Cue The New Year

Hi stampers and Happy New Year!  It's hard to believe another year has come and gone!  2017 was a pretty big one for us!  We sold our house in Chicago and moved to Oklahoma, I broke my foot, Ian turned 3 and started preschool, and then we ended the year with Jon's melanoma scare.  Oh, and then I was on the Artisan Design Team which was ah-mazing!  Really, that's a pretty full year!

I'm going to try to stamp and blog a lot, but I make no promises.  You all know I'm so not organized anymore :-)  As cold as it's been, even here in OK, it makes me just want to hibernate...which I may or may not have done under THREE blankets for the past couple of days ;-)  I did manage to stamp a little so I whipped this up!

And yes, I'm feeling pretty clever right now...I really soak it up on the rare occasion that happens, LOL!  I love the Picture Perfect Birthday set and it dawned on me that it would make a great new year card.  My sentiment is partially made from the CUTE little hostess set from the Holiday Catalog which only has a few days left!

If you're wondering how I did my confetti, I simply took the negative portion of my die cut as a stencil and very lightly made a pencil line.  I stamped around that and then made sure to line my stitched shape up within the circle.

And don't mind my Artisan watermark, I realized last night, it's the only watermark I currently have so I'm using it until I get another made.  Don't yell at me ;-)

Anyway, I do hope you've enjoyed my creations over 2017 and I'm excited to share more in 2018.

Wishing you all health, happiness, and creativity in the new year!

Stampin' Blends Cards - Stampin' Up Global Design Team Blog Hop

Hi stampers!  HOW in the world is it November already?  The holidays and last few months of the year go so darn fast!  And, just in time for your holiday crafting, the Artisan Design Team is showcasing the BRAND NEW Stampin' Blends Markers.  Stampin’ Up!’s premier alcohol markers, Stampin’ Blends are high-quality, dual-tip markers that come in 12 of Stampin’ Up!’s exclusive colors, each with a light and dark shade. Maybe you don’t think of yourself as an artist, but you don’t need to be because these markers make it super easy to blend colors and create gorgeous works of art!

I shared a little bit about these yesterday as well, so check out those tips and tricks after you hop!

I have a few cards to share.  The first one is actually the second card I made because I totally forgot we were supposed to showcase a couple of specific colors (Night of Navy and Pink Pirouette).  Thankfully, I remembered right after I finished it.  So, I'll get to that in a minute but here's my re-do.

The Ready For Christmas bundle creates such a fun little scene and it was so fun to color all the little accents.  I designed this with the wreath as my main inspiration!  I wanted a staircase with a wreath and it's so cute!  And now who says blue and pink can't be Christmas colors?  This would be perfect for a family with two boys and a girl ;-) For my staircase, I really wanted to add some texture, so instead of stamping it, I embossed kraft paper (from the Merry Little Christmas Cardstock Pack) and then cut it out and sponged ink all over it.  I also VERY CAREFULLY colored some of our rhinestones pink.  SU doesn't really recommend this because it can ruin the tip of your marker but I'm a rebel like that and was VERY careful!  Did I mention that? :-)

For my next card, I borrowed an idea from fellow DT member, Holly (thanks girl)!  She made a stunning lantern card where the lanterns looked like they were glowing and I loved it!  We were sent the Color Me Happy stamp set and Color Me Happy Project Kit so I broke into it and used a couple of parts of it here.  I thought a new years card with the little Chinese lanterns would be cute and quite appropriate, no?  The lanterns are fun to color and watch come to life! Don't they really look like they glow?  I added some of the gold tape and a fun little tassle from the kit.  And don't forget about Teeny Tiny Wishes for that sentiment!  I have been reaching for that set a lot lately!  It's an oldie but a goodie!

Who knew pink and blue made such good holiday cards!

And finally, here is my original card in more traditional holiday colors.  Isn't this bundle just the cutest?

And there you have it!  This girl who used to HATE to color and be pretty crappy at it (lol) is now an artist (said all French-like)!  Order yours today and let your inner artist out!

Now, take a trip on over to the Netherlands and visit Miriam!  She's sure to knock your socks off!

Happy hopping, stamping....and coloring ;-)

Display Samples - Happy New Year

Hi stampers!  I just want to take a minute to say, no matter where you are in the US or otherwise, I love you my friends.  I'm so happy that even when the world is a little topsy-turvy, we can make and share pretty things to hopefully spread a little love and kindness <3 p="">
Any who, moving on to more display samples.  I was a bit of a rebel it seems, and made a wide variety of projects.  While I love seeing new stuff, I also love seeing creations with stuff we already have, so I hope you do too!  And one of the items I was working with was the designer acetate that I used on my tag from yesterday.  If you recall, it took me about forever to realize it was double sided and the silver was on the back of the gold sheet I'd been working with :-)

I created this happy new year card since silver polka dots just seemed fitting!  I used the tin of tags set for the snowflakes and layered the acetate over with some glue dots behind the focal point.  I wasn't happy with how it was laying down near the top (or not laying down if you will) so I put just the tiniest dots of our fine tip glue pen behind a few of the dots.  The TINIEST of dots.  The cheers stamp is actually from the oh happy day card kit and I paired it with the sentiment from teeny tiny wishes.  The fancy frost sequins were the finishing touch after some vellum and a doily.

I hope you enjoyed this sample!

Happy stamping!
