New Brew Friday- Double Dry Hopped Congress Street

Image
It's New Brew Friday and if your in NYC you know it's been absolutely brutal outside this week.  I honestly thought my face might melt right off yesterday walking home from work. These 90 degree days are just too much for this lady so tonight it's all about rocking the AC and cracking open a couple of these awesome IPA's from Trillium. Regular Congress Street has always been my favorite beer from Trillium.  It's made with Galaxy hops which are loaded with bright tropical flavors.  The double dry hopping of this beer just means its much bigger with a thick milky body and tons of juicy peach and mango aroma.  The flavor follows suit with more mango, peach and pine and a smooth creamy finish that reminds me of a creamsicle.  It's just perfect for this hazy hot weather we are having- cheers to the weekend! New Brew Friday- Grimm Afterimage

We're going local once again for today's New Brew Friday with another amazing beer. We've  talked about Other Half, Captain Lawrence, Third Rail and Finback...but what about Grimm.  These guys are absolutely crushing it on the beer scene right now and they just had their very first can release. Afterimage is a Double IPA brewed with Mosaic, El Dorado, Simcoe, Falconer's Flight and Columbus hops.  It pours a hazy dark orange with a small fluffy head that bursts with aromas of sweet melon, passionfruit and honey.  The flavor follows suit with more passionfruit, melon, peach, sweet nectarine and a touch of pine. This is a seriously juicy beer and an excellent first can for Grimm (check out that sweet label).  Cheers to the weekend! Grimm Artisanal Ales PO Box 150472 Brooklyn, NY 11215

New Brew Friday- Other Half Galaxy

It's New Brew Friday and I really can't think of anything better than a crisp refreshing IPA on this scorching hot day.  Luckily Other Half just released their newest batch of Galaxy cans so I'm all set to face the heat. This dark orange beer gives off aromas of pine and citrus with a super fresh grassy flavor with just a hint of malt at the end.  This is just one of many fantastic Other Half single hop offerings and they continue to crush the NYC beer scene with clean styles like this.  Cheers to local beer and happy birthday to Mr. T!
