The votes are in, and here are the results of the 2011 Aquaman Shrine Header Art Content:
Out of 295 votes cast, Luke Daab's entry for April came in at #1 with 126 votes, representing 42% of all the votes cast. For a while it was neck-and-neck with John Trumbull, whose August header came in at #2 with 66 votes. Finishing third was November's header by Brent Almond, with 33 votes.
The Shrine has decided to expand the prize giveaways by offering Luke, John, and Brent both the Deepwater Disaster and Heroes on the High Seas books, congrats guys!
Our other eight contestants--all of whom delivered wonderful, unique pieces of art that adorned the Aquaman Shrine throughout 2011--will get a copy of either book of their choosing. So Daria, Zachary, Chad, Andrew, Michael, Elizabeth, Russell, and The Schafer Clan, please email the Shrine and let us know which book you'd like--you've all earned it!
The Shrine really loved seeing what everyone came up with, and I thought the diversity of style, approach, and feel made the Shrine look extra special in 2011. Thanks to everyone who participated!
A year (okay, eleven months) in the making, here are all our 2011 Aquaman Shrine headers, custom made by various Aqua-Fans!
On the right, we have a new poll where you can vote for your favorite of the headers (listed in the order they appeared, February-December--click the graphic to embiggen). The #1 vote-getter will receive a prize pack consisting of copies of Capstone's Aquaman: Deepwater Disaster and DC Super Pets: Heroes on the High Seas, in their hardcover editions:
The other ten entrants will receive a copy of either book of the creators' choice (just email the Shrine and let me know which one you'd like, o generous fans!). The Shrine considers all eleven entries winners so we think everyone deserves a reward for their hard work!
I really enjoyed getting seeing what everyone came up with, and was very proud Aqua-Fans would put so much effort into creating something for the Shrine. As you can see above, the approaches and styles are all very different, which gave the Shrine quite a different look all through 2011! Our thanks to you all!
Its been requested that I put up a post devoted to the new headers the Shrine has been running as part of the Aquaman Shrine Header Contest, in celebration of this, Aquaman's 70th year.
I was planning on doing one big post at the end of the year featuring all the entries, but if you Aqua-Fans want to heap praise on the artists kind enough to send something in already, who am I to say no?

...we still have the remaining months of 2011 open, so get to work, Aqua-Fans!
