The Best of 2012

The year is quickly coming to a close. With a mere several weeks remaining in 2012 and, what with two major holidays at our back doors, I thought it fitting to take a quick look back at 2012 in photos. So many gorgeous flower images came to the forefront as I attempted to create a collage that I felt compelled to feature just flowers in the first Best Of collage and leave the nature and landscapes for another collage later. Featuring images taken from The Great Smoky Mountain National Park in Tennessee to Cave Hill Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky, to Bernheim Arboretum & Research Forest in Clermont, Kentucky, to Mustatatuck National Wildlife Refuge in Seymour, Indiana, I give you The Best of 2012. ENJOY!

The Pollen & The Bee

He's rather busy, wouldn't you say?

Two amazing specimens of nature I wanted to share with you today. The first being this very busy 'nature's pollenator' or in more technical terminology, Agapostemon Virescens. And secondly, the intricate pattern woven into a bloom, the yellow Sunflower. I took these images very very late this afternoon on my way back home from a trip to Bardstown for business. As it happens, I couldn't resist doing a late lunch at Isaac's Cafe at Bernheim and spending the last few minutes of my lunch hour taking just a few images along the parameter of the wildflower meadow. The meadow was sadly, and most disturbingly, dry. ENJOY!

Painted Daisy

A little painting rendition I did of this gorgeous Daisy I photographed weeks ago at Bernheim. I promise I'll get out this weekend and take some new images, if you'll promise the weather is going to be cooler. ENJOY!

Daisy Do!

Such beauty in such a simple flower. In a few days, I'll be heading to North Carolina and will be staying in Asheville. I've always wanted to tour the Biltmore Estate so off I'm going. But honestly, I think I'm going to have just as much fun touring their gardens. I'm also trekking up on the Blue Ridge Parkway to hike Craggy Gardens and take in some scenery. Hopefully I can dedicate a post about it later on. Of course I'll be taking my laptop. No matter where I might be in the world, I have to stay connected ,so I'll try to stop by your blog. Oh, I also wanted to share a tidbit of information that I've yet to share with any of my blogging friends, so I thought now would be appropriate. I had set a lofty goal back in the spring of losing 35 pounds. No particular deadline, just in the coming months. So without further ado, I am proud to announce I have lost 25 pounds so far and am so ecstatic, I could cry. And while I have ten pounds left to go, I say . . . no problem. Hope your week is going well. ENJOY!
