Rolling Stamp 84, Fabric and Paper

My arty friends and myself set ourselves challenges and one for this month is to use/do something with a tube. I haven't made a rolling stamp for a while so I thought I would do a new one. I used it on the background paper above and on the fabric below. The fabric was used originally as a pressing cloth when I used to steam digitally printed fabrics and it had some marks on it. I have been adding paint splodges on purpose to try and make it more interesting and I used the new rolling stamp on it in two different colours. I've started to quilt and stitch on it since taking the photo and I will show you the progress in a few days. Click on the images to enlarge. There is a picture of the rolling stamp below and the marks it makes.

TAST 9

Another page for my fabric journal. The stitch this week is couching and I have couched threads down with ribbon yarn and couched ribbon yarn darn with threads. I have used the regular style of couching around the rectangular piece of painted paper and the green ribbon. I have also couched ribbon yarn down with herringbone stitch and feather stitch. To hold the upcycled metal ring in place I have used detached chain stitch and buttonhole stitch. The background fabric was painted.

TAST 5

Take a Stitch Tuesday - this weeks stitch is Herringbone Stitch
and I did actually get it done on Tuesday, but there has been a lot of dust and chaos around here!
Most of the patches are hand painted/stamped papers and transfer printed lace, another page for the fabric journal.
We are having a new kitchen, but before it is put in we have had rewiring done, so lots of new holes in the walls and ceiling - the plasterer covering over the mess as I write. At the moment it is an empty room, all the old units and fittings taken out, no central heating or lights/electricity in there, and kitchen contents spread around the house, so as you can imagine there has been quite a bit of disruption with power off at times and no access to my computer[!] and the dust gets everywhere.....still it will be great when it is done.

Handmade Rolling Stamp

This is another rolling stamp from my collection. To make a similar one, draw the design on paper first to make sure the pattern flows correctly at the top and bottom i.e. where the join will be [measure the tube by wrapping the fun foam round it to get the correct length]. Then draw the design onto the fun foam, cut it out and stick it around a large stiff card tube [I used UHU or use the sticky backed fun foam].
Below are some of the papers I made using this stamp.
