Layers Book

The project I am working on with Vervey is called 'Layers'. Most of my work has some sort of layers anyway, but I was finding it difficult to get off the ground. A friend had given me a little sketch book [above] so I thought I would start filling it with ideas to get me started. I ended up filling the whole book of 60 pages [7.5x10cm about ATC size] and it is now a small fat book. I filled the book in 2008 but the project is still ongoing and our first exhibition of the finished art work is in March.

the word layers is cut out

layers of torn papers [dyed, painted wallpaper, coloured & textured paper & print out of own design]

torn papers, machine stitching [own painted & textured papers & one painted wallpaper]

Cold & Wet

There has been more snow here the last couple of days but we decided to go to the coast to blow the cobwebs away but it was freezing, rainy, snowy, sleet and very windy - the snow was blowing in horizontal sheets rather than coming down from the sky vertically. I got my camera wet just with opening the car window so I didn't try taking any pictures outside. The photos don't show the snow and they look very grey - it was very grey. We did venture onto the beach for a minute but I'm a whimp - it was far to cold, wet & windy.

This one was taken through the closed window, I thought it made an interesting pattern effect, maybe to be used in something creative one day.

Weebles Christmas Party

These cards were inspired by a set of 22 bronze figures at Little Haven, South Shields [North of England], sculptured by Juan Munoz. It is called the Conversation Piece but they are known locally as the weebles.

This is how 4 of them they really look

Knitted santa & snowman, snowman in snow

Knitted snowman & santa - these were made when the kids were small so probably about 20+ years old

I wanted a photo of a snowman [for artistic purposes, you understand] so I went out to build one [by myself, I'm still a kid at heart], but the snow was so crumbly it wouldn't hold together, so I just drew one in the snow instead with a trowel

Statue of Liberty - Christmas

A card design I did a couple of years ago. The background of taxis was an applique, the statue is a photo and the rest was drawn.
