Casual Thinking of You Card

Good day everyone! Yesterday I was searching through some challenges and found three good ones to combine. I made this Casual Thinking of You Card for the following:
While deciding what flowers to use on my card, I looked around my desk and found a stash of already made extras from previous projects. The Mixed Bunch stamped flower and Secret Garden leaves I used were made last May for this card HERE. When stamping I tend to make two or three of everything and pick the best one, the extras go into a plastic container to use later. The problem is, I seldom look in the plastic container and just make something new. I need to challenge myself to use more of the pretty things that are already made. Keeping this in mind, I dug through my paper stash and found a piece of patterned paper from the Moonlight paper stack for the background. I wrapped a piece of Old Olive twine around the paper three times and then adhered directly to the kraft card. The Verve Thinking of You sentiment was stamped using Blackberry Bliss ink and that was it. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Handmade New Year's Card

Hello! I hope you're having a wonderful weekend! My crafting buddy was sunning himself in my craft room, so I couldn't resist hanging out with him and making a card. This Handmade New Year's Card was inspired by the photo challenge at Just Us Girls. I kept the design casual to play along with CAS-ual Fridays Happy New Year challenge.  I went with a monochrome brown color scheme. You can't really tell from the picture but the light tan is a glitter card stock by DCWV, which adds some sparkle. The clock patterned paper is by Karen Foster and the text print paper is from Stampin' Up!. The New Year sentiment is from a clear mini stamp set by KaiserCraft (CS926). There are only a couple of days left in 2013 and I hope you enjoy them. Thanks for stopping by!

Simple Butterfly Card

When I first started making cards I didn't own very many stamps. My stamp collection consisted of mainly sentiments. My card designs were created using patterned paper and stickers. Over the last year I have rarely use stickers and relied on stamping, embossing and punches. This afternoon I was looking through my sticker draw and found several beautiful butterfly stickers by K & Company. I immediately decided to revert back to my old ways and I made this Simple Butterfly Card. The only tools you need is a trimmer and a decorative edge punch. Sometimes it's nice to keep things simple. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your weekend!

Neon Good Job Card

Okay.... I really should be studying so this is going to be a really quick post! Here is my Neon Good Job Card that I made combining the following fabulous challenges:
To create this Neon Good Job Card I heat embossed the polka dots and sentiment with neon Zing! embossing powder. Black is a wonderful contrast to neon colors and I added black twine to add a little more interest. This card will end up going to one of my nieces. Thanks for stopping by and have a terrific Friday night!

Chevron & Flower Thanks Card

Hooray for the weekend! I took advantage of some free time this evening and made this casual Chevron & Flower Thanks Card. The theme for my card comes from a combination of this weeks CAS-ual Fridays (Chevrons & Flowers) and Moving Along With the Times (Let's Get Krafty) challenges. I LOVE using the kraft corrugated card stock with my blossom punch. It adds just enough texture without overpowering the card. To contrast the kraft card stock I used Pool Party card stock and the chevron patterned paper from the Sunshine & Sprinkles dsp both by Stampin' Up! Thanks for stopping by and have a FABulous weekend!

Just a Note of Love

This morning when I read the theme challenge at CAS-ual Fridays was LOVE SONG, there were many songs that popped into my head. There was no way I could pick just one, so I settled on using sheet music. Growing up I took piano lessons and although I don't play often, I love sheet music. Especially vintage sheet music. So, think instrumental classical music, Beethoven's Symphony No. 5 or Chopin's Prelude in E-Minor. The notes are all that matter with no lyrics getting in the way. To start this creative process  I started digging through my stash and realized I needed to make a trip to the craft store, or at least that's the "excuse" I used. Anyway, I found some washi tape with sheet music by Recollections and it was perfect for the card I wanted to create. Now there is no song that feels left out, because they can all be represented with this Just a Note Love Card. Thanks for stopping by my blog!

Just a Note Love Card Supplies:
  • Paper: Very Vanilla, Cherry Cobbler, and Basic Black card stock by Stampin' Up!
  • Other Stuff: Big Shot, Sizzix label die, Cricut machine, George and Basic Shapes cartridge (oval) and Home Accents cartridge (love script), silver heart brads from my stash, washi tape by Recollections, and dimensionals.

Contemporary Valentine Card

Hello! Here is a quick Saturday afternoon post to enter a couple of challenges. This Contemporary Valentine Card is entered into the following challenges:
I started this card by colouring the square with my Copic markers. Then I cut the heart with my Cricut machine, adhered it with dimensionals, and then added the sentiment. Depending on your colouring speed this was a super quick and easy card. Thanks for stopping by!

Valentine's Card

It's Friday! That means it's time for a CAS-ual Fridays challenge. The challenge this week is to make a LONG and SHORT card, so for this Valentine's Card I made it 4 x 8. I like making cards this size but sometimes I just forget about it, so this was a fun challenge for me. The patterned paper is the new More Amore Specialty Designer Series Paper  by Stampin' Up!.  I love the mix of colours in this paper. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your weekend!!!

Silver Star Thank You Card

Today's challenge at CAS-ual Fridays is to create a thank you card. This was the perfect time to open my new Starry Sky all over the page punch by Martha Stewart. My brother & his wife bought it for me for Christmas and I needed to make them a thank you card. So, this Silver Star Thank You Card was made for them with the punch they gave me. I used Midnight Muse card stock and a thank you stamp from the Sassy Salutations set by Stampin' Up! I heat embossed the sentiment with silver embossing powder. The silver star was cut with my Cricut machine and I added a little bling to finish it off. A super easy card! Thanks for stopping by my blog and have a wonderful weekend!!!

Handmade Merry Christmas Card

Hello and Merry Christmas! My family celebrated Christmas over the weekend, so it's been a quiet day for my husband and I. This gave me a wonderful opportunity to try this weeks challenge at CAS-ual Fridays, CFC83: Create a CAS holiday card in less than 10 minutes! I have said many times that I am the slowest card maker and that makes this challenge perfect for me. I kept the design really simple and used a K & Company dimensional snowflake sticker for the focal point. I'm happy to say I completed this Handmade Merry Christmas Card in under 10 minutes, but I didn't set any speed records. Thanks for stopping by my blog and enjoy the rest of your day!

Paisley Banner Thank You Card

Welcome to my late night Saturday post. Do you ever find yourself looking for excuses to buy a new crafting item? For the last several months I really wanted to buy the Cricut Pretty Pennants cartridge, but I always convinced myself to wait. Then, Friday morning I read the CAS-ual Fridays challenge is for banners and flags, and at that point I really wished I had purchased it. So what did I do? You guessed it, I went and bought it, and that's how I made the banner on this Paisley Banner Thank You Card.  I added the floral embellishment to give the card a little romantic flair. Thanks for stopping by my blog!

Paisley Banner Thank You Card Supplies:
  • Paper: Brown card stock, white card stock, and marmalade blast card stock by Bazzill Basics.
  • Stamps: Curly Cute sentiment stamp set by Stampin' Up! (120510).
  • Inks: Classic stampin' pad in early espresso.
  • Other Stuff: Decorative corner punch by Creative Memories, Cricut machine, pretty pennants cartridge, floral embellishment by Recollections, and stampin' dimensionals.

Un"frog"etable Card

I'm running a little behind entering my usual challenges. I guess I'll go with the saying that it's better late than never. The theme challenge at CAS-ual Fridays: Splish Splash prompted me to create this Un"frog"etable Card. I couldn't resist using this cute frog image and sentiment from Rubbernecker Stamps. I colored the frog with stampin' write and Copic markers. For the water I sponged on two different blue colors and then went over it with tahitian colored twinkling H2O's to give the water a little shimmer. I fussy cut the frog image and adhered with dimensionals. Twinkling H2O's is a product I saw demonstrated at the CKC convention. You use it with water and a paint brush. I really like the subtle shimmer it adds. Thanks for stopping by my blog.

You're Super Card

There are many uses for this You're Super Card created for the CAS-ual Fridays challenge. The challenge is to make a square card. This card is a 5" square with a Superman emblem cut using the Cricut machine and Superman cartridge (291071). My husband was the inspiration behind this card. Our fifteenth anniversary is next month and I may just turn this into an anniversary card, because he is a SUPER guy. Thanks for stopping by my blog and have a crafty day!
