Russo-Ukraine War - 04 September 2024 - Day 924

A number of claims and counterclaims are being made on the Ukraine-Russia conflict on the ground and online. While GlobalSecurity.org takes utmost care to accurately report this news story, we cannot independently verify the authenticity of all statements, photos and videos.

On 24 February 2022, Ukraine was suddenly and deliberately attacked by land, naval and air forces of Russia, igniting the largest European war since the Great Patriotic War. Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a "special military operation" (SVO - spetsialnaya voennaya operatsiya) in Ukraine in response to the appeal of the leaders of the "Donbass republics" for help. That attack is a blatant violation of the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine. Putin stressed that Moscow's goal is the demilitarization and denazification of the country. The military buildup in preceeding months makes it obvious that the unprovoked and dastardly Russian attack was deliberately planned long in advance. During the intervening time, the Russian government had deliberately sought to deceive the world by false statements and expressions of hope for continued peace.

"To initiate a war of aggression... is not only an international crime; it is the supreme international crime differing only from other war crimes in that it contains within itself the accumulated evil of the whole." [Judgment of the International Military Tribunal]

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that so far, there have been 164 combat clashes. The hottest today remained the situation in the Pokrovsky and Kurakhivsky directions, also Russia is active in Kupiansky, Lyman and Toretsky directions.

For today, Russia has launched on the territory of Ukraine one missile strike with the use of 13 missiles, 57 aviation strikes (taken, including 71 KAB), used to impress 334 kamikaze drones. Made more than 2,500 shelling positions of Ukrainian troops and settlements.

In the Kharkiv direction, Russian forces once attacked nearby vovchans Наka. The battle clash is underway.

According to the preliminary estimates, the number of the Russian aggressor's loss for today is 57 military killed and wounded, also Ukrainian soldiers destroyed two vehicles units and two vehicles destroyed two vehicles, in addition, four artillery systems and two vehicles damaged.

In the Siversky direction, Russian forces twice during the day unsuccessfully tried to break through Ukrainian defense in the areas of Verkhnyokamiansky and Ivano-Daryivka.
In the direction of kramators Краkomu, the activity of the Russian enemy poured into four combat clashes. Two attacks near the Chasovogo Yar and Kalinívka Zahlinulis ли. Two clashes are underway. The Russian goalkeepers will suffer the loss.
In the Toretsky direction, Ukrainian troops repelled 12 Russian attacks near Nelipivka, Toretsky and New York. Eight attacks have been repelled, ongoing fights in four locations. The situation is under control.
Russian forces tried to infiltrate Ukrainian defense 49 times in the Intercession direction. Since the beginning of the day, the Russian occupiers in the settlements of Vozdvizhenko, Green Field, Novogrodivka, Hrodivka, Selidovoye, Mykolaivka and Mirolubivka received a harsh cut off from Ukrainian defenders 47 times. Two attacks are underway.
Russia suffers significant losses - according to preliminary information, today Ukrainian warriors damaged more than 200 invaders in this direction, 98 of them - irrevocably. Destroyed four, damaged as many cars of the Russian occupiers and one artillery system.
In the kurakhívs рахkomu direction Russian forces 46 times attacked Ukrainian positions. The greatest activity was shown in the area of Georgiyivka, Konstantinivka and Krasnogorivka, where Ukrainian warriors repelled 42 attacks, four clashes are ongoing.
In the vremívs напряkomu direction, Ukrainian troops repelled three Russian attacks, near konstantinívka and vodânogo - two attacks stopped, another one is ongoing.
Twice the Russian occupiers unsuccessfully stormed Ukrainian positions in the oríhivs вkomu direction near robotiny and in the direction of novoandrívka.
In the pridniprovsky direction, Russia does not leave trying to knock out Ukrainian units from occupied positions. Five failed attempts to storm the positions of Ukrainian soldiers were carried out by the aggressor during the day.

The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that on 3 September 2024, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation delivered a precise strike at the AFU 179th Joint Training Centre in Poltava, where under supervision of foreign instructors signal and electronic warfare specialists from all formations and military units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces were trained as well as UAV operators, which deliver strikes at civilian objects on the territory of the Russian Federation.

Today in the morning, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation delivered a group strike by long-range precision weaponry including Kinzhal hypersonic air-launched ballistic missiles and attack UAVs to hit Ukrainian defence industry facilities based in Lvov, which manufactured and repaired electronic components of AFU aircraft and missile weaponry.
The goal of the strike was achieved. All the assigned targets were engaged.

In Volchansk and Liptsy directions, units of the Sever Group of Forces inflicted losses on formations of the 23rd, 25th mechanised brigades, 82nd Air Assault Brigade of the AFU, and the 3rd National Guard Brigade near Zolochev, Goptovka, Aleksandrovka, and Velikiye Prokhody (Kharkov region).
The AFU losses amounted to up to 75 troops, one armoured personnel carrier, two motor vehicles, and one 122-mm D-30 howitzer. One ammunition depot was destroyed.

Units of the Zapad Group of Forces improved the tactical situation and inflicted losses on manpower and hardware of the 44th, 66th mechanised brigades, 63rd Motorised Infantry Brigade of the AFU, and the 1st National Guard Brigade near Petropavlovka, Kolesnikovka (Kharkov region), Makeyevka and Chervonaya Dibrova (Lugansk People's Republic). One counter-attack launched by formations of the AFU 3rd Assault Brigade was repelled.

The AFU losses amounted to up to 480 troops, one infantry fighting vehicle, three motor vehicles, one U.S.-made 155-mm M198 howitzer, one 152-mm Msta-B howitzer, one 122-mm D-30 howitzer, two UK-made 105-mm L-119 howitzers, one U.S.-made 105-mm M101 howitzer, and one U.S.-made AN/TPQ-50 counter-battery radar. Five AFU field ammunition depots were destroyed.

Units of the Yug Group of Forces improved the tactical situation along the front lines and inflicted losses on manpower and hardware of the 23rd, 24th, 30th mechanised brigades, 46th Airmobile Brigade, 143rd Infantry Brigade of the AFU, and 101st Territorial Defence Brigade near Zaliznyanskoye, Georgiyevka, Chasov Yar, and Konstantinovka (Donetsk People's Republic). Two counter-attacks launched by assault detachments of the 116th Territorial Defence Brigade were repelled.

The AFU losses amounted to up to 670 troops, three motor vehicles, two U.S.-made 155-mm M777 howitzers, two 152-mm D-20 guns, one 122-mm D-30 howitzer, and one U.S.-made AN/TPQ-37 counter-battery radar. One ammunition depot was destroyed.

As a result of active actions, units of the Tsentr Group of Forces fully liberated Karlovka (Donetsk People's Republic).

Losses were inflicted on manpower and hardware of the AFU 32nd, 100th mechanised brigades, 119th Territorial Defence Brigade, and 15th National Guard Brigade near Shcherbinovka, Dzerzhinsk, Ukrainsk, Dimitrov, and Selidovo (Donetsk People's Republic). Seven counter-attacks launched by assault detachments of the 53rd Mechanised Brigade, 71st Jaeger Brigade, 25th Airborne Brigade of the AFU, 37th Marine Brigade, 14th National Guard Brigade, and the Lyut Assault Brigade of the National Police of Ukraine were repelled.

The AFU losses amounted to more than 480 troops, one U.S.-made MaxxPro armoured fighting vehicle, two motor vehicles, one 152-mm Msta-B howitzer, one 122-mm Gvozdika self-propelled artillery system, and one 100-mm Rapira anti-tank gun.

As a result of active actions, units of the Vostok Group of Forces liberated Prechistovka (Donetsk People's Republic).
Losses were inflicted on formations of the 58th Motorised Infantry Brigade of the AFU and 117th Territorial Defence Brigade near Shakhtyorskoye, Dobrovolye (Donetsk People's Republic), and Priyutnoye (Zaporozhye region). One counter-attack launched by an assault detachment of the AFU 72nd Mechanised Brigade was repelled.
The AFU losses amounted to up to 150 troops and five motor vehicles.

Units of the Dnepr Group of Forces inflicted losses on formations of the 37th Marine Brigade and 39th Coastal Defence Brigade near Berislav, Tokarevka, Verovka (Kherson region), and Tamarino (Nikolayev region).
The AFU losses amounted to up to 80 troops and three motor vehicles. Two ammunition depots and one electronic warfare station were destroyed.

Operational-Tactical Aviation, unmanned aerial vehicles, Missile Troops and Artillery of the Russian Groups of Forces engaged AFU manpower and hardware clusters in 129 areas during the day.
Over the past 24 hours, air defence units have shot down 11 U.S.-made HIMARS MLRS projectiles and 30 unmanned aerial vehicles.

In total, 642 airplanes and 283 helicopters, 31,017 unmanned aerial vehicles, 575 air defence missile systems, 17,814 tanks and other armoured fighting vehicles, 1,435 combat vehicles equipped with MLRS, 14,039 field artillery guns and mortars, as well as 25,556 units of support motor vehicles have been destroyed during the special military operation.
