Tissue Pouches

I made quite a few tissue pouches for gifts, these are a few of them. They hold the handy size handbag packets of tissues. I used vintage fabrics for them, some more vintage than others. If you want to make some there are lots of tutorials on Pinterest.

I think the oldest fabric is the light blue floral, I had a dress made of the same fabric when I was a little girl.

Three Cushions

My daughter Emma had a request for cushions and this is the result. She provided a picture of a vintage design with altered colours which I redrew from scratch and then had fabric printed at Spoonflower. [I'll not be selling this fabric as it's very similar to the original design.]

The other cushion is applique and embroidery. I purchased plain grey and white fabrics but couldn't find any for the other colours quickly so I had to dye fabric. I think I used a small ruler to make the straight lines on the orange fabric. The black lines are the embroidery, couching.

There are some things I don't like about the cushion, for example the fusible web shows a pattern through the white fabric........

My daughter is delighted with the cushions.

Handmade Book, Recycled Book

Two books for gifts
Handmade book - the pages were from vintage books, envelopes, music etc which I coloured with paint. I've collaged a plain thin piece of paper to each page so that it can be used for writing in. I used a zutter binder to make the holes and attach the wire.

Recycled Book, a new book from an old one. The cover was printed on t-shirt transfer paper and transferred onto fabric, which went quick thick and shiny [probably kept the iron on too long], but I liked the effect. I embellished it with a bit of stitchery and beads.
I collaged each page with art work, found papers, printed papers etc

This image below shows most of the pages, you'll have to click on it to see it more clearly.

Crazy Patchwork Bag - Green 2

If you've been following my blog you may think you saw this a few days ago but it is a different bag. I used similar fabrics but patched in a different way and with different embroidery stitches.

Crazy Patchwork Bag - Blue

The second bag made from vintage tweed, coat and cord fabrics.
Many of embroidery stitches I found on Take a stitch Tuesday [TAST] at pintangle.
You will also find tips on crazy patchwork if you fancy having a go.

The other side is just patchwork, no embroidery.

Crazy Patchwork Bag - Green

I made bags for gifts for my arty friends, this is one of them. One side is crazy patchwork, the other side is crazy patchwork and embroidery. I used thick coat fabrics, tweeds and cords - all vintage.

Handmade Gifts

These are the handmade gifts I received from my 'arty' friends.

A tree from Marian with ribbon wrapped around the base.

A bagful [handmade of course] of goodies - clay decorations, felt house, decorated jar, pebble.

A doll from Gillian.

I love her curly hair.

A bauble picture from Vicky. It was difficult to get a good picture of this because of the glass reflection.
I've got some talented friends, haven't I?

Fabric Christmas Trees

I went to a workshop at a friends shortly before Christmas and we made little Christmas trees from fabric. The patchwork trees are stuffed with wadding, have dowelling for a trunk and empty thread reels are used to keep them upright. I used braid for extra decoration.
