card with papers and images from the same CD shortly after buying it. This was in the days before my blog.   I have now added it as a postscript at the end of this entry. I needed to get it photographed in some daylight. Have fun everyone in your project creation for Land Of The Pharaohs. I'll be popping round to visit you all.

Exotic Birds and Blooms

For this week at CD Sunday Challenges it was Christine's turn to choose the theme, she chose Exotic Birds and Blooms. The DT have created some wonderful cards to inspire you. Please pop over to the main blog to check out the rules and their fabulous cards. Remember, to be able to be judged to be in the Top 3 you must use something from a CD, anything from  a small element, up to all of the card, please let us know which CD/CDs you have used. I made my card using backing paper and 3 images from Joanna Sheen Oriental Dreams CD. I used Chloe's Small Poinsettia flower stamp to stamp out 6 flowers onto  coloured vellum, with Versamark, then embossed with gold E.P. I added 3 red jewels to each flower centre. The sentiment is from my stash. Have fun everyone. I greatly enjoy visiting your blogs for you all produce some amazing cards and I look forward to viewing your inspiring cards.

In the Trees

This week the CD Sunday Challenge has set us the challenge of Trees or Bushes. For me, part of the challenge is finding the theme on my few CDs, the remainder is deciding what to do with the found piece. I am in luck this week, lots to choose from on the Joanna Sheen, Oriental Dreams, which I purchased a long time ago. It seems Oriental may be trying to make a comeback, so this card may not feel too outdated. I used plain black paper to mat and layer the CD background and topper. Made a scroll for the small topper. Down the side I twice stamped and gold embossed a strip of Kanji (Japanese writing). I think this is a suitable card for a guy.

No. 4 At the Seaside

Thanks to all of the ladies over at St. Luke's Charity Card Challenge for the wonderful challenge of  'I do like to be beside the Seaside'. I really do, too, this August has been the coldest and wettest that I can remember for ages. We did take two grandchildren last week in the rain and cold wind, as enjoyable as it was, it's not as good as when it's warm and sunny, for we in the North East of England are blessed with many wonderful sandy beaches. This is my 4th and last card for the challenge, and I now wondering what they will be asking for in September. Onto my card - This is the second Joanna Sheen Babe on the Beach I have used, they are so cute and easy to use. A simple easel card, with just a little colouring with Distress Inks, both direct to card and used as a watercolour. I stamped a few shells from an Elusive Images set and added a real shell from my stash. I'll be posting it off at the end of the month, with at least one other card for your next fund raiser.

No 2 Beside the Seaside

Here I am again, ladies, my second card for the month for St. Luke's Charity Card Challenge. Do you know they need to have £4 million  to provide the care they give each year?  It is ages since I was last at the seaside,  so I am enjoying pretending to be there. This card was made using a Joanna Sheen stamp, an oldie but a golden set in my collection. I decoupaged the little boy to make him more life like. I have added glitter glue to the sea, I hope you can see the glitter when you take a peek. I used Distress Inks to colour everything on the card, I thought it added more interest by taking the colouring from the panel to all of the card.
I hope my last batch of cards arrived okay. Have a good week ladies, see you next Sunday.
I am also entering this card into the Gingersnap Creations "Babes and Tots" Challenge.

A few Quickies!

I haven't added anything to my blog since last Tuesday, but I've still been around, visiting and commenting on other bloggers and carrying out my visits and adding comments to the 4 design teams, to which I am also making cards for. I had a busy week making Quickie cards for my class for last Friday. The idea of the class was to show ways Quickie, yet effective cards could be made, which involved many samples. Here are a few.

The three below have been made with embossing folders with help of my bug.
Left - on white card but stamped around the edges, with Memento Bamboo Leaves after being embossed to cover all white areas. Brushed all over with a shaving brush and TH Distress ink Peeled Paint. Ribbon added and a small punched out circle with Just For You.
Centre - On dark coloured vellum a beautiful embossing folder of an owl. Lightly sandpapered the owl to show clearer. Stamped Just for You from a Paperartsy set Tops and Tails. I used four brads to attach the vellum to corugated card which I hope looks a little like bark.
Right - the same embossing folder as on the left side, but this time on vellum, lightly sandpapered to show more of a white contrast, ribbon tied around with a plaque Just for You, attached to white card with 4 blue brads.

Below are three quickly made stamped cards.
Left, both stamps are from Paperartsy Tops and Tails, I stamped both with Memento Bamboo Leaves, used Sakura pens to colour the red and yellow flowers.
Top _ Get Well Soon Owl for Joanna Sheen, stamped onto white card, coloured with Walnut Stain TH ink,
leaves stamped for Inkylicious Trees set.
Bottom - Stamped three times a grasses stamp from Elusive Images, adhered to a grey card. Twine wrapped around a button attached.

Left, an A5 sheet of pretty patterned card, folded in half, a stamped butterfly and sentiment from Personal Impressions Lydsay Mason, added for interest.
Centre - a very pretty and cheap Thank You stamp, coloured with Sakura pens, added to a matching tone piece of card to mat, then onto a white card.
Right - A white card, with a  red mat attached. A piece of pretty poppy paper cut from a Pad of paper, Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady

Come Fly With Me (4)

Oops! only two days to go for the remainder of the Come Fly With Me month at St. Luke's Charity Card Challenge  this is my 4th card, supposed to be one per week, but a bit late with my little Lily of the Valley fairy from Joanna Sheen. I've kept this one fairly clean and simple and have left space for someone to add a greeting of their choice. I believe she was in the pack I sent to the charity a week or two back. I coloured the fairy with Promarkers for her skin, and shades of greens from my Distress Inks - watercoloured. I'm looking forward to the next challenge wondering, will I manage 4 again? Keep up the good work ladies.

Oriental

Wandering around blogland as I do, to add comments to the challenges, I have found another interesesting challenge blog called Crafty Anne's Challenge blog, this week is No 41 Oriental. I need to make a Joanna Sheen card for a swap group I am member in. So, before I post it out, I thought I would add it to the challenge. The bird print,  is from Oriental Dreams CD, which I have added to paper to look like a scroll.
the background is again JS paper which I stamped with oriental kanji (writing) added gold E.P. and embossed, adding a gold coin to a piece of gold thread.

Royal Wedding

Crafty Cardmakers new challenge is to celebrate the forthcoming Royal Wedding, we are given a choice, to either make a red, white and blue card, or a wedding card with red white and blue or simply a wedding card of colours of your own choice.
We're sponsored again by the lovely Joanna Sheen who is offering a £10 voucher for her online shop which is crammed full of goddies with new stock arriving all the time! Thanks once again Joanna! My Wedding Congratulations is a textured A5 card, a sheet of A4 folded in half. I stamped the image with a La Blanche Bride stamp, one of my most favourite stamps which I don't get to use as much as I would like. I have gently added colour to her skin with Ivory and Almond Promarkers and watercolour pencils for the remainder colours. Matted onto pink card and then layered onto textured silver card. I added a selection of flowers from my stash, and silver embossed Congratulations. I think she looks a Victorian bride so I added my grandmother's pearl necklace and my ear rings for a touch of realism. Once again I look forward to visiting your blogs, thanks for popping onto mine, I greatly appreciate you took the time.
