I swear, if these things get ANY bigger....

Last night Mr. Murphy got home from work at 10:15.
He walked in to the bedroom and I pretended to be asleep, but I am really bad at that game so after 5 seconds I just started laughing.
He did a flying jump from across the room and landed on the bed and I screamed, "DOUGHNUTS" at the top of my lungs.
I haven't really been one of those pregnant ladies that has a lot of cravings but last night all I could think of were doughnuts.
Glazed Doughnuts...
Powdered Doughnuts...
Chocolate Frosted Doughnuts...

He is so wonderful about complying with my pregnant needs.  So we watched an episode of Friends, put on our clothes, and ventured off to the grocery.

We were walking around the fruits and veggies and I passed by the honey dew melons.  Do you want the truth? This is how my body feels right now...

A lot of pregnant women look forward to the perk of slightly bigger tots when they are preggs.
NOT
ME.
I repeat, NOT ME! Things are getting a little out of control over in these parts. And my biggest fear...its only going to get more ridiculous...

We made our purchase of:
strawberries
french twists
martinelli's apple juice
martinelli's passion prickly juice
and
POWDERED DOUGHNUTS...my pregnant heart was singing

We came home and watched more Friends and I made a simple delicious dessert that everyone should try.  It needs a name, but I don't have one for it.

1 package of French Twists
1 carton of fresh strawberries

-slice up french twists
-top with slices of fresh strawberries

Has anyone else noticed the incredible list of women with child in the blogosphere?  Its a pretty impressive list.  Here are a few of my favorites:

Here's to bigger tots ladies! Happy child growing!

...and just like that, a year went by.

Last night Mr. Murphy and I celebrated our one year anni with some beautiful music (and maybe a little slow dancing during one special song).

Last night we went to the James Taylor concert at Chastain Park.
I can't believe he is 63 and still rockin' it.
He is a faithful member of our record collection.

John surprised me with the tickets a few months back.
We went bearing a picnic basket full of yummy treats and sparkling refreshment.  Nothing says sexy anniversary dinner like roasted pine nut hummus, tuscan flatbread, Publix Bakery cupcakes and cannolis(i don't really know how to pluralize that), chocolate covered strawberries, and Welch's sparkling grape juice from an Anthropologie tumbler.

A tear rolled down my cheek when James played, "You Can Close Your Eyes".
Mr. Murphy and I have many songs and that is one of them.

Operation France and Breakfast for Dinner

Last night we had FHE, like most Monday nights.  It was great.  We finally figured some things out.  John and I have been seriously thinking about doing a study abroad to France for a while now.  We have been praying and pondering if it is the right decision for us for this coming summer.

We sang the perfect hymn for the night, "I'll Go Where You Want Me To Go, Dear Lord"

We had breakfast for dinner.  That is always one of our favorites,  John says, "I could literally eat breakfast anytime of the day."  We had:

Pancakes:  We mixed it up a bit with fresh chips of strawberry, 3/4 cup of sour cream, and a dash of vanilla in the mix.  Then we garnished with fresh strawberry slices on top.

Bacon:  Cooked almost til done in pan then we put it on a plate in the oven at 175 for about 5-7 minutes to give it more of a crunch.  Really that is the best way to eat bacon.

Hashbrowns:  John cooked these in the leftover bacon grease!  YUM!  Then of course he added jalapeƱos and salt and pepper.  They were better than Waffle House.

We already have our fall decorations out, most of these came from my girl's weekend with my family.  I love the holidays so much.  I feel like everyone is so excited with the anticipation of fall just right around the corner.  It is trying so hard to be here.  Just a few more days I hope.  "Come on Fall, you can do it!!"

In honor of our night I went to the European Market here in Roswell and got us some European chocolate.  It was divine!

For our activity we had planned on doing research for French programs and scholarship opportunities but that kind of didn't pan out.  So, instead I did a project that I have been obsessing over for about a week.

Thank you to (THIS LADY) for the inspiring idea.  You can see better directions on her blog.

I made a really cool earring holder.  This is so much better than throwing them all in one bag and having to search for the match!

My husband surprised me two nights ago with an early birthday present.  Seriously, we both can't wait for anything.  He was too excited and I was too curious so I let him give it to me.

He gave me a beautiful pair of 1.4 carat Citrine Studs.  I LOVE them!  He said he thought they looked a lot like my beloved favorite color...mustard.  Now I have a beautiful new place for them to go.  Good job honey...good perfect job.

Bread, Jam, and Silence

...And I'm back!!  In the kitchen, I mean.  Other than last night and today, it has felt like forever since I have had some gen-u-wine time with my kitchen.  Tonight I got the fever.  I had been wanting to try and make my own bread and jam.  What is it about making something from scratch that really really really just makes things taste so delicious?  I read a review tonight on the bread recipe that I made and a fellow lady breadmaker said, "This bread makes store-bought bread taste sickening."After making this bread, I get that, I really get that.

I was in the kitchen for four hours.  YES, 4 hours.  John was sitting at our dining room table working on his paper for Business Communications and we were both in total silence.  It was blissful.  No music.  No talking.  Just me, my thoughts, and silence.

I thought about a thousand things.  Here are a few things that ran across my mind:

my mother
my father
my sister
my piano test on thursday
applying for grad schools
what I am going to make for dinner for our friends for our jam sesh tomorrow night, and hoping so much that they enjoy it
traveling abroad
living abroad
my friend lisa on her mission and how much i miss her
how to better serve others
how i can be a better wife
how happy i was to see my friend jenna yesterday
how i want to loose weight, but how i'm not really doing anything about considering what i am about to make
my wonderful calling at church as a den mother for the cub scouts
my sweet voice teacher
how much i don't like our kitchen wallpaper
how i really really need to take our recycling to the roswell recycle center
how incredibly sticky the bread dough is, and how i look like i have on bread dough mittens
how handsome john is when he is doing something intently and he has no idea that i am staring at him.

Here is the recipe for the strawberry jam:

Directions: Combine the sugar, lemon zest, and lemon juice in a small saucepan and cook over very low heat for 10 minutes, until the sugar is dissolved. Add the strawberries and continue to cook over very low heat for 20 minutes, until the strawberries release some of their juices and the mixture boils slowly. Cook until a small amount of the juice gels on a very cold plate. (I keep one in the freezer.) Pour carefully into 2 pint canning jars and either seal or keep refrigerated. Use immediately, or follow proper canning guidelines.

I only had one jar to put the jam in, so we improvised and used an old soda bottle that we drank at our wedding.  We still had the twist top so it still sealed up.

I felt like the jam paparazzi taking all of these pictures, but I couldn't help it, it turned out so cute!

Now, let's see if the Mister liked it...

Seal of Approval.  I know I have done well if I see this face.  I live to see this face.  Right after this picture was taken, he looked at me longingly and pulled me in for a nice long kiss.  I'll take that as a reward for making something yummy.  He then professes to me his deep LOVE for homemade bread.  Good thing this recipe makes 6 loaves (I froze 4 balls of dough).  We are planning on making french toast out of what ever we have left over!!

On the other hand, contrary to what this face (below) may be telling you, I really did believe this was delectable.

Don't forget, the pinky is what completes the scene.

Whew!  This felt like another plog...that was quite a bit of work.  Sleepy time.
