Aquaman Squeely

Check out this adorable Aquaman bath toy now available through Hallmark. Not sure why the Sea King needs a ride, but who cares when the toy is so cute!

Imaginext DC Super Heroes & Villains

It started out humbly, but over the years Fisher Price's Imaginext line has really grown into something remarkable, when it comes to translating some of the more fun parts of the DCU into plastic form.

Case in point, this set, which could easily be called "Brave and the Bold"--Batman and Aquaman teaming-up against two of their most fearsome foes, Killer Croc and Black Manta, complete with mechanical shark!

DC may have given up the ghost when it comes to the Super Friends brand, but Fisher Price just keeps chugging along.

Mego Web Hand Aquaman

Courtesy the awesome MegoMuseum.com comes this shot of the uber-rare, never-produced web-handed Aquaman doll. Apparently this version was shown in a 1978 catalog but never put into production. This sole example resides in the (presumably non-webbed) hands of a Mego collector.

If you haven't ever checked out the Mego Museum, make sure you do--but only if you've got many, many hours to kill! It's like visiting the Met, but a lot more fun.

Super Poderes Store Display

Check out this nifty Spanish "Super Poderes Collecion" in-store display sign, festooned with that classic JLGL (PBHN) stock art! Absolutely gorgeous--what kid could possibly not want to pick up a few of these figures when you've got this kind of thing staring them in the face?

Lego Dimensions - Aquaman

Lego has embraced Aquaman like few companies, here's another fine example of a Sea King-centric Lego toy. These Lego Dimension Fun Packs retail for around ten bucks or so, not a bad price for what you get!

Hot Wheels Aquaman Roadster

This Hot Wheels Aquaman Roadster is one of those items I've been aware of for a while now, but for some reason just kept slipping my mind when it came time to track it down and post it. Luckily, newest F.O.A.M. member Jerry Cogliano did the job for me, sending me a pic of this super-rad ride that the Sea King completely does not need!

Still, a fun item nonetheless, with some nice Classic Aquaman art on the card. Thanks Jerry, and welcome to F.O.A.M.!

Aquaman Hot Wheels

Does Aquaman need a car? Of course not! But who cares when the ride is this sweet?

This is the Aquaman Hot Wheels car currently available at McDonald's, as part of their Happy Meal campaign. This was a real team effort--the photo was sent to me by F.O.A.M.er Barry Fackler, and the car itself was designed (along with all the others in the DC Comics set) by F.O.A.M.er Luke Daab, Senior Art Director of Digital, Creata

Vroom, vroom!

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Aquaman Action Figure

The, er, flood of BvS-related Aquaman toys started while the Shrine was still on hiatus, so I'm still catching up a bit. This action figure was one of the first that appeared on store shelves. If I was Aquaman and had to walk around with all that heavy stuff on, I'd be pretty grim-looking too!

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Cosbabys

More from the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice merchandising onslaught, a line of "cosbabys" featuring Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Batman, Superman, Batman, and Batman!

Justice League Nesting Dolls

Check out this adorable set of Justice League nesting dolls! I would argue with the order of course, but let's stay positive. (I also think there should have been one more really teeny one of the Atom).

Super Friends Retro Aquaman Doll

Coming in March from Figures Toy Co. is this Mego-riffic Aquaman doll, part of the deluxe Super Friends line! The Sea King here is pretty close to the one seen in the cartoon, complete with tousled blonde hair. I hope he comes with a JLA Communicator that you can bury in the sand for a million years, as well.

Batman v Superman Mopeez Plush

Another piece of the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice merchandising onslaught, here is a plush Mopeez figure of the King of the Seven Seas, from the people at Funko. So cute but so sour-faced!

Justice League Coloring Set

F.O.A.M.er Ilke Hincer sent me a link to a Hake's auction for an item I had never seen or heard of before--a 1960s Justice League of America Coloring Set!

Hot on the heels of the Filmation cartoons, there was a brief explosion of JLA-related merchandise, with the Martian Manhunter even getting in on the action, as you can see above. Most of them featured painted portraits of our heroes, which give these items a distinct, almost Norman Rockwell-esque look.

Almost all the images you were meant to color are taken from DC comics at the time, and the group shot is the only one with Aquaman. Still, an amazing item, and I love that eight + years into the Shrine there are still new pieces of Aqua-merch to find. Thanks Ilke!

Post Script: They are putting one of these out in tandem with Batman v Superman, but all the colored pencils are brown. Thank you, I'm outta here!

Aquaman Tech Deck

F.O.A.M.
er Christopher Chance sent this in, and I really have no idea what it is. I could Google it and find out of course, but I've led a fairly satisfying life to this point not knowing, so I don't see the need to change that. Thanks Chris!

Aquaman Figuras De Metal

sg
sg
After running the Shrine for over eight years, I really did think that I had seen every piece of Aquaman merchandise there was. But here comes newest F.O.A.M. member John Shirley to prove me wrong, with these photos of an Aquaman "metal figurine" hailing from Argentina!

No matter how you slice it (not that you could, because it's metal), this is one weird item. The drawing of Aquaman looks, uh, a little less than professional grade, and what's with the stock art on the card? A Jim Aparo drawing from the cover to World's Finest #250, featuring The Creeper, no less? Was there a Creeper figurine for this line? If so, this has got to be the only time the character has appeared on a piece of licensed merch, pre-DC Direct. Someone needs to start a Creeper Shrine blog and figure this out.

John also sent another piece of heretofore unknown piece of Aqua-Merch, but we'll get to that another day. In the meantime, let's all welcome him to F.O.A.M., he sure as Neptune earned it!

Lego Aquaman Set

sg
Check out this early peek at a new Lego DC Comics Super Heroes set, which comes out next year! While it's not branded as such, it's Aquaman centric, featuring (presumably, since this item is subject to change) two ships plus Lego figures of the Sea King, Black Manta, Aqua-Batman, a generic diver, and a shark! We are truly in another Golden Age, Aquaman fans!

Bootleg Lego Aqualad

sg
Courtesy F.O.A.M.er Eric Stettmeier is this pic of a bootleg Aqualad Lego mini figurine, made in Japan by the company known as ShengYuan. This nifty little guy is part of a whole set of Teen Titans mini-figs, go check them out over on Eric's blog Toyriffic. Thanks Eric!

Aquaman @ The Lego Store

sg
If you have a Lego store in your area--like long time F.O.A.M. member (and total sweetheart) Cindy Healy does--you can't help but notice a giant Lego Aquaman adorning its front window!

When Cindy first sent me this pic, I did a double take because I thought that was a Lego Mera! Of course, it's "merely" Poison Ivy, which is still pretty cool. I love that Aquaman--not the usual suspects--are getting such prominent placement! Thanks Cindy!

And in case you think it's just that store (the Christiana Mall in Delaware, BTW), here's a pic of Shrine Correspondent Russell Burbage posing in front of another Lego store, presumably in Russell's home turf of Ohio:

Outrageous!
