A number of claims and counterclaims are being made on the Ukraine-Russia conflict on the ground and online. While GlobalSecurity.org takes utmost care to accurately report this news story, we cannot independently verify the authenticity of all statements, photos and videos.

On 24 February 2022, Ukraine was suddenly and deliberately attacked by land, naval and air forces of Russia, igniting the largest European war since the Great Patriotic War. Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a "special military operation" (SVO - spetsialnaya voennaya operatsiya) in Ukraine in response to the appeal of the leaders of the "Donbass republics" for help. That attack is a blatant violation of the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine. Putin stressed that Moscow's goal is the demilitarization and denazification of the country. The military buildup in preceeding months makes it obvious that the unprovoked and dastardly Russian attack was deliberately planned long in advance. During the intervening time, the Russian government had deliberately sought to deceive the world by false statements and expressions of hope for continued peace.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that in total, 175 combat clashes have taken place since the beginning of this day. Ukrainian defenders continue to decisively interrupt the Russian attempts to advance into the depths of Ukrainian territory, giving him a fiery impression.
The hottest situation remains in the Pokrovsky direction, also the enemy is active in Kurakhiv and Vremivsky directions.

Russian zagarbniki launched two strikes on the territory of Ukraine, using 30 missiles, and 56 air strikes, dropping 61 cab. In addition, 498 kamikaze drones were recruited and carried out more than 2800 shelling at the positions of Ukrainian troops and settlements.

In the Kharkiv direction there were four battles. Defense forces repelled the Russian attack near Vovchansk. One Russian attack is still going on.
In the Kupiansky direction, Russian forces carried out offensive actions near synkivka, petropavlivka, glushkivka, kolisnikivka, stelmahivka and berestovoye. Fifteen fights completed, four are still ongoing.
In the Lyman direction, Russian invaders stormed the positions of Defense Forces near Grekivka, Druzhelyubivka, Makiyivka, Nevsky, Cherneshchyna and Novosadovoye. Ukrainian defenders stopped eight attacks, ten - continue.
In the Sívers роkomu direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled seven Russian offensive actions in the areas of Verkhnyokamians нихkogo, Viymki, Ivano-Dar'ievka and Spirnogo. At this time, two combat clashes are ongoing.
Eight battles were sharpened in the Kramators вкиkomu direction, in particular, near Kli щіyivka, Kalinívka, Time Yaru, Stupočok and White Mountain. Defense forces stopped all Russian attacks of the zagarbnikív.
17 boêzítknen нен took place in the Torets Наkomu direction. Russians stormed the positions of Ukrainian units near Toretsk, Sherbinivka, Romanivka and Nelipivka. There are currently four attacks of Russians.
In the Pokrovsky direction, since the beginning of this day, 55 battles have been sharpened in the areas of the settlements of Vozdvizhenko, Green Field, Mirolubivka, Novogrodivka, Cool Yar, Hrodivka, Mykhailivka and Selidove. Ukrainian defenders have repelled 48 offensive actions, seven are still continuing.
Today, 414 Russian invaders were defecated in this direction, 197 of them - irrevocably. Also destroyed a tank, two armored transporters, one mortar, two BPLAs, three vehicles units, one motorcycle and another important object of the Russian enemy. To the same, one BTR and three cars were damaged.
In the kurakhiv direction, the enemy 25 times attacked near Ukrainian, georgíivka and konstantinívka. Nineteen clashes completed, six still going.
In the Vremívs ,komu direction, Russian forces made 20 attempts to push Ukrainian units out of the occupied borders of defense near Vodyany, Vugledara, Konstantinivka and Prechistivka. There are now two Russian attacks.
In the Pridniprovsk direction, Russian zagarbniki suffered defeats, twice attacking the positions of the Defense Forces.
In other directions - without much change.

The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that the previous night, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation delivered a group strike by long-range high-precision weaponry and attack unmanned aerial vehicles at Ukrainian defence industry enterprises producing and repairing aircraft and missiles, storages and workshops of UAVs, and temporary deployment areas of nationalists and foreign mercenaries.

All assigned targets were engaged.

The Sever Group of Forces in Volchansk and Liptsy directions hit formations of 71st Jaeger Brigade, 3rd Assault Brigade of the AFU, and 36th Marine Brigade near Kharkov and Volchansk (Kharkov region).

The AFU lost up to 85 troops, three motor vehicles, a 152-mm D-20 gun, and two 122-mm D-30 howitzers.

The Zapad Group of Forces improved tactical situation, engaged manpower and military hardware of 14th, 43rd, 44th, 63rd, 115th, 116th mechanised brigades of the AFU, 117th Territorial Defence Brigade, and 12th Azov Brigade near Kupyansk, Petropavlovka, Glushkovka, Losovaya (Kharkov region), Torskoye (Donetsk People's Republic), and Serebryansky Forestry.

The AFU losses amounted to up to 430 troops, two Kozak armoured fighting vehicles, six motor vehicles, a U.S.-made 155-mm M198 howitzer, a 122-mm Gvozdika self-propelled system, two 122-mm D-30 howitzers, and two UK-made 105-mm L-119 howitzers.

For the last 24 hours, the Russian Armed Forces neutralised seven field ammunition depots, three EW stations, and a counter-battery radar.

The Yug Group of Forces continues to advance into the hostile defence, engaged 24th, 28th, 54th, and 117th mechanised brigades, 56th Motorised Infantry Brigade, 46 Airmobile Brigade, 5th and 80th assault brigades of the AFU, 114th and 116th territorial defence brigades near Verhnekamenskoye, Chasov Yar, Stupochki, Predtechino, and Maksimilyanovka (Donetsk People's Republic) The Russian units repelled a counter-attack of the AFU 144th Infantry Brigade.

The enemy losses are up to 520 troops, four motor vehicles, two UK-made 155-mm FH-70 howitzers, a 152-mm Msta-B howitzer, two 152-mm D-20 guns, and two 122-mm D-30 howitzers.

The enemy lost five field ammunition depots and an Anklav EW station.

The Tsentr Group of Forces liberated Skuchnoye of the Donetsk People's Republic.

The Russian units engaged 31st, 32nd, 53rd, 151st mechanised brigades, 142nd Infantry Brigade, 95th Air Assault Brigade of the AFU, and 15th National Guard Brigade near Dzerzhinsk, Nelepovka, Selidovo, Grodovka, Zhuravka, Zavetnoye, and Memrik (Donetsk People's Republic). The Russian Armed Forces repelled nine counter-attacks of 100th Mechanised Brigade, 59th Motorised Infantry Brigade of the AFU, 12th and 14th national guard brigades, and Lyut Brigade the National Police of Ukraine.

The enemy losses amounted to up to 475 troops, a Kozak armoured fighting vehicle, three pickups, a 152-mm Msta-B and a 122-mm D-30 howitzers.

The Vostok Group of Forces seized more favourable lines and positions, engaged 58th Motorised Infantry Brigade of the AFU, 129th and 241st territorial defence brigades near Vodyanoye, Ugledar, Prechistovka, and Velikaya Novosyolka (Donetsk People's Republic). Two counter-attacks of the AFU 72nd Mechanised Brigade's assault groups were repelled.

The enemy losses amounted to up to 110 troops, a U.S.-made M113 APC, and a 100-mm Rapira anti-tank gun.

The Dnepr Group of Forces destroyed hostile clusters of manpower and materiel of the 128th Mountain Assault Brigade of the AFU, 37th Marine Brigade, 123rd and 126th territorial defence brigades near Novodanilovka, Lobkovoye (Zaporozhye region), Tokarevka, Berislav (Kherson region), and Kherson.

The enemy lost up to 70 troops, three motor vehicles, and an EW station.

Operational-Tactical Aviation, unmanned aerial vehicles, Missile Troops and Artillery of the Russian Groups of Forces engaged AFU clusters of manpower and hardware in 143 areas during the day.

Russia's air defence systems downed three French-made Hammer guided aerial bombs, 26 Czech-made Vampire rockets, and 30 unmanned aerial vehicles.

In total, since the beginning of the special military operation, 641 aircraft, 283 helicopters, 30,950 unmanned aerial vehicles, 575 anti-aircraft missile systems, 17,805tanks and other armoured fighting vehicles, 1,434 MLRS combat vehicles, 13,952 field artillery guns and mortars, and 25,520 units of support military vehicles were neutralised.

The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation also reported that in the past 24 hours, the Sever Group of Forces supported by Army Aviation and artillery has repelled six attacks launched by the enemy's assault detachments in the direction of Borki, Komarovka, Korenevo, and Cherkasskoye Porechnoye.

Moreover, three attempts of the enemy to launch attacks in the direction of Olgovka and Kremyanoye were thwarted. As a result, the AFU losses amounted to up to 40 troops killed and wounded, one infantry fighting vehicle, two armoured fighting vehicles, and one motor vehicle.

Russian troops are conducting reconnaissance and search operations in wooded areas to eliminate sabotage groups of the enemy.

Aviation and artillery strikes and actions of troops inflicted losses on clusters of manpower and materiel of 22nd and 61st mechanised brigades, 82nd and 95th air assault brigades, 152nd Jaeger Brigade, 1st National Guard Brigade, and 1004th Security and Service Brigade near Apanasovka, Borki, Vishnyovka, Gordeyevka, Lyubimovka, Lebedevka, Martynovka, Mikhailovka, Malaya Loknya, Desyaty Oktyabr, Orlovka, Plekhovo, Cherkasskoye Porechnoye, Russkoye Porechnoye, Snagost, and Yuzhny.

Operational-Tactical Aviation delivered strikes at concentration areas in Sumy region of reserve manpower and military hardware of 22nd, 41st, and 54th mechanised brigades, 17th Tank Brigade, 82nd Air Assault Brigade of the AFU, 1st National Guard Brigade, 36th Marine Brigade, 101st, 103rd, 119th, and 129th territorial defence brigades near Belopolye, Basy, Velikaya Pisarevka, Glukhov, Luka, Katerinovka, Orlovka, Svessa, Chervonoprapornoye, Sumy, Khoten, Esman, Yunakovka, and Yasterbinoye.

In the past 24 hours, the AFU losses have amounted to over 350 troops and 14 units of hardware, including one infantry fighting vehicle, one armoured personnel carrier, 12 armoured fighting vehicles, three artillery guns, three U.S.-made HIMARS MLRS launchers, one mortar, two Buk-M1 SAM launchers, one Buk-M1 SAM command vehicle, one HIMARS MLRS transport-loading vehicle, one Buk-M1 transporting vehicle, one U.S.-made AN/TPQ-50 counter-battery radar, and 12 motor vehicles.

Since the beginning of hostilities in Kursk region, the AFU losses amounted to more than 8,900 troops, 80 tanks, 38 infantry fighting vehicles, 70 armoured personnel carriers, 549 armoured fighting vehicles, 261 motor vehicles, 65 artillery guns, 19 multiple-launch rocket system launchers, including six of HIMARS system and two of MLRS system, seven SAM launchers, two transport-loading vehicles, 14 electronic warfare stations, seven counter-battery radars, one air defence radar, six engineering vehicles, including two counterobstacle vehicles and one UR-77 mine clearing vehicle.

The operation to neutralise the AFU units is in progress.
