Lularoe Inspired

Hi stampers!  I think I've mentioned before that I like Lularoe clothing.  I wouldn't call myself obsessed or anything but a number of items have found their way into my closet.  They have some great color and pattern combinations and I find them pretty inspiring for stamping!  Recently, a berry burst dress wound up in my closet with a vest that was soft suede, berry burst, and crushed curry flowers.  Sitting in church on Sunday, I realized that it would make a fabulous card (I promise I was paying attention to the message as well, hehe).  So, during Ian's nap, I whipped this up.

Annnnnnd....I kind of LOVE it!  I've not made a lot lately that I LOVE so this was a fun surprise!

I stamped the flowers in soft suede and then used clear embossing powder over them really quickly.  If you're fast, you can totally emboss with our classic inks.  I did this rather than watercoloring with it because I tend to have trouble with the red separating out with soft suede so I thought this was a great way to avoid that but still incorporate the color like I wanted to.  My doily needed something so I sponged it with berry burst.  A few of our glitter dots were the finishing touch along with a few gold accents.  The dots are great because they come in various shades.  For instance, if I'd used so saffron as my yellow, a few of the lighter shade dots would have worked well even though the catalog says they are crushed curry.  I love when things are versatile!

Again, don't be afraid to cut your sentiments up into little bits and pieces.  It often works a lot better than the whole thing, this one sure did!  And adding a little bit of black card stock really made the sentiment pop!

Inspiration is all around us.  Where do you look for inspiration?

So Long, Farewell

Hi stampers!  Today is the last day of the 2016-2017 annual catalog and the 2017 Occasions catalog!  Where has the time gone????  And while I'm excited for all the new stuff in the new catalog starting tomorrow, I'm going to miss some things as always!

I still can't believe that the oh so succulent set and framelits didn't make it in!  They are amazing and the new in colors were MADE for them, just look!

I've been meaning to combine these for a while but I just now finally got around to it.  Talk about in the nick of time!  I used all 5 in colors and I did some stamping off and some rock and roll technique. I kind of just played around and stamped a whole bunch of these to figure out what I liked.  And then I spent a bunch of time cutting them out with my framelits.  I did fussy cut the two little bud type stem and flowers.  I'm a bit puzzled why there isn't a die for those!?!

Isn't it just a fabulous little arrangement?  I'm literally about to cry that these are retiring!  The greeting is fresh fig stamped on berry burst.  I stamped about 5 combinations and tried them all out before settling on this.

See those little splatters?  I have been STRUGGLING to make splatters lately.  Why they ever retired the splatter tool is beyond me, clearly they need to consult ME before making these decisions, right? :-)  Anyway, enter the Artisans.  I just love the ladies on the team and they have helped me leaps and bounds already this year!  Many of them suggested flicking a marker in the cap and while I was scared to do it to my precious markers, it worked!  They also kind of conceal the little ink smudge I got on the card front.  Don't you just HATE that????

Anyway, out with the old and in with the new I guess!  Tomorrow the new catalog goes live so get ready!

Fab Friday 113

Hi stampers!  Happy Friday...or FriYAY as I'm definitely calling it today!  I'm super happy it's Friday and a long weekend since Ian has still been napping short with the weaning of his pacifier!  He does fine at night but naps are a different beast!  A few days were better but it's hard to get much done if he only gives me 45 minutes to an hour and then is still tired and REALLY crabby.  I even tried getting in his crib with him, ha!  I think he fell asleep and snored for like 10 seconds then rolled over and said get up, lol!  It's also been hard for me feeling like he's a ticking time bomb :-)  I really struggled with those sort of feelings when he was an infant and I'm not happy that anxiety is back!

Anyway, he did sleep better Thursday so I made a card for Fab Friday and then realized I made the next challenge instead of 113.  OY!  It's bad when the challenge coordinator gets it wrong! :-)  Thankfully, he stayed asleep long enough for me to whip out one with this sketch.

And here's what I made:

I've needed to break out this set and this DSP for a while now!  This card ought to find it's way to my momma since she loves all things chickens.  If she wasn't so busy with her volunteer job and having to come spend weeks at my house :-) she would probably have some!

I did a lot of scrunching with both my doilies here.  It's pretty easy, you just go around and scrunch them down toward the middle.  I always get them looking how I want them and then use a few glue dots to keep them in the shape I want.  I actually accidentally got the white one caught up in my paper piercer which I use to place my dots and tore it!  It's kind of covered in the end by my sentiment but really, it looked kind of cool and very rustic :-)

I'm hoping to stamp over the weekend but Jon's parents are coming to visit us in Tulsa for the first time so I'm sure they will keep us busy!  One of these days I'm going to get better at stamping and blogging daily!

Make sure to check out the challenge site if you haven't and play along!

Happy stamping!
