Sewing a swimsuit is an easy and quick project that can be done in just a few hours. Seriously they are pretty quick to make! If you can sew a zigzag or a straight stitch you can sew a swimsuit. Fabric Mart had an amazing collection of swim and I was so thrilled to get my hands on some. Today I will be reviewing two swim patterns I used. The first one I made was from Megan Nielsen Patterns, the Cottesloe swimsuit pattern . I mostly stick with one piece swim patterns but support is important to me. This one has a shelf bra and tie back that helps with some support in the front. The pattern itself is pretty straight forward. There is an option to sew in a lining as well. I did not sew in a lining and I do regret that! The stitches and elastic can get irritating in the gusset area, I think that having a lining MIGHT help to prevent that. If your elastic is at all showing, meaning the fabric doesn’t completely cover the elastic when its folded over, there will probably be irritating rubbin...

Summer is so close I can taste it! With hot weather on the way, I need to get my sleeveless wardrobe up to date and stocked. I love to pair a breezy tank with shorts, and nothing is easier than throwing on a simple dress and heading out the door to drop off kids at camp or cruise to the beach. When the heat is up, the easier for me to get dressed the better.  With this in mind, I chose to add more woven tanks to my closet. They are cool to wear and not clingy like a knit top can often be. I looked through the ever-growing pattern section of the site, and the dartless aspect of the Megan Nielsen Eucalypt Tank was especially appealing to me.   No darts makes this a rather quick sewing project. The color blocking instructions are great, plus a basic tank is endlessly hackable and thus incredibly useful. Hello everyone and Happy Holidays!! This month for my Fabricista makes, I wanted to sew something like a capsule wardrobe but just for the holidays. I took two yards of ruby red heathered sweater knit and three yards of plaid rayon shirting and turned them into the holiday mix-and-match outfit of my dreams. I started with a sweater made with Simplicity 8982. I made view B, but added a cuff to the sleeve. This is a lovely simple sweater pattern that is great on it's own but loose enough to layer. This sweater knit is the softest, coziest fabric and I cannot recommend it highly enough. It's light weight but plenty warm enough for winter. From the rayon shirting I made a plaid blouse from a 1968 Simplicity pattern (no. 8399). This seems to have been a fairly popular pattern at the time as it is widely available. There are so many things that I love about summer; shorts, sandals, warm sunshine, cold ice cream, and fireflies, just to name a few. It pains me to admit that summer is drawing to an end. To celebrate my love for summer, I decided to sew one last pair of shorts and a coordinating button-up. Fabric Mart recently started carrying Megan Nielsen Patterns , so I jumped at the opportunity to make my last shorts of summer. I've been eyeing the classic Flint Pants & Shorts pattern for years now, so I knew this was the perfect time to snatch up the pattern and start sewing. I picked a Cream and Navy horizontal stripe viscose Suiting fabric to make my Flint Shorts.  The pattern recommended woven fabrics ranging in different weights depending on the look that you are going for. Hi Fabric Mart friends! I’m back with another Fabricista Sewing Make, and I’m excited to share my latest sewing make using this beautiful crinkle crepe challis fabric.
