Chicken!

This layout uses supplies from lfe kit Carefree, sequins from SpiegelMom Scraps and a crochet piece from My Pet Crocheter... This chicken is so fun!! Thanks for stopping by!

Sequin Canvas

Oh boy!  I'm in love!! This is my latest piece for SpiegelMom Scraps - you can read all about it here. *sigh* Look at all the sparkle and texture! You can watch it come together here: I would like to share this at Inspire Me Mondays.

Stash Busters - Punches - Post

I am delighted to bring you the first ever Stash Busters video hop!  There are a few scrapping YouTubers who have got together to bring you ideas for busting your craft stash.  The first item to bust was punches... well, I was in a little bit of a pickle because I don't own any!  You see, the only way I could justify buying my beloved Silhouette Cameo was that I didn't have punches and dies and manual machines. With my Cameo I cut a lot of background files and I always keep all of the cut-outs... I have quite a stash!  So it was these that I decided to bust. I added some sequins from SpiegelMom Scraps and you can use the code Laura15 to receive a discount. I love the dimension and shimmer of all the layers of hearts.  I think I may well be using this technique again.  I have used up quite a few hearts - perhaps I'll try using the chevron/arrows next! You can find a list of my fellow Stash Busters' videos in the details of my video on YouTub

My Boy @ 2/Quinny

I've recently finished a couple of layouts using Cocoa Vanilla supplies.  The first is using the April 16 Lottie Loves Paper kit - a mix of CVS and Simple Stories ephemera and embellishments.  I pulled a couple of papers from my stash along with some tissue paper and ink. I'm nearing the end of the kit (still got oodles of alphas!) so I'm making an effort to use as much as I can.  I've probably already used my favourite pieces, but how a I going to use the numbers and pie chart?   Well, the pie chart got snipped in two and used as layering bits... And one of the numbers was incorporated in to the title. The second layout uses the colour me happy collection.  Well, I say collection, I only have the papers... So I only used patterned paper for this layout!  OK, there is a little thread and vellum, and a few alphas from Basic Grey... but the title and embellishment line are fussy cut from the papers. I needed a bit more orange - and who would

Ribbon Weaving

You know when you love the outcome but loathe the process?  Yep, that's me and ribbon weaving!! This is a blank note book from The Craft Barn covered with satin ribbon in two widths, woven together.  I love the effect the two widths of ribbon give. I used Dresdon Blue for my narrow ribbon and jam pots for my wider ribbon, of course from Crafty Ribbons . I finished off the inside with a sheet of paper.  It not only helps to keep the ends of the ribbon stuck down but also neatens it all up. I didn't enjoy the weaving part, as I mentioned earlier, but weirdly I think I am hooked!  I will need to do a bit more weaving... it'll be coming soon!

Strawberry Swap

Every now and again I like to take part in swaps, especially hand made swaps.  I recently signed up to Mad About Bags Strawberry Swap .  Here are a few of the bits I sent to Lynn...  A beaded strawberry necklace made with organza ribbon. Watercolour strawberry bunting made with Morlaix lace. If you have a cutting machine and would like the cut file I used you can download it free here . Unsure of how to package it to stop it getting tangled I made a quick card to wrap it around.  I also had a go at painting tissue paper - it gets very soggy and delicate but if you allow it too dry without moving it it works well. On to the bought bits - Edible; strawberry bon bons and strawberry & champagne jam.  Practical; a stem gem and a cookery book.  I made a few bookmarks with a Suse Fish strawberry stamp and marked all the recipes the had strawberries as ingredients!  There was a lip balm too, strawberry flavoured of course, but I forgot to photograph it befo

Friday Smiles

When taking some photos of layouts for my blog I plonked my camera down on my desk, still switched on, as I needed two hands to rearrange the layout.  As I glanced over to pick up my camera this is what I saw on the screen... so I napped it! Linking up at Friday Smiles with Annie

Pudding

A new colour of Dazzlerz paste and a free sample of water colour paints means an experimental layout... I have Barely Blue, and true to it's name it is barely blue!  It is wonderful soft colour.  I spread some around on my background card stock to add interest and shimmer. Then I played with some watercolours and a Juliana Michaels cut file.  I had the wrong settings or my blade was wearing out, and it had not cut perfectly.  In most areas the cut line held the watercolour inside giving me a white border to each butterfly. I gathered up sequins from loads of collections, just picking a few of each, in colours that matched my butterflies.  I also coloured a doily to match too, and layered it under my photo. It certainly is experimental but I like the effect of the Dazzlerz roughly spread in the background with a cut file layered over the top.  I also love the coloured doily ... but I already knew that!  I've just ordered some more as I keep colouring them and

It's Granny!

Here is my monthly foray in to not-white-background scrapbooking!! I used one of the solid colour cardstocks from my like for ever kit.  The title is the message that came through with the photo message... gotta love that boy! I dug around in my stash and added a few stickers from a previous kit.  The rest is from August's like for ever kit. I struggle with these big words so I was very pleased to find the 'fabulous' fitted in, tucked slightly underneath photo. I altered the plain white peg from the Cocoa Vanilla bits and pieces pack.  I just used my black pen to add the same pattern that the title alphas have.

Teeny Tiny Window

I was a little stumped by the house and window paper in Paige Evans' latest line.  That was until I realised that I had a photo of a window that I wanted to scrap! I fussy cut the windows from the 6x6 pad and stuck them to the Cocoa Vanilla pink paper.  I used a sheet of vellum over the top to push them back slightly, so the focus would stay on top of the vellum with the photo. I pulled out some tiny alphas from a previous Cocoa Vanilla collection which matched perfectly.  I couldn't make a big title work with the photo of the tin window! I had obviously had enough of pink by this stage and focused on peach and aqua for the layers above the vellum. I repeated all the colours and patterns in a small cluster at the top of the layout. I'm so glad I didn't give up on the windows! Thanks for stopping by!

Bike Tag

Sometimes I have these crazy ideas that I need to get out of my head... you know, like when you wonder if you can make a mini bike out of wire with buttons for wheels... It turns out you can, imagination, two buttons, pliers and about 80cm of thin craft wire is all you need! I added it to a tag (I get mine from SpiegelMom Scraps and the code Laura15 will get you a discount) with some seam binding and satin ribbon from Crafty Ribbons .  I tied the tag with a little more seam binding and 3mm grosgrain in a matching light orchid . I know it's quirky but I love it!! Thanks for stopping by!

Me & You

Ah, it's my boys!  I love this layout, I love the photos, I love the colours, I love the boys! I've used watercolour card for the background and mixed several different blue-green shades.  No real plan other than an end goal of watery and subtle. The grey alphas, enamel dots and green hearts are from my stash but everything else is from my like for ever kit. Puffy stickers from (my beloved) Cocoa Vanilla. The clear stickers with black writing are cut up.  I didn't fancy the whole sentiments - too fancy or wordy for me - so I just trimmed off the words I wanted to use and tucked the cut edges under a paper layer. And the black splats are with Liquitex Acrylic Ink blown with a straw.  We did this with paint as kids and I swear I enjoy it as much now as I did back then!! Thanks for stopping by
