Oh Ali! What Have You Started?

As I shared yesterday I made some metal leafed cork hearts .  As soon as the first layout using them was finished I started on another!  This one is made from the same collection (My Mind's Eye On Trend 2 from my like for ever kit - there are a few available as I type, but be quick!!) and includes the cork heart with the most metal leaf on.  I also added in some pegs , twine , Mint Chip sequin mix and Peachy Sherbet sequin mix from SpiegelMom Scraps. I ran out of A's so I used an upside down V with a bit of a Z for the cross bar.  Also a P makes a reasonable ? if your alpha pack doesn't include punctuation! The story is about my friend Ali mentioning rock buns.  She makes them nearly every weekend.  Of course, when you hear of a food that you haven't had for a few years you immediately want to taste it again. If you fancy a nibble the recipe can be found here ! You can find my supplies in the SpiegelMom Scraps shop and if you ...

Craft Hack - Gold Flecked Hearts

Hi Friends!  I'm here today to share a craft hack... I've had my eye on some cork hearts with gold flecks in them, but each time I've tried to buy them online they are sold out.  I put my thinking cap on and came up with a plan to make my own... in short; one pack of the gorgeous chunky cork hearts from SpiegelMom Scraps, some two way glue (I used Tombow) and some foil or gold leaf. I'm really pleased with how they turned out.  I experimented with polka dots and a bigger smudge of glue too...   For my first layout using these blinged up hearts I used My Mind's Eye's On Trend 2 collection that came in my recent like for ever scrapbooking kit.  I added in a few of my hearts and some gold sequins . I'm not keen on my journalling showing so I made a little pocket to hide a journalling card in.  I always have some glassine bags on hand.  You can easily change the size with  few lines of sewing. I was aiming for a band...

Love Is All You Need

Another from this months like for ever kit.  (And two in a row not on a white background!!) I picked up some empty tea bags... I think they are meant to be for making your own blend of tea but I'll be using them to add confetti and sequins and little bits'n'bobs to my layouts! The wood veneer tag had a coat of tombow multi and when it was dry I added some metal leaf.  I love the way it has turned out. All the tags had a little piece of 3mm grosgrain threaded through them. And that wonderful gold heart vellum pulling it all together.  Lovely lovely vellum!! I think if I am honest it took a while to get in this kit as there is a lot of pink and was afraid to use it with 'boy pictures' - but this works.  It's all about balancing it, that's the key.  We know what the next kit/supplies are and it has a fair amount of pink too, but somehow I don't think I'll struggle so much... A Little Brag!

Well, I'm only guest designer at Quirky Crafts for the next fortnight :) Look, I got a badge to prove it!! We were given a set of digi's.  Bleurgh, I don't like digi's... but I did enjoy using these so maybe things are changing!  They are from Crackerbox Palace. I made an art journal page with a Spanish vineyard feel... I used gesso, pro markers, Indian ink, art bars, spray inks, water colour pencils and metal leaf. Thanks for stopping by!

Georgie Bun

Here is a layout of my lovely bun George.  Poor boy, we were told he was a girl so we originally called him Martha.  Anyhoo, turned out he was a boy, was renamed and was very confused for the rest of his life!! I had a few bits saved that I wanted to include; a card from the vets, the name tag from his hutch and a clothes label that says George.  I was also determined to include a rabbit paper clip. Now that my supplies are reorganised I'm trying to use things that were forgotten.  I pulled out some metal leaf, unsure how to use it properly I made it up as I went along :) I used my tombow multi in random swirls and squiggles on the background and waited for it to go tacky.  Them I plonked the leaf on top and tickled it with a soft brush.  I can't tell you how pleased I am with how it turned out and will definitely use some more soon.
