Sewing

These are some items I made last year which I never told you about.
A crazy patchwork peg bag made from vintage fabrics with a long handle so that you can slip it over your shoulder while pegging.

I made two tote type bags out of some upholstery fabric I had in my drawer which will come in handy now that we have the bag charge in the shops.
I've not lined the bags as it is quite a thick material and its a nice yellow on the underside.

One is quite tall and slender the other is not as tall but wider.

The tissue holder was made from a fabric swatch from Woven Monkey UK

Vintage Collage Book - the last pages

My last post was 14th December, wondered where I'd got to?
Well to start with I went down to London as my daughter gave birth to my first grandchild, a lovely little boy. It was a difficult birth and baby was in IC for a while but I'm happy to say they are both at home now and doing very well.
Then when I got back home my computer worked once then died so that had to be sorted.

It's probably a bit late to post pictures of some hand made Christmas lanterns so I'm showing the last pages of the vintage collage book. The top one of vintage adverts shows it is a man's world where women are only good for cooking and cleaning!

The adverts on this page are quite shocking.... beer for a mother and baby as a pick me up, a small child with a revolver [although it does say they are not toys], and a baby drinking 7up,

50 Shades of White and Peacock Cushions

I've made up my fifty shades of white applique into a cushion

and also my white embroidered peacock is also a cushion.
Because it is white on white it doesn't show up very well so I messed about with the image just to try and make the embroidery stand out.

Badger Calendar 2016 Tea Towel

I had this tea towel printed at Print Me Pretty in the UK

The swatch on the left was from Spoonflower [US] and the other was from Print Me Pretty. Spoonflower's looks more vibrant on the basic cotton, I'm not sure if it would look the same printed on the linen.
The tea towel is available to purchase from either site, it comes as fabric so you have to hem it yourself.

Embroidery and Lace Pictures

I used little 6"x 4" canvases for these little pictures, collaged pages from a gardening book and used Liquitex Inks to colour.
I revisited Pintangle [Take a Stitch Tuesday] to remind myself how to to do some of the embroidery stitches I have done in the past. Sharon is showing how to do embroidery stitches again if you wish to join in.
Above - Raised herringbone band, running stitch.

Slipped detached chain stitch, cross stitch.

Fancy hem stitch, running stitch.

Up and down feather stitch, running stitch.
I shall include these on Simply Neutrals Tuesday, do pop along to see more.
