So far they have released two critically acclaimed CDs (Tubesnakes 1998 and Texas minded 2001) and they are a popular live band. Tubesnakes consists of: Lars Vad (guitar / vocals) Johnny Stensletten (bass) Per Inge Stensletten (drums / percussion) Per Kenneth Hauan (organ / piano)

'Texas minded' was partly recorded in Austin,TX. in October 2001, starring two great guitar players – Alan Haynes and John McVey. Grammy winning studio engineer: Mark Nathan.
The rest of the songs were recorded in Norway, at “Lydloftet Studio” in Ølen, Norway.

Alan Haynes (February 19, 1956), born in Houston, Texas, is an American Texas Blues guitarist. Alan has been playing professionally since the 1970s and has performed with a variety of Blues legends that include Stevie Ray Vaughan, Johnny Winter, Albert Collins, Albert King, The Fabulous Thunderbirds (1980's version with Jimmie Vaughan), Robert Cray, Bonnie Raitt, John Lee Hooker, and Otis Rush among others. He now resides in Austin, Texas and plays locally in and around Texas' major cities, especially Houston (where he performs nearly every month), occasionally in Dallas and Fort Worth, and also Europe, where he has a large following in Scandinavian countries, Germany, Denmark and Israel.

Jo Ann Kelly - Tramp 1974 {Out of Print}

Back from The Dead...by Request
Originally posted January 1, 2015

Jo Ann Kelly - Tramp 1974
(Reissued 2000)
Studio Recordings @192
{Out of Print}

The British blues singer/guitarist Jo-Anne Kelly (1944-90) was a little-known treasure. She was a member of the same generation of musicians as the Rolling Stones, but she was more interested in reviving prewar country blues than in popularizing postwar electric blues. Jo-Anne sat in with the Yardbirds in early in their early Clapton days, had a long association with The Groundhogs, and in the 1970s did a stint in the blues-rock band Tramp. But mostly she played acoustic guitar and performed in folk music clubs. She was a regular support act for American blues musicians of an older generation touring England, such as Fred McDowell and Big Joe Williams.
Jo-Anne didn't record much, and her records were hard to find in the shops - certainly in my country(Australia). Those that that I did lay my hands on revealed a powerful voice and a driving, rhythmic guitar style. Her heroine was Memphis Minnie.

Digitally remastered 2001. A great mix of previously unreleased & rare live & studio sessions (14 tracks, over 65 minutes of music). Features contributions from Fleetwood Mac's Danny Kirwan, plus Keef Hartley, Bob Brunning & Bob Hall. Tracks 9-14 feature Danny Kirwan.

Track List:
1. Til My Back Ain't Got No Bone
2. Love Blind
3. Nicki Hoeky

Brainticket - Cottonwoodhill {1971}

Back From The Dead...
Originally posted May 14, 2015

OK, back to the WAYBACK machine. Don't forget to strap in your BRAINS!!

Brain Ticket - Cottonwood Hill
Studio Recordings @ 320
{Out of Print}

 Brainticket is the brainchild of Joel Vandroogenbroeck, a Belgian based in Switzerland who grew up studying classical piano before switching to jazz. He received the Art Tatum prize as “youngest jazz pianist” at the tender age of fifteen, and was soon touring around Europe and Africa. By 1967, Joel was still playing jazz but he found new inspiration in the sounds emanating from German krautrock artists Amon Duul II, Can and Tangerine Dream.

Under the influence of these groups, Joel and guitarist Ron Byer recruited drummer Wolfgang Paap and formed the trio that would become Brainticket. The group’s 1971 debut album Cottonwoodhill immediately ran into a storm of controversy for its association with psychedelic drugs. The album came with a warning label that insisted you should “only listen once a day to this record. Your brain might be destroyed,” which led to the album being banned in several countries including the USA.

...brain fuck on full blast

The Flesh Eaters formed in the late 1970s, the brainchild of Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter and postpunk poet Chris Desjardins, a.k.a. Chris D. Brooding and dark with often morbid lyrics, his unique vision and the group's raw, roots-based sound fused disparate American idioms including rock, rockabilly, garage punk, blues, jazz and more. Their 1981 tour de force A MINUTE TO PRAY, A SECOND TO DIE is a riveting sonic blast featuring Chris D. and a who's who of iconic L.A. players including X's John Doe and DJ Bonebrake, Dave Alvin and Bill Bateman of Blasters fame and Steve Berlin, a Blasters and Los Lobos alum. Stand-outs including “See You In The Boneyard” and “Digging My Grave” are more than ready for their encore.

Track List:
1. Digging My Grave
2. Pray Til You Sweat
3. River of Fever
4. Satan's Stomp
5. See You in the Boneyard
6. So Long

Bang Bang Machine - Eternal Happiness (1994)

Bang Bang Machine - Eternal Happiness
Studio soundboard @192
Out Of Print

$30 used at the 'Zon

The creators of the immortal "Geek Love" returned in 1994 with a full length debut album.

In 1992, "Geek Love" had topped John Peel's 'Festive Fifty'. A glorious, life changing song, we all waited with baited breath for a follow-up. When it eventually came, it was clear the band weren't about to produce another "Geek Love", and even fans turned their backs on the group - a group that had minimal distribution and never sold any records anyway. Actually getting a copy of "Geek Love" has taken many fans a good ten years plus, so thank heavens for the Internet is all I can say, it sure makes it a lot easier to track down such things.

Listening to Eternal Happiness all these years later just makes me wish we'd all done more for the band while they were still around. For this is a fabulous album, "Geek Love" or no "Geek Love". Were Eternal Happiness released as a new album today, we'd all be ranting and raving about it. It certainly beats Kasabian, Yeah Yeah Yeahs or whatever other mediocrity the music press is currently raving about.

When the album kicks off with "Technologica", fans of "Geek Love" will immediately spot the differences. There's a deep, very danceable bass groove. Still, the phased guitars are there and the immortal vocals of lead singer Elizabeth. Guitarist Steve Eagles gets going a little later in the track, but it's the vocals that add the icing on the cake. Less wispy than on "Geek Love", this time round Elizabeth adds a bit of steel aka Siouxsie Sioux to her vocal approach. Only slight mind, but it's there. "Technologica" is a great opener, and still sounds very modern today. ~Andrew Denning

ALL YOUR FEARS I FEAR I ONCE SHARED NOW I KNOW THERE'S A FUTURE FOR ALL OF US

          ################################################################

And now another contender for the worst song ever recorded. This is one of those groups you see on PBS during pledge week, where they get a bunch of old timers (audience and groups) together for a one night gala to sing their greatest hit. Doesn't matter if anybody from the original group is there or still alive, as long as it's an original drumstick from the original drummer it constitutes a "group reunion" I love how when the cameraman pans out to the audience, their swaying to the tune until the chorus comes on then everybody perks up and remembers the words, but only to the chorus. I can just see these old fucks (myself included) saying to each other "Hey... these guys are pretty good" even though it's some second rate bar-band trying to help us resurrect our youth.

Circus - self titled (1969)

Circus- self titled {1969}
Studio soundboard @320

Out Of Print

Mel Collins - flute, tenor saxophone
Ian Jelfs - guitar, vocals
Kirk Riddle - bass, guitar
Chris Burrow - drums
With:
Keith Bleasby - percussion (03,08)

Circus reminds a bit of the early Crimson at times, but only because the two groups are contemporary and to be classified as progressive rock, and Collins plays the sax and the flute predominantly there. Circus does not have a mellotron (nor any keyboard), and its music has a rather nice late 60s pop vibe (fortified by massive injections of jazz) with a repertoire primarily composed of covers, which would actually bring the music closer together to approach the first albums of Joe Cocker and Jethro Tull. A few originals are credited to Collins, including two ballads.

No not THAT X...

X - Aspirations
Studio soundboard @128
{Out of Print}

 X-Aspirations, sometimes simply called Aspirations, is the debut studio album from Australian rock band X. It was recorded in a single afternoon in 1979 at Trafalgar Studios in the band's hometown of Sydney and released the following year on the band's own label. After the album's release, the X's original lineup fell apart. In October 2010, X-Aspirations was listed in the book 100 Best Australian Albums. ~Wiki

My all time favourite live act in the 80's. I saw them about 20 times. The live atmosphere was always full on and regardless of their state pre-show they always came alive on stage and never disappointed. They lived a full-on hardcore lifestyle for many years. They NEVER rehearsed, preferring their live show to be rough & raw.~ mbenji (Discogs)
