WIWW - Thrifted

Happy Hump Day! We're  half way through the week and it's time to link up with Lindsey at the Pleated Poppy for What I Wore Wednesday. She's now issuing more than just a challenge to get dressed every day. This week was to wear something thrifted. I have a few things I've thrifted and I must say it's quite fun to find great deals. I also continued the last challenge of wearing something rarely worn as Yellow Blackbird had issued the same challenge for Shop Your Closet . Saturday I had a hair appointment and later we went to dinner. What I wore: sweater, tank, shorts- Target; shoes- JCPenny;  purse- Tommy Hilfiger- THRIFTED $4.99! I bought these clothes two or three years ago and wore them a lot the first year, but haven't worn them lately. I had not worn the shoes at all this year. I would not own a Tommy Hilfiger purse if it had not been found at the Salvation Army. Sunday- church Dress- Gap via Goodwill. Shoes- target I found this dress at the Good

Tried it out Thursday- braided wrap bracelet

I made another wrap bracelet! This one is similar to this one at Henry Happened .  Instead of two pieces of cord, I used three and the chain. I just held the chain with one of my pieces of cord as if it were one strand and braided.

WIWW- Rarely worn

Last week Lindsey at The Pleated Poppy challenged everyone to wear something we never wear or something old in a new way. That's a good challenge that I try to do from time to time, and I still had some things in my closet that needed to be worn. Jacket and pants: Worthington/ JCPenny; shirt - Ross; shoes- TJMaxx; necklace-vintage/ ebay; bracelet- made by me

Must Do Monday - Make your own headband- 7 tutorials

I'm not a huge fan of headbands. I like them and get compliments on the rare occasions that I wear them, but I'm just not comfortable wearing them. When I do wear them, I like simple ones. I admire the girls who can wear the elaborate ones but I think I'm too old for those. Here are some I've come across that fit my style and are on my list of things to make.

Friday Feature- The Lovely Poppy

It's Friday again. I hope you are discovering lots of great shops from these features and taking note for the upcoming holiday season. Today I'd like to introduce to you Nicole and The Lovely Poppy .

Tried it Out Thursday- Ruffle tank

I posted about some tank refashions a couple of weeks   a month ago that were on my "must do" list. I finally had a free day this week and made myself  a tank based on the Loft inspired tank at Ruffles and Stuff. No need to rewrite a good tutorial, so hop on over there if you want to make one. I picked up the tanks at Wal-mart last year. My measurements differ a little from hers because I can't cut straight and when I get finished making things straight, I've lost some of the length and or width. Once I got my ruffle sewn on the shirt, I thought the same thing Disney did about covering the center with lace. I didn't sew my lace in a U shape, I just sewed a straight piece down the middle. Thanks for stopping by. WIWW- Mixing patterns

Lindsey added a challenge to What I Wore Wednesday - mixing patterns. I'll say that's definitely way out of my comfort zone. So far out that I barely found any patterns in my closet to mix. I have plenty of patterned dress blouses for work, but they go with the solid color suits, and that's the only way I change up my suits is by changing the tops and accesories I wear with them. I read online recently in a closet organization article to hang your suit pieces separately so you will mix and match them as separates. I think I'll be challenging myself to do this as well. I tend to buy jackets and pants or skirts as sets as I'm real picky about weights and textures of fabrics matching as well as color but  I think I could mix a few up.

Beach themed centerpiece and vignette

When I redecorated my mantel for summer with a beach theme, I also changed up the dining room centerpiece and entryway vignette. I didn't buy anything extra for this other than bamboo mats from the Dollar Tree. I used what I had and what was left from the mantel supplies.  I had planned to share sooner, but I'm just now getting around to posting this. Here's the dining room centerpiece:

Tried it out Thursday- wrapped cord bracelet

I tried my skills at making a beaded wrap bracelet. I wanted to use what was on hand, so I used some parachute cord that hubby had left over with 8mm beads instead of leather cord to make a wrapped bracelet similar to the one at Inspiration and Realisation .  I had to read several tutorials to get the hang of it. This tutorial seemed to click for me. Later I found this one and it seems like a good one to follow. Thanks for stopping by.
