Shape Series | Triangles

So this "month" I'm focusing on triangles.  I'm so glad I didn't commit to doing this by the calendar month, I much prefer my free and easy months aka a few weeks and a bit extra or less... whichever.  We've gone up from a one sided shape - circle, to two sided shapes - hearts, to three sided shapes.  I'm not focussing on any particular triangle, I want to play with them all!   My initail stash search showed up a fair few dies, a handful of 'proper' rubber stamps from Skull and Cross Buns and a few patterned papers.  I still need to look through my stencils as I'm sure I've got some triangle themed stencils too.  My main focus is going to be using up my triangular shaped enamel stickers.  I've got a few from various mixed shape packs and I've used them all except for the triangles.  I'm not sure why the triangles never make it to the finished projects but this is the month that changes! As far as sketches and cut files go I ha

NSD Fun #1

Here are a few layouts I made over the weekend for NSD challenges. This one combines Bramble Fox and Lottie Loves Paper challenges. The design is a rough scraplift of Philippa McCray for Bramble Fox Whilst the yellow and white striped paper bag conceals hidden journalling for the Lottie Loves Paper challenge. This second layout is based on a sketch I created for Lottie Loves Paper. This bird paper from Paige Evans is a firm favourite of mine. Never has the term thread nest been more appropriate! I added some stitching for extra detail.   And finally a footie themed layout using papers I designed. This fits a tic tac toe board from Lottie Loves Paper - blue alphas, two photos and 3+ hearts. I had to piece together some grey alphas to make missing letters.  I'm sure it looks OK but it's all I can see at the moment! I have a couple more layouts to share tomorrow.

Scrapbooking | Bits and Bobs

This layout started with a scrap of paper.  I can't tell who it is made by or how long I've had it.  I can tell you I wish I had more! It's a muted grey, orange, turquoise and mustard stripe with a fab mottled texture.  I paired it with a few enamel frames, puffy alphas and puffy phrase stickers, a mustard and white chevron cardstock frame and enamel dots.  It's a stash layout using old supplies that have not seen the love they deserve. The cardstock frame was chopped in two and slipped behind the photo cluster.  It appears to be a large landscape frame underneath the portrait paper anchoring the whole layout... but we know it's just a small square frame posturing! This was one of those moments where being a silly-shopper-who-buys-every-colour-of-enamel-dot came in handy as I was able to shuffle through my entire collection and pull out perfect colour matches. And that's it - my favourite layout of the moment! Thanks for stopping by

Scrapbooking | It's a Marmite

Whilst I had my Shimelle stash out I wanted to get this story recorded... The silver foiled bug paper was a perfect match.  I layered over some 12x12 vellum so the photo and story could dominate most of the layout.  Papermill Direct have just started doing 12x12 vellum and the quality is excellent.  It was another day for machine sewing too... I chose a fancy stitch this time.  I don't know why I don't use more of the stitch options as they add such character to the page. I went a little crazy for the little word stickers too.  They all seemed to match - curious, wonderer, learn... The story is such a cute one.  My neph insisted on calling the velvet mite in his insect book a marmite. I used every bug themed supply I could and then resorted to butterflies. The enamel butterflies are from Jillibean Soup so not only a different collection but an entirely different manufacturer, but still they colour matched perfectly. Here's the video: Th

Scrapbooking | FTLOPP Moodboard

I am going to try and play along with as many of FTLOPP 's weekly challenges as possible.  I know I won't manage all of them but I'll be giving it my best.  Here is number one...  The layout is based on this moodboard: I've chosen to focus mainly on the top right image as well as taking the overall colour palette of the board - dark blue, gold and kraft or "old book". I loved the top image so much that I drew up a cut file inspired by it, cut it on navy card and backed the various plants with coloured papers. I added plenty of fine gold splatter behind where each leaf cluster would sit.  To embellish I added tiny heart stickers and enamel hearts.  I kept trying to add more but it didn't work.  The gorgeous ombre paper ( Cocoa Vanilla at it's finest!) in the background adds enough interest along with the cut file that any more and the photo would get lost. For my title I only had silver thickers.  They were glittered and th

Stick It Down | September Sketch

Here is my layout for Stick It Down this month. I had fun creating this sketch and tried to be a little bit different. I used Pink Fresh Studio supplies along with mists from Shimmerz and black thread from my stash.  My title is made from white foam stickers coloured with a black pen and topped with glossy accents.  It took a bit of a turn from the pale pastel I originally thought it would be as I carried on adding more and more black! Thanks for stopping by!

Dinosaur PJS | Camera | Try. Fail. Learn.

Sharing my last batch of layouts... Dinosaur PJs UKSA have a monthly theme of no cardstock, FTLOPP have a monthly theme of stashbustingyour patterned papers.  I've combined both for this layout. The supplies are Elle's Studio and Bella Blvd.  I love the colours and the dinosaur! I waivered mid-way through the layout and nearly switched to white card but I'm glad I stuck it out. Camera This layout again uses no cardstock and lots (for me) of patterned paper.  The prompt was from Stash Busting and was to use white and one other colour. The acrylic cameras are from my vast stash of Color Cast Designs.  I don't use them because they work out expensive after paying handling and shipping. I'm not letting myself think like that this year as it really makes no sense!  (I'm also not letting myself buy things from overseas if they work out costing a guilt inducing amount.) Try. Fail. Learn The exact same story for this lay

Stick It Down

Don't you just love a set of ridiculous photos?  Ha! Here is my layout for Stick It Down ... I was pretty faithful to the sketch... The photo sequence shows me attempting to get a new headshot.  Utter madness!  My face makes weird shapes... The teeny tiny paperclips are from Doodlebug, mixed media stuff from Shimmerz and Liquitex.  The borders a re a free cut file from UK Scrap Addicts. Fancy joining us at Stick It Down this month? See you there...
