3D Printing

Before Christmas my husband was wanting ideas for gifts and I said I wouldn't mind one of those 3D pens so it was a big surprise when I opened a large box with 3D printer in it, it was not a pen but a printer!
But it is very hard for my little brain to learn how to design things to print. All the items here are not my designs, they are available on the web.

I put the fairy house in my miniature garden

Items are printed in a plain colour such as this brown. This is the fairy house before I painted it.

This dinosaur has three poorly's, my toddler Grandson thought it would be fun to throw him down, but it is quite delicate in places.

This is the printer if you were wondering what it looked like.

Cream Crazy Patch

I'm calling this patch cream although it includes other colours, various browns and whites.
I've used shells, parts of necklaces and wooden beads as well as 'normal' beads and sequins. I've not used patterned fabrics on this one just fabrics with different textures plus lace, ribbon, ric-rac  and cut work fabric and of course lots of embroidery

I think the mistake I may have made with this patch is sewing beads to close to the edge, I think I will have problems when I sew the seams.

Altered Book - Pages 65-74

More from the altered book Somerset Studio 2003 Art Journal Calendar. You can't tell on some pages that it is an altered book, it could be any sketchbook.
Don't know if you were expecting more than 6 pages, ie 65-74 - I'm just using the calendar pages and leaving the art pages as they were [in the book one side is art, one side calendar]

I remembered to join in with Paint Party Friday this week, go along to see more art.

Patterns

The top image is made up of the two patterns below. The first one has been repeated and used as a background.
Android tablet doodles.

Altered Book - Pages 49-62

It has been a long time since I posted pages from this book even though it has been finished for a while. Here are 8 pages, there are too many to post at one go.

The head on this character was found in a brochure,

I used an old Woman's Weekly from 1986 on this page. {saved for a pattern that was in it}

The cat was cut on my cutting machine, my design. The background is a print from one of my tablet doodles.

The weird top creature was another tablet doodle, the middle was from wallpaper [I think] and the bottom one I drew in the book.

A collage with found papers and card, watercolour paper and a handmade clay button.

Yellow Flowers on Squares

First came the yellow flower, painted on my android tablet using the Corel Mobile App. Then the flowers were multiplied and put on a background of squares to make a repeat pattern for fabric or wrapping paper.

Finished Green Crazy Patch

Looking at Queeniepatch's blog yesterday gave me a reminder that I hadn't posted images of my crazy patch that I finished a couple of weeks ago.
Sharon Boggon gives lots of tips in her book The Visual Guide to Crazy Quilting Design and one of the tips was to use plastic canvas to help keep your stitching even and straight. I didn't have any so some of my stitching is not neat and regular although it's not as noticeable to me now that the block is finished.  I did try using some tapestry canvas and it did work to some extent although the count was smaller so two squares were equal to one on the plastic canvas. I also found my marks were getting rubbed off as I worked. The ribbon roses [light green] are very small as I only had one length and I didn't want to run out before the end of the row. I've been working on another patch which I started last week.
