Mörk Borg - Wretched Royalty

Hey all ! So just a quick one today (always ice to have a bot of a palette cleanser in between bigger projects).
If you've been paying attention lately, there's been a great interest over a small RPG named Mörk Borg. It's set in a very grim, macabre yet somehow grotesque and fun setting with a very strong visual identity. The rules themselves are very light and sandboxy which I absolutely love and over the past month one of my gaming buddies has had the kindness to run an online series of games for us to test the game.

If you haven't seen this yet then the rock you've been hiding under was very efficient !

Fantasy dwarf band

Ever since my last Mordheim campaign, I knew I wanted to build a dwarf band. But you probably know how life gets in the way and this project somehow got postponed for about 5 years, yikes !
that does mean I was able to add a few models I deemed worthy to my selection and it was a very satisfying moment to finally scratch all those off the list !

The Nuln Spearman - Tribute

So after painting one the rarest ork in the world (Tribute), I could only try and paint some even rarer model and what more iconic and elusive model than the nuln spearman ?
You've probably heard about it and know its legendary status as the simplest and yet most unachievable models to come by.

Great Orc mercenary - Happy Orctober !

Alright it's been half the month already and I'm only having an entry for orctober done now !

To be honest, after being very orc neutral for years I tend to jump on any occasion to paint some now and after being offered this fine fella by Jamies from Old school miniatures I knew he had to join my band of mercenaries, just look at the swag of him !

Necromancers - Legions of Nagash

Hey everyone, so little side step here as I took the opportunity to join a group challenge and clear the desk a little !

When Warcry was released, I didn't feel like starting a fresh new band and the ones that I fancied weren't released yet so I thought the smart thing to do was to build on top of my sepulchral guard, I just needed a necromancer (quickly bought and built) and a few more skeletons (quickly built from kits I had around) and that was the promise of great things. Fast forward a few months, world pandemic and all the stuff you know and I hadn't touched any of my additions when Sho3box offered a joint challenge for us to each paint a couple of wizard/apprentice in anticipation of Frostgrave Season 2.

Zombie slayer or... zombie slayer ?

Alright now, little time ago, Jamie from Oldschool Miniatures kindly sent me an orc  and added this unreleased zombified slayer to paint.
Well dwarves are cool, slayers doubly so and zombies on top ? Say no more, this guy (sort of) quickly moved to the top of the queue.
It's a really cool sculpt from Juan Montano, full of oldschool charm, that paints really well.

Empire mercenary band - Mordheim

Alright, one project done ! After doing the first 6 members if this band in groups of 3 I thought I had the colour scheme well in hand to finish the last 7 in one go !
this takes me to a total of 13 (eeew scary...) and provides me with many options to grow the band throughout a campaign I hope.

Mordheim mercenary band - More puff and more slash

Hey there, still working on the mercenary band for Mordheim, I've decided to go with the big hitters now with a champion and 2 sword players.
This guys still have the extravagant style the others had but you can also tell they're more about showing giant pieces of steel through other people's skulls than anything !

Mordheim Mercenary band

Greetings all, I'm pretty chuffed to be able to show you the start of this new project ! It's been taking a while as a back burner but now I feel like I have the good hang of it and should be able to move at good speed !
I've wanted to do an empire/mercenary band for Mordheim for a while now and have been slowly collecting the right models to convey the particular vibe I wanted to channel.

Shadows under Bogenhaced - Mordheim campaign

Last week end, I had the chance to be invited to play a mordheim campaign with the very same folks as last year.
I was very eager to see them again and play a new campaign with my freshly painted undead band.

The Sultans of the night - Direwolves

Hi all, just a quickie today. Yesterday night I've managed to knock 4 models at once !
Well OK, they're probably the most easy models to do...

I've got my hands on this bunch of oldschool wolves (some of which are from Kev Adams I believe) and got them done in a night.
Both Frostgrave and MOrdheim can use wolves so once again I'm ticking a few boxes with these.

Bean and Scones, the skeleton thieves

What does any self respecting undead force need ? Come on... Skeletons yes ! So for Valentine's day, I had to paint a couple...
As you might have noticed, the force was pretty meaty and was somehow lacking "dry" elements... Well the only way to do things is to do them right isn't it ? I had to get a few skeletons in the troup and I had the perfect models for it !

Riff Raff and Evil Ash - Undead servants

Although I thoroughly enjoyed the charms of Hungary and Budapest, getting back behind the brushes did feel great. I had started 2 models bafore leaving and I was eager to get back on them.
These 2 models, despite being of very different statures and status, bear one thing in common.
Come on, I'm sur you know who they're inspired from...

Zombie eaters...

Never was much into zombies to begin with but I've actually painted quite a few since last year. And I have to admit loving the process. They're very rewarding and quite forgiving and often have plenty of silly details that make most of their charm (how else could we love dead but walking rotting meat ?).

Ghoulish servants

Still working on a project that require a lot of stamina, I'm treating myself with pauses like these guys that are just fun to paint.
Following my last post about the vampires, I actually lied. Bad I know.
It was for a good cause though, honest.

The vampires from the Baronies

OK, so new year, new projects, some dating from way back and some brand new. Well, this one is actually a bit of both.
I've been toying with the idea of an undead force for a long time now but with my "armies" days behind me, I just didn't have the will nor stamina to do a big project like this anymore.
Good thing is, Frostgrave and Mordheim followed by Dragon Rampant with the Champions of Law have tought me small forces can easily made and augmented if you want to scratch a special itch.

With that in mind, since I had painted a zombie for deadcember, I just had to paint a model now and then to slowly but steadily grow my group into a playable force.
Frostgrave being centered around the wizard and his(her) apprentice, I opted for a pair of vampires. Vampires are cool. Well they can be.
Some are. OK ?

Mordheim Campaign Round 5 : LAW VERSUS CHAOS !!!

Alright, it only was normal to end this campaign by facing the chaos band ! I don't know if it was a fluke or a deliberate choice from the GM but it was brilliant and fitting !
Thought the previous battle had left some of the band's members weakened, I had managed to bring the band to its natural limit (12 models) and add an ogre (would have been silly to keep money since it was the last game !
Let me do a brief recap :
Round one : The lost Prince

This time I would be facing Christophe AKA Bubu AKA Bewbs.

Round 5 : PIT OF CHAOS !

Aquila could smell the stench of chaos in this cave, he knew he had some evil to smite. Mutants, possessed and beatsmen were starting to invade the place. In their unfortune, they woke a giant spider up...

That was all the diversion the knights d'Uralex needed to leave their cover to start getting into position., They'd force the chaotics to split...

Mordheim Campaign round 3 and 4 : Fight from the heights to the depths

Today, there's not one but TWO battle reports on the menu as teh first one was rather short and simple !
The 3rd game we played during our Mordheim campaign was fougt against the dwarves of Edouard AKA Bood-Wargames.

The scenario we picked was rather unpleasant for me as it implied the champions of Law were split. A poor series of dice rolls meant I had to start the game with a single character on the table and that the opponent had 25% chance of starting on the very same table side as this model... Against all odds heh ?
Funnilly enough the following dice rolls were clearly in my favour as most of the rest of my troops appeared in the back of Bood's units !

Mordheim Campaign Round 2 - The champions of Law and the quest for Warpstone !

So after the first round against the orcs and goblins, it was time for the knights d'Uralex, proud champions of Law to encounter new foes...
For this second game, I was to face the elves of Thomas AKA Pellox... We were each assigned fragments of Warpstone which could be taken by taking down any hero. The aim was to get as many heroes without losing any...

________________________

The quest for Warpstone !

The band had gained a few goods and some fragments of warpstone and they decided to return to their camp. Only problem was that a band of elves was doing exactly the same... As soon as Aquila sensed the elvish presence, he set some of his men to scout the place. They had acountered elves before and he knew this could get stupidly one-sided if wasn't careful enough...

Mordheim Campaign Round 1 - The champions of Law and the lost prince...

Alright, this one is an usual one today. I'm back from a whole gaming WE in le Havre in France to meet a bunch of extremely nice enthusiasts and we have managed to play a whole campaign of Mordheim with 5 games in the course of 2 days !
I have to say this was a double first for me as I had never played Mordheim before and never had I played that many rounds of the same game in a row.

To play this campaign, I had selected my champions of Law (played as witch hunters) to keep it oldschool and to have the opportunity to play this warband I took so much pleasure to paint.

Here's a quick (but picture heavy) report of this wonderful WE !

PLAYERS :

All the tables and games had been prepared by Cédric AKA Punished Ced and believe me when I say he's done one hell of an awesome work. I've rarely played on such magnificent tables and plenty of NPCs were just awaiting for us to roll weird events ! That was GMing brought to an other level really (plus he's the kindest of hosts).

The Elf warband of Thomas AKA Pellox (think about a whole army of Legolas wannabes and you get the idea) :

Chaos agents from Christophe AKA Bubu AKA Bewbs :

The dwarf contingent from Edouard AKA Bood Wargames AKA Bood :

The Norse warband from Lucie :

And the filthy orcs and goblins (or part of) from Noa :

So that was 6 players fighting for glory and a whole lot of other motives in a series of 5 games to enable them to encounter every other player over the WE.
