This was the last of four "Top Trumps" game cards sent to me a while ago by my pal (and curator of the cool Flash blog Crimson Lightning) Dixon.
I guess this was a costume redesign for Orm (not sure if it was ever used in the comics or what), but I don't think it holds up to the original--Orm's old mask looked like it smashed his nose down, which, to me, made him seem really badass--a bad guy who designs himself a painful costume on purpose.
Dixon was one of the first bloggers to write me and let me know how much he enjoyed what I was doing, and we had an informal team-up thing going between our respective JLA member-specific blogs, which was a lot of fun. Sadly, though, he seems to have dropped off the face of the earth, blogger-wise. CL abruptly stopped being updated in 2007 and I haven't heard from him since.
Thanks Dixon, and if you're out there, drop us a line here at the Shrine!
Update: Great Neptune, this is spooky.
Just a few seconds after I posted this, I clicked over to Dixon's blog, just to double-check my link. And what do I see?
I see that Dixon has returned to posting at Crimson Lightning, completely unbeknownst to me--I swear! WOW!
Glad to have you back, pal!

(Black) Manta Week, Part 3: Top Trumps Card - 2007
The third of the way cool Top Trumps cards that were generously sent to me by F.O.A.M. member Brian Dixon (he of Crimson Lightning), this time of the evil Black Manta!
Like the Aquagirl and Aquaman cards, the art for this is uncredited. Unlike those though, this card is so simple its almost abstract--Manta looks creepy and emotionless as ever.

Aquaman Top Trumps Card - 2006
Another one of the way cool Top Trumps cards that were generously sent to me by F.O.A.M. member Brian Dixon (the mastermind behind Crimson Lightning), this time of the big man, Aquaman himself.
Like the Aquagirl card, the art for this is uncredited, which is too bad, since these are very nice paintings. Aquaman looks powerful and bad-ass here, tearing through the ocean at Mach 1 ready to hand Black Manta another humiliating defeat.

Aquagirl Top Trumps Card - 2006
Courtesy long-time-commenter, first-time F.O.A.M. member Brian Dixon (he of Crimson Lightning, the super-cool Flash site), comes this beauty of a game card, featuring an absolutely gorgeous(though uncredited!) painting of Lorena, aka the new Aquagirl. Its part of a series of DC Super Heroes cards for Top Trumps, a children's card game that's been popular in the UK since the early 1970s, Brian tells me.
Like all of the other card games out now, I have no idea what I'm supposed to do with these things, but I don't care--it's just a beautiful piece to look at. Jeez, this should've been a comic cover at some point(its images like this that make me think DC, if they were so set on bringing out a new Aquaman, could've scrapped the whole Sword of Atlantis thing and made Lorena the new Aqua"man").
Brian generously sent a long a few more cards featuring members of the AquaFamily, which we'll see in the future. But for now let's enjoy this--and thanks again, Brian!
