The Nuln Spearman - Tribute

So after painting one the rarest ork in the world (Tribute), I could only try and paint some even rarer model and what more iconic and elusive model than the nuln spearman ?
You've probably heard about it and know its legendary status as the simplest and yet most unachievable models to come by.

Darl Charwyn - Chaos Renegade from the Realms of chaos

May I present you Darl Charwyn, the dark emissary of the chaos gods on the remote system of Bramkidge. You might remember him from a few posts ago and he's going to be the leader of my renegade force this summer for a campaign held at Warhammer World with my friends.

Three flies and an eagle in the hive. Inquisimunda battle report

Holidays mean little painting or modelling but actual gaming so I guess it's an added bonus to seeing friends and getting some fresh air !
I had the privilege to get a game of Inquisimunda with Martin Grandbarbe and his band of Nurgle worshipers facing my Inquisitor retinue.

The Shadow legion

It sometimes takes a good self-kicking in the rear to get some things done...
This has been precisely the case with this project. I got the genesteealer hybrids from the Overkill box about a year ago, build a band of genetically engineered warriors in September 2016 and only just managed to finish painting them after letting them aside half done for months.
The recent release of Shadow wars : Armageddon has proven to be the sparkle that could ignite my interest and after a slow come back I decided to set my standards lower to get them done rapidly.

Shadows under Bogenhaced - Mordheim campaign

Last week end, I had the chance to be invited to play a mordheim campaign with the very same folks as last year.
I was very eager to see them again and play a new campaign with my freshly painted undead band.

The Sultans of the night - Direwolves

Hi all, just a quickie today. Yesterday night I've managed to knock 4 models at once !
Well OK, they're probably the most easy models to do...

I've got my hands on this bunch of oldschool wolves (some of which are from Kev Adams I believe) and got them done in a night.
Both Frostgrave and MOrdheim can use wolves so once again I'm ticking a few boxes with these.

Bean and Scones, the skeleton thieves

What does any self respecting undead force need ? Come on... Skeletons yes ! So for Valentine's day, I had to paint a couple...
As you might have noticed, the force was pretty meaty and was somehow lacking "dry" elements... Well the only way to do things is to do them right isn't it ? I had to get a few skeletons in the troup and I had the perfect models for it !

Riff Raff and Evil Ash - Undead servants

Although I thoroughly enjoyed the charms of Hungary and Budapest, getting back behind the brushes did feel great. I had started 2 models bafore leaving and I was eager to get back on them.
These 2 models, despite being of very different statures and status, bear one thing in common.
Come on, I'm sur you know who they're inspired from...

Zombie eaters...

Never was much into zombies to begin with but I've actually painted quite a few since last year. And I have to admit loving the process. They're very rewarding and quite forgiving and often have plenty of silly details that make most of their charm (how else could we love dead but walking rotting meat ?).

Ghoulish servants

Still working on a project that require a lot of stamina, I'm treating myself with pauses like these guys that are just fun to paint.
Following my last post about the vampires, I actually lied. Bad I know.
It was for a good cause though, honest.

The vampires from the Baronies

OK, so new year, new projects, some dating from way back and some brand new. Well, this one is actually a bit of both.
I've been toying with the idea of an undead force for a long time now but with my "armies" days behind me, I just didn't have the will nor stamina to do a big project like this anymore.
Good thing is, Frostgrave and Mordheim followed by Dragon Rampant with the Champions of Law have tought me small forces can easily made and augmented if you want to scratch a special itch.

With that in mind, since I had painted a zombie for deadcember, I just had to paint a model now and then to slowly but steadily grow my group into a playable force.
Frostgrave being centered around the wizard and his(her) apprentice, I opted for a pair of vampires. Vampires are cool. Well they can be.
Some are. OK ?

Warpriest of Law - Champions of Law season 2

A bit more champions of law today but this one has a little something special !
I've been in contact with Gretchin from Greenstuff Gretchin recently and we've been sharing common interests and ideas for future projects. You might remember she and Axiom did a joint project about an astropath and she's proposed me to convert a champion of Law !
Given how talented she is, I was obviously thrilled !

The Dragon Master ! - Champions of Law season 2

WOOOOOOHOOO ! I've actually painted a dragon !

Of course there's nothing to be particularly proud of since almost everyone has but I have to say I'm pretty chuffed with having this box ticked !
I got this model when I went to knavecon in May to play some Frostgrave with my knights of Law along with my WIPster friends. I got the model from Captain "dragonmaster" Crooks and I have to say I was very eager to work on it even if a little intimidated...

Rats in spaaaace - Jes Goodwin my hero

Wow, that's quite an achievement here. A relief actually. Space skaven are long term residents at the top of my "to do " list but for some reason I've never quite managed to take the time to fully go into it. The main reason might be I wanted to paint them all at once so that sort of process tends to make things a bit more impressive to get on with.
Anyway I'm glad I've managed to pull some fingers out of some orifices and finish no less than 12 models at once (2 of the little rats above come from my rogue quest project.
But why space skaven ?
The answer lies in one name : Jes Goodwin.

Wizard apprentice of Law !

WOW ! I've rarely managed to do that but I actually DID finish a model from the bginning to the end in one single session !
I've been thinking about what model to use as an apprentice for my champions of Law in games of Mordheim lately and no model seemed to fit. Then I remembered I had got this Imperial wizard for 1€ amongst other models in a trade (couldn't miss such a model for that price really !) and thought he'd be perfect !

The model was (very poorly if you look at the mouldline running acorss his left arm) prepared and primed so that yesterday night, all I had to do was sit and paint !

Smells like Kev Spirit

Look, I've said it before but I'm not exactly a great orc lover here. I know I've said it a fair few times already but I keep coming back to painting some now that I've started a couple years back for orctober.
Thing is, I still wouldn't want to have a huge force of them in any game nor would I even want to play them that much but for some reason I feel compelled to having a force of them for my games.
Since this year, I've started to make warbands of all sorts for fantasy just like I used to do for Rogue Trader. That means when I saw a sale on the Oldhammer forum with plenty of cool orcs from Kev Adams, I took the opportunity to scratch the itch.

Mordheim Campaign Round 5 : LAW VERSUS CHAOS !!!

Alright, it only was normal to end this campaign by facing the chaos band ! I don't know if it was a fluke or a deliberate choice from the GM but it was brilliant and fitting !
Thought the previous battle had left some of the band's members weakened, I had managed to bring the band to its natural limit (12 models) and add an ogre (would have been silly to keep money since it was the last game !
Let me do a brief recap :
Round one : The lost Prince

This time I would be facing Christophe AKA Bubu AKA Bewbs.

Round 5 : PIT OF CHAOS !

Aquila could smell the stench of chaos in this cave, he knew he had some evil to smite. Mutants, possessed and beatsmen were starting to invade the place. In their unfortune, they woke a giant spider up...

That was all the diversion the knights d'Uralex needed to leave their cover to start getting into position., They'd force the chaotics to split...

Mordheim Campaign round 3 and 4 : Fight from the heights to the depths

Today, there's not one but TWO battle reports on the menu as teh first one was rather short and simple !
The 3rd game we played during our Mordheim campaign was fougt against the dwarves of Edouard AKA Bood-Wargames.

The scenario we picked was rather unpleasant for me as it implied the champions of Law were split. A poor series of dice rolls meant I had to start the game with a single character on the table and that the opponent had 25% chance of starting on the very same table side as this model... Against all odds heh ?
Funnilly enough the following dice rolls were clearly in my favour as most of the rest of my troops appeared in the back of Bood's units !

Frostgrave Wizard from Asgard !

2016 is 3 days old now so it's about time I got something painted ! Since yesterday was sunday, I felt it would be cool to make like I did for my champions of law and paint a single model, start to finish, for my frostgrave warband.
Like I said in a previous post, I'm going to use Frostgrave as an excuse to get those wonderful Jes Goodwin barbarians done. Even though it is designed with Forstgrave in mind, I'm pretty confident the group will be just as cool with WHFB or even Mordheim so that's double win from where I stand.

Since everything in Frostgrave is based on the wizard I obviously has to begin with him to set the proper mood for my group.

Elite Venator Leader - The simping hunter

WOOOOOHOOOOO ! I really thought I'd end this year on a bunch of dogs but I just managed to take the time to finish this lovely model !
You might not be familiar with it and none could hold this against you as it's one of those rare confrontation models you couldn't find in any catalogue and which were only available for a limited period in certain places.

A real shame, because it's a very fine model with delicate sculpting and loads of character as you can see !
