Miniature Sketchbook

When my friend Helen left the area she gave me and other members of our arty group a sketchbook challenge. She gave us a miniature book which measures 4" square and a box containing papers, fabric, pegs, beads, letters, tags and other bits and pieces. I used quite a bit of the stuff and also added bits of my own plus drawings and a bit of paint here and there. 

Helen started us off by giving us ideas on the first few pages.

I've now completed the book, I can't say it is my best effort so I will post half the pages today and the rest next time.

Tiger Applique and Embroidery

I started this tiger last year, October I think and finished it in January but I've only just got round to sorting the photos [which were also taken in January] The tiger is now hanging on a wall but I'm thinking it may look better in a glass-less frame.

I started with layers of different patterned fabrics applied to a background fabric with Heat n' Bond. The black fabric [arranged so a lot of it is joined] was partly cut on my Zing but I ended up cutting some of it by hand. [I thought it was the machines fault at the time but it was user error], which was machine stitched on top of the patterned fabrics.

I then applied hand embroidery, running stitches, all over the patterned fabric.

Sketchbook 50

This book is for my collection of paper cuts. These were mainly designed on my tablet, transferred to the computer, then brought into 'Make the Cut' as a pixel trace and then cut with my cutting machine. The machine is a KNK Zing Air and all on this post were cut on thin card.
