Halloween Card with Cat

Hello! First, let me say... I love making Halloween cards! There have been some wonderful new Halloween products released the last couple of weeks. That inspired me to use a new stamp set I bought last year, but never used. It's called Trick or Treat Kittens by Newton's Nook.  The image was colored with Copic markers and then die cut with the coordinating die. The layout for this Halloween Card with Cat is from the Inky Paws sketch challenge. Some patterned papers from the Bootiful Nights paper pad by American Crafts (2016) were used and a piece of white glitter tape was adhered. Everything was adhered flat for easy shipping and that's it! So glad you stopped by and enjoy the rest of your day!🎃

Seashell Thinking of You Card

A happy hello! It's still busy at my house, so not much crafting going on. I've been doing research on dishwashers. Ours went out and we need to buy a new one, but I'm not sure what brand is best. The old one lasted 18 years and was a Kenmore, but they don't make them anymore. However, I did take some time this morning to make this Seashell Thinking of You Card. It features the Newton's Seashell image and the layout is from the current Inky Paws sketch challenge. Copic markers were used to color the image and then it was die cut with the coordinating die. The papers are from a Bo Bunny paper pad called Escape To Paradise (2018). Some twine was added and everything was adhered flat. That's it, pretty simple. So glad you stopped by and enjoy your day!

Simple Things Card - TMS #567

Can it really be Tuesday again? I hope you're doing well and ready to get creative with our new sketch challenge at Tuesday Morning Sketches. This weeks sketch was designed by me and I would love for you to play along. The design team did a fantastic job and you can find their inspiration and all the challenge details HERE. You have until Sunday at 8 pm EST to link your creation. I hope to see your work in the gallery!

When I started my card I knew I wanted to use the Time to Enjoy sentiment stamp by Hero Arts for the focal area. All I had to do was pick some pretty papers and assemble this Simple Things Card. The floral paper is from the Bloom Street paper pad by Pink Paislee and the Tiny Check is by My Favorite Things. For the three dots I punched tiny purple butterflies and adhered them to 1/2" white circles. That's it, a simple and easy card. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day.

Balloon Kitty Birthday Card

Good day crafty friends! This past month I've been participating in the 30 Day Coloring Challenge, so now I have several images completed and waiting to be used on a card. Today I colored this Balloon Kitty image from the new Party Pals stamp set by Reverse Confetti. Copic markers were used to color the image and then it was die cut with the coordinating die. When coloring the image I used colors to coordinate with papers from the It's a Celebration paper pad by Carta Bella (2014). I'm trying to use my older patterned papers. It's very clear that I have a serious paper addiction. 😊 The layout is from the sketch at Try Stampin' On Tuesday. Everything was adhered flat for easy shipping. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Toucan So Tweet Card

Hello! The summer heat is on and the COVID-19 cases continue to spike here in Oklahoma. Both of these make for good reasons to stay home and craft! I caught a stomach bug last week and haven't done much crafting because I was afraid to touch and contaminate my supplies. Thankfully I'm feeling better!

This Toucan So Tweet Card was made using the sketch from the Inky Paws challenge. The stamps are from the Toucan Party stamp set by Newton's Nook and were die cut with the coordinating dies. I colored the images with Copic markers and used a mix of patterned papers from various paper pads. Everything was adhered flat for easy shipping and that's it. Thanks for stopping by!

On My Mind Card with Butterflies

Good day! It's been super windy today, so I didn't run errands like usual on my day off. Instead I made this On My Mind Card with Butterflies. The layout is from the sketch at Try Stampin' On Tuesday challenge. I really wanted to use green but didn't need another St. Patrick's Day Card. So, I found this pretty butterfly paper and thought it worked well with the Butterfly Gala stamp set by Stampin' Up!. To color the butterflies I used Stampin' Blends markers in Mint Macaroon and Shaded Spruce. A little black lace was added and that's it. Enjoy the rest of your day and thanks for stopping by.

Cuppa Cactus Card

Happy Sunday! After working seven Sundays in a row, I finally had today off. It was nice to relax and get a few errands accomplished. While out shopping I bought a fun paper pad called Well, Hello by My Mind's Eye. It's full of bright colors and trendy images. The cactus paper worked perfectly with the Cuppa Cactus stamp set by Newton's Nook. The layout for this Cuppa Cactus Card comes from the sketch at the Krafty Chicks Challenge. The cactus image was colored with Copic markers and then die cut with the coordinating dies. White embossing powder was used on the sentiment with a blue cardstock. That's it, simple and easy! Thanks for stopping by.

Newton's Donut Card

Hello! Today was spent doing laundry and running errands. Trying to play catch-up after working yesterday. However, I did manage to make this Newton's Donut Card using the sketch from the current Inky Paws challenge. This is the first time I've used the Newton's Donut image and coordinating die by Newton's Nook. The patterned papers are from the Cream & Sugar paper pad by Doodlebug Design Inc. with the exception of the yellow polka dots by Stampin' Up!. Copic markers were used to color the image and it was adhered with stampin' dimensionals. Three heart sequins and twine finish the card. That's it. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day.

Stole My Heart Card

My crafty mojo is on the fritz, so I've had a hard time getting motivated to make anything. It seems this happens a couple of times a year. It probably didn't help that I got sick over Christmas and it's taken a couple of weeks to feel better.

This afternoon I was determined to make a card for a couple of challenges that are almost over. To help me get started I found a sketch at Hand Stamped Sentiments Challenge and I used the colors from the Inky Paws challenge to use Red, Sky Blue, Black and White. Then I decided to use a new to me stamp set called Sweetheart Tails by Newton's Nook and use the raccoon image. The image was colored with Copic markers and then fussy cut. All the papers are very retired from the Stacked with Love paper stack by Stampin' Up!. Three clear sequins add the final touch and that's it. So glad you stopped by and enjoy the rest of your day.

Cardinal Joy Card

When Newton's Nook unveiled their November release I knew I had to have the Winter Birds and Poinsettia Blooms stamp sets! So when Black Friday arrived I didn't hesitate to place my order. Then last Friday Ellen Haxelmans posted four stunning cards using the Winter Birds stamp set and I was inspired again by her designs. Tonight I made an inky background and used my new stamp sets to make this Cardinal Joy Card. The layout is from the Inky Paws Sketch #86 Challenge and patterned papers are from the Merry Merry 6 x 6 paper pad by Pebbles (2016). The sentiment was heat embossed and everything was adhered flat for easy shipping. That's it! Enjoy the rest of your day and thanks for stopping by.

Grateful Heart Card - TMS #480

Good day and happy Tuesday! A new sketch challenge starts today at Tuesday Morning Sketches and it's perfect to use with your patterned paper scraps. The Doodlebug Designs plaid paper on my card was actually cut for last weeks sketch card but then I changed my mind. Since it was still on my craft desk I decided it was perfect for this weeks challenge. The paper strips were cut at 1.25" x 5.25" each and matted to a piece of Pumpkin Pie cardstock by Stampin' Up!. The Grateful Heart sentiment was stamped with Memento Rich Cocoa ink and matted to a piece of Tempting Turquoise cardstock. When it came to the bow detail, I decided to use some stamped and die cut leaves to go with the flower. That's it! We would love for you to join us this week. Giraffe Baby Card

Good day! When I first started making cards I just made whatever came to my mind or I found a challenge for inspiration. Now that my stash has grown I'm more purposeful in my card making. A couple of weeks ago a baby boy giraffe was born at the Tulsa Zoo and I made this Giraffe Baby Card to send to the zoo staff. We went and visited the new baby last weekend and although we didn't get a great view of him, it was clear he is a cutie. While we were at the Giraffe exhibit we got to feed an adult male a few pieces of romaine lettuce, their tongues are amazing. It was a lot of fun!

To create this card the sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch was used for the layout. The giraffe stamp is by Inkadinkado and colored with Copic markers. All patterned papers are from the Snips & Snails paper pad by Doodlebug Designs. The Cutest Baby Ever sentiment is from the retired Label Love stamp set by Stampin' Up!. A stitched rectangle die cut out the image and a deckle die by Tim Holtz/Sizzix cut the bottom blue layer. That's it! Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day.

Sending Smiles Card

This past week flew by! Unfortunately I had migraines three days in a row and they zapped all creative energy. I'm feeling better today, so I made this Sending Smiles Card just in time to enter the Inky Paws sketch challenge. I'll be sending this card to Wild Heart Ranch a rescue and rehabilitation group in NE Oklahoma. They have been very busy with over 500 baby animals in their care. They take in all kinds of wild animals: deer, owls, rabbits, possums, raccoons, eagles, beavers, foxes, bobcats, squirrels, etc. I really enjoy following their stories and have great admiration for their cause.

The owl on this Sending Smiles Card is from the Sending Hugs stamp set by Newton's Nook. It was colored with Copic markers and then die cut with the coordinating dies. The floral paper is from the Family Ties paper pad by Pebbles and it was matted to Dapper Denim cardstock by Stampin' Up!. Some retired Island Indigo twine was added and the focal area was adhered with dimensionals. That's it! Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day.

Happy Owl Coffee Card

This afternoon I really debated between taking a nap or drinking more coffee to make a card. The coffee and card making won! I couldn't resist using the cute Happy Fall digital image by Craftin Desert Divas. It's been featured on several cards in the Fall Coffee Lovers Blog Hop and I think it's just adorable!

To color the image I used Copic markers and then used a stitched square die cut by Lil' Inkers. All patterned papers are from the Flea Market paper pad by Doodlebug Design. Cardstock colors include Bermuda Bay and Pumpkin Pie by Stampin' Up!. The sentiment is from the Stamplorations Coffee Happy stamp set by Shery Russ Designs and was stamped using Memento Rich Cocoa ink. Three green sequins were added for some sparkle and that's it. This Happy Owl Coffee Card is also entered into the following challenges: Allsorts (Feels Like Autumn) and 2 Crafty Crazies (Feature a Creature). Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Newton Halloween Card

Happy Tuesday! I mail around a dozen cards for Halloween to family and friends. Since it will be here next month I decided to get a start on my cards. To create this Newton Halloween Card I used the sketch from Newton's Inky Paws Challenge. When I first saw the sketch I thought it would make a cool moon card. The flying broom and kitty image from the Newton's Boo-tiful Night stamp set was the best choice to use in front of the moon.

To start I made the moon using watercolor paper and distress oxide inks in Antique Linen and Fossilized Amber. A small amount of Frayed Burlap was added to the edges of the moon, then it was spritzed with water and a heat gun used to speed the drying process. Then I made the sky background with distress oxide inks in Salty Ocean, Seedless Preserves and Black Soot on mixed media paper. The same process was used, spritz with water and heat set. Once this panel was dried I heat embossed several stars with Wow! Glow-in-the-Dark embossing powder and the sentiment with white embossing powder. The white strip of paper was stamped with the little bat. Newton was colored with Copic markers and then fussy-cut. Next everything was assembled and adhered flat for easy mailing. I decided it needed a little more sparkle, so I added three star sequins and that's it. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

It's Been Forever Card

This It's Been Forever Card was made for the Stella Says Sketch Challenge. My time as a guest designer is finished but I wanted to play along with this fun sketch.

Here's the sketch:

Sketch challenges are one of my favorites because the foundation has already been decided, all you have to do is assemble the pieces. I started this It's Been Forever Card by selecting the darling Flower Puppy image for the focal area. The hardest part is always deciding what patterned papers I'm willing to cut into (I have a hard time cutting my favorites!). Most of the patterned papers on this card are from the Happy Day! paper pad by Pebbles with the exception of the middle strip by Stampin' Up!. The sentiment is from a Fiskars stamp set called Hello Fabulous and was stamped using Memento black ink. I used some of my retired and hoarded candy dots for detail and that's it. I'm glad you stopped by and I hope you enjoy the rest of your day

Flower Teapot For You Card

Hello crafty friends! Today is the start of a new Stella Says Sketch Challenge at Catch The Bug. This Flower Teapot For You Card is what I was inspired to create. I used the Flower Teapot image by Bugaboo and colored it with Copic markers. The image was then die cut with a stitched circle die by My Favorite Things and matted to a slightly larger piece of Calypso Coral cardstock by Stampin' Up!. All patterned paper is from the Penny Black Painted Blooms paper pad. My sewing machine was sitting close by, so I added some yellow zig zag stitches where the papers joined. The Especially For You sentiment is slightly crooked but I decided it added character and I wasn't scrapping it. Three round glitter stickers by Jolee's was added for detail and that's it. I hope you will play along with the sketch challenge! Click here for the design team inspiration and challenge details. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Happy Mail Card

There are only hours left to play along in the Inky Paws Challenge. It's a sketch challenge and the Newton's Nook design team created some wonderful examples. I decided to play with the Newton's Happy Mail stamp set along with the coordinating die and the tiny flowers are from the Winston's Honeybees stamp set. After selecting the stamp sets I decided on patterned paper by Doodlebug Designs. The gingham was a scrap from an older paper pad and the polka dots are from the Spring Things paper pad. A white piece of cardstock was turned blue using a brayer and Tumbled Glass distress ink. The images and sentiment were stamped using Memento black ink and then colored with Copic markers. After layering the patterned papers onto a piece of Daffodil Delight cardstock by Stampin' Up!, some pink twine by was wrapped around and secured to the back with tape. Finally, it was ready to adhere to the card base and the bow was tied. That's it! Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Sketch Challenge at Tuesday Throwdown

Happy Tuesday! This week at Tuesday Throwdown instead of a theme challenge we have a sketch for you to follow that I created. I've always enjoyed sketch challenges, they are a great way to start the creative process. Our sponsor this week is Lacy Sunshine and my card features the Lizabeth Wild Daisies image. The design team created some wonderful inspiration using the sketch and we would love for you to play along. You have until mid-day on Monday, Sept. 19th to link your creation. Click here for all the challenge details and design team inspiration. I hope to see your creation in the gallery.

To me, starting with a sketch helps to simplify some of the choices when making a card. I knew what size the image needed to be and the arrangement of layers. All I had to do was pick patterned paper, cut, layer, stamp and color. Pretty easy! The papers for this card are by American Crafts and the Especially for You sentiment is from Crafter's Companion. Three small heart sequins were added to the pink punched hearts to add some sparkle and the image was colored with Copic markers. That pretty much sums it up. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Tangerine Tango Floral Thanks Card

It's way past my bedtime but once I got started I had to finish my card. This Tangerine Tango Floral Thanks Card was made using the Summer Sketch from Create with Connie & Mary. The angles on the sketch were a lot of fun to work with! I didn't do any fancy embellishing, it's just simple and clean. All supplies are by Stampin' Up! Here is the supply list:

  • Paper: Night of Navy, Whisper White and Garden Green cardstock, Flowerpot dsp and a long retired Blushing Bride dsp.
  • Stamps: Another Thank You stamp set and the discontinued Simple Stems stamp set.
  • Inks: Night of Navy and Tangerine Tango.
  • Other Stuff: Fancy Fan embossing folder, Crushed Curry twine, one lonely candy dot and dimensionals.
Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day/night!
