My creative space
It's been Bibpalooza this week...
I've been cutting and sewing and pinking and turning out and pressing and topstitching and branding and labelling and tagging and.... (that's a lot of work sheesh)!
I finally finished the fifty bibs..... well almost.
There's just that little matter of a pesky fifty sets of snaps that need to be added. For those of you playing along on Instagram (my username is @curlypops), you might have seen the hashtag #fiftybibs a lot so far this week. Sorry about that.
That's mostly all that's been happening in my creative space...phew!

The Solomon Sewing Leave Your Hat On Challenge
Beautiful fabric gifted from Liesl
I'm so glad that I signed up for Carmel's Leave Your Hat On challenge.
I've wanted to make a bucket style hat for years. In fact, I bought the You Sew Girl Kids Hats pattern at one of Nikki's Open Studio events in Brunswick about four years ago with the intention of making bucket hats for all of my nephews.
I wasn't a confident sewer back then, and I remember coming home, opening it up, getting stagefright and shoving it straight back in the plastic bag!
Sheesh! I don't know what I was thinking.... I managed to to whip this up in a few hours Sunday afternoon.
The trickiest bit is sewing the curves, but as long as you match up your marks/nicks (exactly like the instructions point out) then it all comes together perfectly.
My favourite part is all the stitching on the brim. You can add as little or as much as you like. I went to town and stitched and stitched and stitched.
You may have noticed from the pattern packaging that this is the Kids Hat. I just happen to have a really small head for an adult, so the largest size in Kids fitted me, but there's also an Adults Sized version.
Now I just need a day at the beach so I can wear it!

New Funky Flower Jewellery
I have something super special and new today!
I've taken one of the flowers from my Spring Bouquet fabric design and transformed it into funky acrylic jewellery pieces.
At the moment, I have pendant necklaces....
and super cute earrings...
I've had to keep a set for myself (of course)!
They're in the shop.

Bunting Loveliness for Gleaners Inc
I'm so chuffed to be able to show off this custom bunting today!
A few weeks ago, Liz asked me to create something a little bit different than the everyday bunting, to use as signage for Gleaners Inc.
I went away and played around with the design in Illustrator and sent her about a bazillion pictures and emails. Ummmm sorry about that Liz - I was just a teensy bit over excited about the design process.
Anyhow, I had a little sample printed, and then we decided on the finished design (which I love).
I totally forgot to take a pic from the rear, but I backed them all with vintage floral sheeting so that they're just as pretty from behind too.
I popped them in the post and....
Here they are!
If you'd like to see them for real, pop in to Gleaners Inc for a visit, or you may even catch a glimpse at the upcoming Finders Keepers Market.
If you're looking for something similar with custom lettering, just email me for a quote. I'm happy to take custom orders.

My Creative Space
I seriously didn't think there'd be any creating at my place this week.
I'm doing some contracting work which means early starts, long (for me) days, and major exhaustion (stupid dodgy lungs).
Thank goodness my sister came and cleaned up my
I dragged myself off that couch and plonked my bum down at the sewing machine, and very soon, I'll be able to show what I'm up to. It's worth the wait. I promise!

Then this one time... at craft camp
I was so completely chuffed when Nic from Yardage Design won the weekend getaway to The Retreat Woodend (she's a really good egg you know).
I was even more chuffed that even though I couldn't stay for the weekend, I was able to head down for a fun day out with some lovely crafty chicks (and Pam)!.
There were lots of different crafts happening, but I chose block printing.
Nic bought along all of the supplies that we needed, and showed us all the tips and tricks, before letting us loose with lino cutters and that stuff that's softer than lino but I can't remember the name of (sorry you can blame the lack of oxygen to the brain for my terrible memory).
Oh and just by the way.... I have NO idea what Nic was making. What was it again?
Put a group of crafty bloggers in a room together and it's always a crack up. There was much discussion about hair accessories and bacon. Not necessarily together. There was boasting and laughter about my Kirk Pengilly fangirl moment.
Afternoon tea. O.M.G. there are no words... Cathie made my two favourite things - her Banana Bread and Lemon Tart.
My moustaches. At one point I thought they looked more like seagulls, but I think I like them en masse like that.
Oh, and this is my finished floral panel.
Now I just need to heat set them with the ironing press and decide what to make.
This was heaps of fun and I'll definitely try it again.
Thanks so much for all the fun and laughter girls!

A Make-Up Purse
It was my SIL's birthday last week and I really wanted to give her a handmade gift, but it needed to be something useful.
A new Make-Up Purse fitted the bill perfectly!
WIP iPhone Shot
It's large enough to fit everything she could possibly need for a weekend away, with a separate zippered section on the back for anything that's a bit precious.
I'm a bit in love with my Spring Bouquet fabric that I used for this one!
