Made By A Fabricista: Cozy & Chic for the Holidays

Christmas is my favorite time of year. I love all things sparkly, glitzy, shiny and colorful – the lights, the fabrics, the décor, the gift wrap! These things together all make sewing around the holidays my favorite. We don’t have any Christmas plans this year, which is a blessing and a curse. We’re excited to spend some time home together, but we also love to travel so we might get a little stir crazy in the house without anything on the books.  Knowing that we would be lounging at home for most of the holidays, I decided to use my December post to make two looks – one that I can take day to night and one for going out. While scrolling socials one day, I came across this ad for a boutique clothing store with a pair of sequin joggers and a velvet blazer. I loved the casual but glam feel of it, so I decided to recreate my own pair using the Hudson Joggers from True Bias . I found this great velvet backed, sequin knit fabric from Fabric Mart and got to work!   I wanted my layer...

Made by a Fabricista: It’s Sweatshirt Season!

This post is written in loving memory of my sweet pup Lola.  Lola was in my opinion the cutest little Shih Tzu ever.  She had the best personality and loved making beds out of my bath mats and laying in dirty laundry piles that where getting ready to be washed. She was little weird like that,  Occasionally when the weather cooled I would put a little sweatshirt on her to warm her up.  She would snuggle right up in bed once I put them on her.  My goal with this beautiful navy striped French Terry fabric was to make her and I matching sweatshirts.  Unfortunately my little girl didn’t make it.  She was elderly and was just not doing good during the time I was making all my projects.  We ended up saying goodbye to her and I wasn’t able to make her sweatshirt.   There is a really great pattern for dogs from Ellie and Mac the Hoodie Dog Sweater.  It comes in a variety of sizes and I’m sure you could find the perfect size for your little ...
