Scrapbooking | Twofer!

I had a vision for a layout.  I had a tinker around and designed a cutfile in Studio.  In my mind's eye it was cut on patterned paper so I had a long search for 'the one' and eventually picked a Pinkfresh paper I had considered much earlier in my stash dive.  I think it is Shimelle who says when you find something that works stop looking.  I did not listen. *shakes head* As I cut it it dawned on me that it was a perfect two for one cut.  The positive and the negative were equally as striking. So I set about turning them into layouts with the intention of them being very different, although obviously featuring the same cut file design. I kept one simple with ephemera with words plus a few puffy stickers, and went all out floral on the second. I don't often make floral laden layouts as they don't tend to match my photos.  This run of baby Theo photos could take the florals though, especially as the colours of the flowers enhanced the blues and yellows in the photos. 2023 Goals | Update

I think we are twelve weeks in to the year now and that seems like a good time to do a little review of my goals for the year.  You can find the post here - my messy ramblings straight from my messy head!  The main part I'm interested in this time is: "So what AM I going to do? Make with what I have. Enter challenges. Find an outlet for my cards so they don't build up. File my layouts every five pages. Rediscover what I love and do that more. If something new really strikes me (and I use a set I already have randomly picked from the jar, wait two weeks and still want it, and make the space for it by one in one out) I can purchase it - but it does need to pass The Questions. Do I have anything SIMILAR already in my stash? Can I get CREATIVE with something I already own and make it work?  Do I really LOVE the product or do I love what other people are doing with it?  Do I NEED it" So points 1 and 2 get a big old tick; 3 and 4 do not; 5 is a work in progress and I'm

Cardmaking | Challenges!

The batch of challenges that came out at the beginning of the month all struck a chord with me.  I've made a couple of cards to enter it to a few challenges... First up we have a mini slimline based on a sketch from There's A Stamp For That and the Colour Throwdown palette. The ephemera is from Cocoa Vanilla Studio.  The hearts and the heart strip are scraps fom die cutting experiments.  The stamping is from a couple of Alex Syberia stamp sets.  The background stamping is meant to be subtle and just to add some texture rather than be super readable. Here's the sketch and swatch: Of course, I've missed the link up for CTD, doh!  I have very little physical energy available at the moment but a lot of thinking and creative energy.  It's a really frustrating pairing! (But much better than having nothing of anything!)  Also fits Simon's slimline challenge which I may sneak into on time. Then I have this green and gold birthday card...   This one is for Colour Hues

Scrapbooking | Fussy Cutting and Painting

I seem to have fussy cut the majority of a sheet a Cocoa Vanilla floral paper.  I thought I'd paint myself a background for them to sit on... and then used barely any of them on top as I couldn't bear to cover the painting!! The paints are all from Shimmerz in varying shades of blue with a touch of Miner Miner 49er - which is a fantastic shade of gold - thrown in towards the end. This is take two of the painting as the first try was far too tight.  I loosened up for this attempt so much so that I dropped the paintbrush at one point.  That made for even more looseness as I had to incorporate the extra paint it left where it landed! Embellishing was super simple with three gold thread tangles and some sequins. I have loads of the fussy cut flowers left over so I have started painting another background to work on top of.  Hopefully I'll be able to bear covering more of it up! I've reached the fantastic milestone of 1000 subscribers on YouTube.  To celebrate I've broug

Pretty My Page | Rescuing a Bad Cut!

We’ve all been there I’m sure.   The machine is set to cut, it’s whirring away and doing its magic and then you do it.   You knock the machine.   Sigh!   I knocked it badly on this occasion and nudged the cutting mat off course.   I paused the machine, cancelled the cut, unloaded the mat and went about trying to salvage what I could. It was about half cut so I took a straight line across the page, at a slight angle to maximum the amount of the cut file I could save.   I stuck the large piece to my background and added in the smaller pieces using the scrap of half cut file as a guide as to where the pieces needed to go.   I then had a 12x12 with half a cut file ready to go as a background for a layout. All that and I haven’t even mentioned what cut file I have used yet!   This is (half of!) Brolly Jolly.   You can buy the digi download here and purchase the pre-cut here . The rest of the layout went without a hitch.   I gathered supplies to match a colour scheme of aqua, purple and lim

Throwback | hello CAKE

Still going with the unshared layouts found in my drafts folder.  2018 me is such a bad blogger! I think pretty much all of the supplies are from Cocoa Vanilla Studio. The blue looks like Dazzlerz from Shimmerz.  I no longer have any as it takes eons to dry... but it does look good! Thanks for stopping by!

NSD Fun #2

Here are another couple of layouts I made over the NSD weekend. This is a scraplift of Emilie Chamel for Bramble Fox. I adored Emilie's layout as soon as I saw it and love how mine turned out too. Lots of leaves and a Bramble Fox camera. This second layout uses a string of stamped, heat embossed and fusst cut bunting that I made for my Mum's birthday.  She knows me well... when she took it (and her birthday cards) down from the mantle she brought it back for me to scrap with! Seems fitting that I scrap the birthday selfies we took (the day after her birthday because I forgot on the day!) The stamps are from Simon Says and are gorgeous! Shimmerz and sequins to match, butterflies... what's not to like! Thanks for stopping by!

NSD Fun #1

Here are a few layouts I made over the weekend for NSD challenges. This one combines Bramble Fox and Lottie Loves Paper challenges. The design is a rough scraplift of Philippa McCray for Bramble Fox Whilst the yellow and white striped paper bag conceals hidden journalling for the Lottie Loves Paper challenge. This second layout is based on a sketch I created for Lottie Loves Paper. This bird paper from Paige Evans is a firm favourite of mine. Never has the term thread nest been more appropriate! I added some stitching for extra detail.   And finally a footie themed layout using papers I designed. This fits a tic tac toe board from Lottie Loves Paper - blue alphas, two photos and 3+ hearts. I had to piece together some grey alphas to make missing letters.  I'm sure it looks OK but it's all I can see at the moment! I have a couple more layouts to share tomorrow.

Throwback | Tiny Squares

A sweet pastel grid layout rescued from the dreaded drafts folder... This was made and photographed back in 2018. These papers are from Cocoa Vanilla Studio and all the lace is from Crafty Ribbons. Thanks for stopping by!
