Wow! It's February already! And 12 more days til Valentine's Day. I don't have a thing for my sweetie yet so maybe these ideas will provide some inspiration and motivation. I haven't forgotten that Valentine's Day is quickly approaching. I just haven't had time to do much crafting or decorating for it yet because I've been getting ready for a bigger love celebration- my parents' 50th wedding anniversary. I promise to share details and projects from the reception next week. I did manage to squeeze in a few minutes to make this heart glitter jar. I'm sure you've seen other versions around the web with paint or glitter. I had an old mason jar that has some sort of film on it that I can't get off so I though it would be better suited covered in glitter. I decided to add a few heart "cutouts" to it for Valentine's day. I grabbed my heart punch and some left over vinyl.   I applied the hearts to the jar. (See that gross film? I'm about to cover most of it up. Some of it was from my attempt at cleaning the jar and I was able to get that off later where it was showing through my hearts.)

I didn't get around to sharing all of the few Christmas projects that I did or all of the decorations,  (I've got to start earlier on preparations next year) but I'll go ahead and share these glitter striped votives because they work for more than Christmas. Matter of fact, I made these as a trial run for some I'll be using at an upcoming 50th wedding anniversary reception I'll be hosting, and used them on my Christmas mantel. I started by taking some 1 inch painter's tape  and placed it on a self healing cutting mat.  I used the lines on the mat and a ruler to cut the tape in half so I would have narrower strips.   Then I took my thinner strips and placed them on my votives.       I first tried this with two different kinds of glitter paints. I did not like the results, so I turned to good ol' trusty Mod Podge . Coat

Last week I tried out this fun way of making glitter ornaments. I love glitter and its shine at the holidays but not the mess. Coating the inside of a clear glass ornament with glitter is a great way to get the shine without the mess. I made some ornaments in my color theme- aqua and green.  You can buy a specially made product for this project or you can use floor cleaner. Yep, floor cleaner. I started seeing it on several sites and had to give it a try myself. Below are my supplies: Pledge floor care clear glass ornaments Martha Stewart fine glitter a cup for the excess cleaner a tray to catch my glitter (Mine is made so I can funnel the extra back into the bottle.) Just swirl the cleaner around in the ball and then pour out the excess. Shake in the glitter and coat the inside of the ball. Done! Easy! and so pretty.
