DIY Canvas Seahorse Art

Did you see my new canvas art on display with my summer mantel ?  I had so much fun with the chevron ladybug frame , I decided to do another painted chevron piece but with a coastal theme. Here's a quick run down of what I used: Blank 11X14 canvas chevron shape Frog Tape craft smart acrylic paint (Michael's) in Robins Egg blue Delta Ceramcoat acrylic paint in Laguna blue craft smart satin acrylic paint (Michael's) in coral reef Silhouette Summer Sea Life foam brush I first painted the entire canvas with the Robins Egg blue. I find it easier to paint the lighter color first. It's easier to cover with the darker. After the first color thoroughly dried, I placed the  Frog Tape. Next I painted the Laguna blue. I peeled the tape off and let it all dry. I cut a stencil for the seahorse with my Silhouette and then traced the seahorse lightly onto my canvas with pencil. I filled it in with the coral. This took several coats. I went back with the Laguna blu

Chevron ladybug frame

I've got a stack of unfinished wooden frames that need to be turned into fun usable frames, so I dug in and created this chevron ladybug frame with the help of chevron shaped Frog tape. I don't know why I didn't try it sooner for chevrons. It's great! I got a nice clean finish with it.

Casual Easter Tablescape

When I saw these fun chevron striped and polka dot plates in the Target Dollar Spot, I knew immediately I wanted to set up a fun tablescape with them. With Easter coming up, what better time to use them. I've set the back porch table in a fun casual Easter theme that would be perfect for an Easter brunch. You may have seen many of these items before- the napkins, egg candles and polka dot painted eggs I used as place holders. While I was getting the plates, I snatched up the fun paper straws from the dollar spot too. I got a pack of each color. I love to mix and match, and here I'm using the pink and green ones in some mason jars.   I used my simple spring arrangement as the centerpiece and a couple of bunny figurines to give it an Easter feel. Take the eggs and bunnies away and you've still got a fun Spring party setting.   Hope you have a fun and blessed Easter. Linking up with Tablescape Thursday and these fun parties: Think Pi

Fall Mantel with DIY Chevron Panel

I love the colors of fall and was excited to bring them into my home, but I wasn't quite ready to let go of summer. So just as I did with my porch and tablescape , I left some of my summer elements on the mantel and incorporated some fall. Here's the full shot of the mantel (along with the hideous tube TV and VCR, yes I said tube TV and V. C. R.  and we aren't that old or far behind on technology. We just don't watch TV.) Lets take a closer look at the lovely details: I left out one of the framed sea shells and homemade starfish and added some pumpkins. I made a chevron panel in orange to add a pop of color as a backdrop. My houndstooth duct tape pumpkin is making an appearance again. The panel and pumpkin will make an easy transition to Halloween. The other side features more pumpkins, seashells and some leaves on a frame . Below on the hearth are some white pumpkins and a scattering of leaves and shells. If you are interested in ma
