Badfinger Friday Night In Laredo

HAPPY NEW YEAR FIRST OF ALL, HOPE YOU HAVE ABOUT A MILLION TWO MILLION MORE

To start off the new year, I have come up with an idea who's time has come. A worldwide protest. And it's not going to consist of rallies, sending money or any of that other horseshit. The nice thing about this protest is it's your own personal protest. Whatever has pissed you off, not gone your way, misdeeds, assface people, bullshit politicians. You can now join me in my worldwide protest. All our international friends who read this blog can participate too. You can engage in this protest on your own time too. "All right Sir, how do I participate?" All you have to do is at some point this year simply, stand-up or sit down. That's all there is to it.If some one ask you at some point this year "Whatcha doin?" You can say I'm protesting(Your own cause here) Ok I think this post maybe a VL exclusive. See scans for details. @ 224 Kbps

**Original Notes**
This is an uncirculated version, I think there are others in circulation. An edited version has been played on FM radio (without the songs that were not yet released at the time), and the master may have been stolen at the radio station. I don't know about the other versions, but this one is very good !

Some work has been done on the first track's level. The original recording started out much too loud, then went to low, so I worked on the gain to make it sound right (there's still a little distorsion in the beginning, but I think it is unavoidable).

Tracks 18 & 25 * are two pretty long sections of enthusiastic crowd noise. I left them so you get the whole concert exactly as it has been recorded. For your listening pleasure, you may want to burn a CD without these two tracks.
Tracks 11 & 12 ** (fade-out & fade-in) were added to make a more pleasurable listening experience at the end of the first CD and at the start of the second one. When listening on a computer or any media that can accomodate more than 75 minutes of music, you can simply leave these two tracks out, so you get the whole concert in one go.

Danny Kirwan - Ram Jam City

Peter Green never had it so good when Danny Kirwan was there in Fleetwood Mac.  Here, though, as a solo artist after leaving FM, Danny has gone more for the country-rock material which would categorize Poco and others.  "Ram Jam City" in two versions (the banjo helps it along with some nice acoustic chords) shows this.  (So do the horseshoe-clopping woodblocks and the fiddle in version #2!)

Thanks to a generous source.

Golden Age spun off another hit with "I Hate My Generation," and the band toured in support of its release. After returning home from the road, Lowery began focusing on his Richmond-based recording studio, Sound of Music, where he produced such artists as Joan Osborne, Lauren Hoffman, Magnet, Fighting Gravity, and Sparklehorse. He also co-produced the Counting Crows along with former Camper Van Beethoven producer Dennis Herring. Lowery's work wasn't limited to the music world, however, as he co-starred in director Eric Drilling's independent film River Red (also composing the film's score) and appeared in another film, director Matt Leutwyler's This Space Between Us. By the end of the decade, Cracker seemed to have settled on a somewhat permanent lineup comprised of drummer Frank Funaro, keyboardist/accordion player Kenny Margolis, and the preexisting core of Lowery, Hickman, and Rupe. This version of the band issued 1998's Gentleman's Blues, a more reflective album that saw the musicians paying homage to Southern rock and blues. Camper Van Beethoven unexpectedly re-formed shortly thereafter, and Lowery began splitting his time between both bands, whose other members frequently joined whichever group was on the road. Cracker (along with select musicians from CVB) issued a live album, 2001's Traveling Apothecary Show & Revue, and Cracker followed its release with Forever (2002) and a rowdy set of country covers called Countrysides in 2003. The latter album also marked Cracker's first effort as an independent band, as they had recently left the Virgin roster. Three years later, Cracker returned (this time via the U.K.-based indie label Cooking Vinyl) with Greenland, which featured help from guest artists David Immerglück and Mark Linkous. Another concert release, Berlin (Live in Berlin December 2006), arrived in 2008, and the studio effort Sunrise in the Land of Milk and Honey followed one year later in 2009.

Captain Beefheart: Brown Spot Sessions, If You've Got Ears, Lick My Decals Off outtakes & video tribute

He was the most unusual musician, artist, and poet I can qualify collectively in those categories.  A musical platypus, he was made up of ideas that defied logic and sense, yet they all came together.  The Captain was a man of simplicity who chose a complex way of expressing how we should view him and his world--and we'll miss him for it.
V-C provided me the download and material for If You Got Ears; the others (Brown Spot Sessions and Lick My Decals Off, Baby Outtakes) are from the FBS archives.

Allman Brothers Band - SUNY Stonybrook, July 1970

The cover is slightly misleading:  the date of the show is July 1970, but the venue is once again the State University of New York, Stonybrook, in Suffolk County.  And this is for Gregg's 63rd birthday tomorrow.  Duane, by the way, was very enthusiastic about taking off his clothes for pictures during his Muscle Shoals studio days.

Great performance by bassist Berry Oakley and Duane on "Dreams," and for some reason, Dickey didn't do much of any kind of solo on "Mountain Jam."
