Many of you are familiar with advertising through Project Wonderful. I just redid my ad boxes in the right sidebar. Please click on my mug over there to get your low cost ad. It may even be free if no one else has bid yet. I rarely filled 3 ad boxes, so I downsized it to 2. I hope they are full all the time now. If you have an arts and crafts related business, you might want to grab one of the ad boxes on my blog.
Get your daily craft fix here as I talk about the projects I'm working on. For more specifics, please visit my other blogs by viewing my profile. Just Focus on the Art
Hello my friends,
I got a pasteboard box at Michael's and I happily went out on my friend's patio and painted it red and black. Next I get to glue on all kinds of charms and cool bits.
My friend also had a wooden box to paint. Hers will be a medium blue shade with seashells. Funny how we both had a box project to work on.
I also got some stuffing so I can continue on with my jester doll pins inspired by one my daughter has had for years.
I got a few big things I could have brought from home but didn't want to haul on all those train trips. I also got a wee bit of embroidery floss and an embroidery hoop. I have plenty at home but I need it now for this doll project or just for fun. I swear I need a tether to my art supplies to be happy in life. Otherwise I go nuts trying to beg, borrow or steal craft supplies. I almost envy people that don't have that need. I swear I'd be rich today if I nipped the buying craft supplies thing in the bud. My plans to live a normal life by my art earnings has never panned out that way. First an artist needs to earn enough to cover supplies. Then something has to be left over to pay the bills. Then there needs to be enough beyond that to have a good quality of life; you know the weird things like feeding pets and putting kids through college and having something left for retirement.
This wasn't meant to be a rant. I really should do something about that depression slipping through.

Mosaic Birdhouses and Boxes
The weather was gorgeous so I got to paint outside. I finished up the 4 mosaic projects. I just love how they came out. They will make great Mother's Day gifts. And I can't wait to do more. I've already started collecting things that look like they'd go well as mosaic ephemera. There are so many ideas I want to try out.
I think when they are good and dry I'll spray some sort of sealer over them to protect them a bit.
I got both the wooden items and the flattened glass chips at Dollar Tree. The thing about dollar stores is they may or may not get the same items in again once they sell out, so you have to grab them when you see them.

Pile of Boxes
When I get up I try to get some stuff done outside before it gets hot. So this morning after I did some stretching, I worked on crocheting my raffia hat so I can wear it tomorrow. It's coming along nicely. I went to Flickr and looked up crochet raffia hat and found a few, but not nearly as many as I would have expected. Maybe there are not a lot of artists crocheting with raffia anymore. It is harder to work with than yarn because each strand is only about 4 or 5 feet long. I need to remember to take my camera outside with me and take some photos to show you guys.
I've noticed a lot of bloggers now doing give aways if you comment on their blog post. I understand that is one way to make your blog appealing to search engines and to get lots of comments. But seriously, I would love it if you just comment because you feel moved to do so without having to feel bribed to participate. I know a lot of you are reading these posts. But I only seem to get regular comments from about two people. What about the rest of you? I know you are out there; I can hear you breathing.
At any rate, I have tons to do before the fair tomorrow. I haven't even found my skirt yet. I think it's in one of the boxes behind me so now I have to rip my room apart, and that's always fun. Then I hope the skirt will actually fit my ever expanding waistline. Wish me well. If you don't hear from me again it means I'm buried under a pile of boxes and can't get out.

rubber chicken
Today when I was cleaning, I found a crocheted 'rubber' chicken I had started months ago and forgotten all about. That's another one to add to the good ol' project list. We got some legal/letter size storage boxes from Office Depo in packages of six and I'm doing a major reorganizing of my craft supplies. Being multitalented has a cost and that is you end up with so many parts to so many things it's unbelievable.

Furniture
We just inherited some furniture so the rush is on to tame the craft monster in my house. I bought 24 boxes and I'm in the process of sorting everything into them so I at least have a snowball's chance in hell of finding them when I have the next Etsy sale or craft fair. I don't understand how I can be so creative and yet so inept at organizing things. Sigh. Oh and I have a sore throat so that makes things ever so much more fun.
