Slowly...
I get really inspired and start off like a bull at a gate.... and then I get bored and add things to the WIP pile (sometimes never to be seen again). But, I decided that yesterday was the day to try to finish off some of the WIPs
My older sister wanted one too, once she'd seen the handbag that I'd made for my younger sister.
So this is hers - finally finished after sitting in the WIP pile for a couple of weeks. Chunky black corduroy teamed with a panel of Ume Komachi.
Now, what to make today?

Slowly tickin' em off the list
My sister's favourite colour is purple, and corduroy is one of my favourite fabrics, so I've put them together to whip up this bag for her. The vintage floral is from a bedspread that I found at the oppy on one of my sprees with Tinniegirl. It was obviously on the bed in someone's spare room for a very long time - there's a quite distinct fade mark in one area where the sun must have been shining in the window day after day after day. What better way to give it a new purpose than to include it in a new bag.
I've given it a fully adjustable strap so that she can decide whether to wear it across the body or over the shoulder. Now I just need to package it up and pop it in the post..... oh, and I also need to make another one for my older sister who spied this one and now feels left out!

Tablecloths and Curtain Rings
I didn't have enough of the vintage tablecloth left for an entire bag, but there was still enough for a couple of fabric panels on either side.
I teamed it with some orange corduroy from a skirt that I had in the stash, and added some vintage sheeting for the inner section. The strap is extra long for some over the shoulder, hands free shopping action. This one is heading off to Liz.

Hoppo Bumpo Mail
I'd never even heard of these ones (yes, I just may be living under a rock), so Liesl so generously offered to send me a few so that I could check them out.
....and look what else was in the package....
Some gorgeous corduroy fabric (my favourite), some absolutely divine chocolate (I'm not sharing...it's all mine) and a sweet little card. All just to cheer me up!
Thankyou so much Liesl, it's just what I needed today....
Now I'm off to sit on the couch, read a lovely magazine, have a cup of tea....and eat some choccy...yum!

Finally! A pair of cords
I overlocked all the seams before sewing them too, so there shouldn't be any fraying..... and I actually remembered to add the star embellishment before sewing the legs together this time.
I did somehow manage to overlock two wrong legs together at one stage and had to go back and unpick everything.
They'll be facing the fitment test on Moo Moo and Nico tonight. They are around the same size except that I just shortened the legs for Nico (which means that they're just not as flared at the bottom). Here's hoping that they fit!

Channelling or Coincidence?
I decided to go through the stash lastnight to pick out some fabric for The Great Pants Challenge. I emailed Sherrin to get a couple of tips on fabric selection because I truly had no idea what I was doing......(thanks for those great tips and photos Sherrin).
I decided on corduroy because I knew that I had some in the stash from a recent shopping expedition..... and because Sherrin showed me how to match up the grain!
I recently joined up for a little pincushion swap with Fi and Michelle.... and in todays mail is this beautiful little pincushion from Michelle. It has my favourite colours, favourite print (floral of course), and corduroy (one of my fave fabrics)! The photo doesn't show it but on the front, the grain of the corduroy is perfectly horizontal, but on the back it's perfectly vertical...fab detail!
Thanks so much Michelle...I love it!
....and now for the freaky bit....this is the corduroy fabric that I pulled out the stash lastnight and left on my kitchen bench for today......
......only to discover that it's only big enough to make half a pair of pants (drats)!
