Be Thankful Card

Happy Sunday! I hope you're having a lovely day. This past week was spent finishing up my Thanksgiving cards. Now that they've been mailed I can play along with a couple of weekly challenges. This Be Thankful Card was made for the following challenges:
The color challenge includes: rusty orange, warm burgundy and pear-like green. For the green I used Pear Pizzazz and the warm burgundy is a piece or Core'dinations sandable cardstock. I cut a negative space into the burgundy cardstock, embossed it with the square lattice embossing folder by Stampin' Up! and then added a pear border inside. The image is from the Hello Fall Simon Says Stamp exclusive stamp set by Newton's Nook. I colored the images with Copic markers. A little twine was wrapped around the card for detail. The leaf bag was paper pieced using a recycled kraft shopping bag and adhered with dimensionals. That about sums it up!

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Photo Inspiration Challenge

Good morning! Today marks a year and a half since I started this blog. I've had so much fun creating and sharing my cards that I decided to start a biweekly challenge. The challenge will rotate between a photo inspiration color challenge and a theme challenge. One of the things I love is to see all the different interpretations from the same inspiration and I can't wait to see what you create. There will be a challenge winner selected and they will receive a prize that coordinates with the challenge. I sure hope you will play along! The first challenge photo is of a floral arrangement my hubby bought me. There are a lot of creative options in this color palette. You can hold on to summer or jump right into fall. Which will you choose?

For my card I stayed with a summery feel. The orange tone I chose is Tangerine Tango by Stampin' Up! and I paired it with Wisteria sandable card stock by Core'dinations. The patterned paper is from the Venetian Romance dsp and the stamp sets are Mixed Bunch and Sassy Salutations all by Stampin' Up! I pulled the deep purple from the back of the arrangement to be my focal color and accented it with Gumball Green.

Wonderfall Grateful Card

Here in the United States we have seventeen days until the first day of Autumn. I'm ready for the fall colors and cooler temperatures to arrive. The Paper Players have a fall themed challenge this week and time to play along is almost gone. So this evening I made this Wonderfall Grateful Card. I combined retired and new products by Stampin' Up! in my card. The colors are:
  • Crushed Curry
  • Early Espresso
  • Old Olive
  • Pumpkin Pie
  • Whisper White
When I came up with the layout I knew I'd have to make this card a little larger. The finished size is 6.25" x 4.5" to accommodate the 4" woodgrain circle. I fussy-cut the leaves and adhered them along with the sentiment banner to the circle with dimensionals. I really like the Old Olive with the Crushed Curry and the woodgrain embossing folder is one of my seasonal favorites. Thanks for stopping by and have a fantastic evening and pleasant tomorrow!

My Wonderfall Grateful Card is entered into the following challenges:

Wonderfall Grateful Card Supplies:
  • Paper: Early Espresso, Whisper White and More Mustard card stock (I thought I picked up Pumpkin Pie card stock and it wasn't until I had everything together that I realized I used More Mustard, geez!), Sandable Early Espresso card stock, Sweater Weather dsp, and retired Old Olive dsp.
  • Stamps: Wonderfall stamp set and Truly Grateful stamp set.
  • Inks: Classic stampin' pads in Crushed Curry, Early Espresso, Old Olive and Pumpkin Pie.

Noble Deer Birthday Card

The challenge at Shopping Our Stash this week is to make a card for a boy/guy. That works out perfectly for me, one of my male cousins has a birthday coming up. He is a true country boy and the retired Noble Deer stamp by Stampin' Up! made the perfect image for his card. The layout comes from the Monday Lunchtime Sketch from Technostamper. I used a woodgrain embossing folder with Early Espresso sandable card stock. I love the look of sanded card stock and for this Noble Deer Birthday Card it gives it a nice rugged feel. The patterned paper is from the Hooked on Fishing collection by The Paper Loft. The sentiment stamp is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set by Stampin' Up! and the jute twine is by American Crafts. Thanks for stopping by!

Embossed Butterfly Sympathy Card

Since I moved my crafting space into my spare bedroom, it seems I've been getting more accomplished. I added some more organizational storage which has made finding things much easier. I still have a hard time organizing single sheet patterned paper! It seems I'm always digging for that pattern I "know" I have somewhere. Any ideas??? I'm open to suggestion.

Okay- on to my card. When I create a sympathy card I want it to embody the person/family I've created it for. To me, a sympathy card is the most personal card one could receive. Just know, I haven't always felt this way, but death changed me. When my sister passed away suddenly almost two years ago, it was a very hard and emotional experience. From that point the sympathy card earned my respect and understanding of the great value it holds. This Embossed Butterfly Sympathy Card was made for The Paper Players challenge. Although, I didn't make this card for someone, thank goodness, it has the serene look that I like to create. Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to hug the ones you love!

Embossed Butterfly Sympathy Card Supplies:
  • Paper: Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, Night of Navy, and Very Vanilla card stock by Stampin' Up!, Core'dinations French Roast sandable card stock, patterned paper by The Paper Studio (Vintage Butterfly and Quaterfoil - Navy/Cream).
  • Stamps: Visual Artistry Collection by Tim Holtz, Teeny Tiny Wishes and Secret Garden stamp sets by Stampin' Up!
  • Inks & Coloring: Classic stampin' pads in Crumb Cake and Soft Suede. ColorBox chalk ink in Chestnut Roan by Clearsnap. VersaMark watermark stamp pad. Embossing powders in Lapis Pearlustre by Stampendous! and blue metallic finish by Zing!
  • Other Stuff: Big Shot, Square Lattice embossing folder, Secret Garden Framelits, sanding block, heat tool, Modern Label punch, Word Window punch, and dimensionals all by Stampin' Up! and rhinestone by The Paper Studio.

Floral Encouragement Card

Good afternoon! It's been awhile since I've played along with a ColourQ challenge but when I saw the colours this week, I knew I had to participate. I'm not really a fan of pink, but I really like a pink and brown colour scheme. The layout for this Floral Encouragement Card comes from Tuesday Morning Sketches and it was designed by Laura Nehring. I love the way the sketch is laid out, it has a wonderful main focal point and just enough detail without becoming fussy. You might notice I've sanded my embossed panel again. I'm really into sanding right now! I LOVE the way it enhances the embossing. The flower was stamped using the rock-n-roll method. If you look closely you can tell the tips of the flowers are darker than the center. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy your day!
