Red Rose

Silly me, I forgot to mention that I joined the 'Creative every day 2012' the other day. Click on the link to see who else has joined in.

I made this digital creation for the Collage Obsession challenge - Red
I started with a lovely rose image from the Graphics Fairy shown below.
I had planned to design a repeating pattern for fabric with it but the rose wasn't quite right close up [for fabric] so I altered the picture. I moved some of the leafy bits and put on one of my own rose photos which I'd altered.
I removed the background and replaced it with one I had created, I used the backs of some vintage photos - there was a shopping list on one of them! The leaves and buds were the only part that was left of the original image, but the picture gave me inspiration.

This is one repeat of the fabric/wallpaper/gift wrap.
I will be adding it to my Spoonflower collection soon.

Mushrooms [CO]

I created this collage of mushrooms and fairy for the Collage Obsession challenge - mushrooms.
All the images are from The Graphics Fairy

A few years ago I bought some wooden mushrooms for the kiddy [me] but I didn't like how they looked so I painted them.

And I thought I would share this mushroom with you again, it was in my garden in 2010 but that was the only time I have ever seen them [there were 2]. The fairy is still hanging around somewhere though.

Girl with Roses and Knitted Blanket

For the Collage Obsession challenge - Sepia+pastel
I started with a sepia photo from my stash and introduced some pastel colour on the flowers and background.
Last week I also removed bags full of knitted swatches from my loft. These were not to throw out this time but to make into a blanket. My sister who was staying with me, helped sew the first one which she will keep for her own use. I've already made a few blankets a long time ago and given most of them away. If you're wondering why I have so many swatches  ... I used to design machine knitting patterns for home knitters, mainly motifs and these swatches are the practice runs.
Proof that my sister helped. She says she looks like she know what she is doing. The swatches are quite a challenge to stitch together as they are all different shapes and sizes and in some places they do look a little puckered.
