Hummingbird Encounter
Sometimes we only have a mere second or two to capture a wildlife image. In this case, that was exactly what happened yesterday at Bernheim before this Hummingbird fluttered off taking refuge on a branch high up in a nearby tree. I didn't see him feeding at this butterfly bush until I was way too close for his comfort level. The Hummingbird was really blurry in the original image, as opposed to the butterfly bush which was sharp. By adding a heavy vignette and softening the overall image the Hummingbird's profile appears more prominent. I'd not seen Hummingbirds at these butterfly bushes in the Pavilion area at Bernheim before. In the future I'll be more aware. Have a great week all. ENJOY!

Butterfly Effect
It's hard work getting to that pollen. You have to grasp on to any leaf, any petal, any stalk, any stem. Whatever you can find to hang on to, you hang on, while at the same time, digging in. What a job. All the while it's raining, the sun is beating hot down on you and the wind is blowing you to and fro like a puppet on a string. Yet, you just keep digging in. Again, what a job. It makes me almost glad I'm not one of these beautiful delicate creatives of nature. And instead, I can stand patiently and photograph them while they work. The weekend is a hop and skip away. ENJOY!

Chasing A Hummingbird Moth
and chasing . . .
Yesterday I spent a few hours at Bernheim walking around the Pavilion, and then stopped by the wildflower meadow before heading back home. I found myself chasing this Hummingbird Moth around a butterfly bush near the Pavilion. Have you guys seen many butterflies this year? Because I have seen so very few, it has me wondering what's up. Do I need to mention how hard it is to get images of a Hummingbird Moth, as their wings are constantly in motion and their bodies seem to be as well. I'll bring back my Fall header in a few weeks when summer starts to turn. In the meantime, the dog days of summer here in Kentucky are turning into the best days of summer so far. Go figure. ENJOY!
