(I saw George as one of the opening acts for the Stones on their famous tour of 1981. It was a Sunday; there were finals at Arizona State University the next morning, and I had a choice: study for my German language class or go to the show. I remember that Mick climbed into the stands and freaked out the security staff; George was jumping and running back and forth on stage and wagging his guitar too. Great!!)

These demos are reportedly from the period between his stint as frontman for the Velvet Underground and the beginning of his solo career. The songs later appear on many different releases: "I Can't Stand It," "Walk It Talk It" and "Lisa Says" on his self-titled solo debut, I'm So Free and "Goodnight Ladies" on Transformer, "Oh Jim" on Berlin, "Kill Your Sons" on Sally Can't Dance, and surprisingly enough, none of them on the next chronological release, Metal Machine Music.
