A Lisette Continental Dress Sew-Along
I've been searching around for a super simple summer dress pattern for quite a while now, and I think (and hope) that I may have fnally found one.
It's a bit hard to see the dress detail on the pattern envelope, but it has a nice neckline and it should be perfect for my constant weight fluctuations with the tied waist.
For a bit of added motivation, I thought I'd make it a Sew-Along.
In perfect timing, the Lisette Patterns are 50% off for VIP card holders at Spotlight this week (which brings them down to $9), and the fabrics are 20% off.
I'm using fabric from the stash (because seriously, I don't need any more fabric).... but I did pop in to Spotty to buy the pattern, only to find that they didn't have my size.
So while I'm waiting for them to order it in, it gives anyone who would like to play along, the opportunity to find the pattern too.
Just add your name to the list below any time before the end of March.
Feel free to blog your fabric selection and your progress along the way, and we'll all aim to do the big reveal on March 31st.

I am totally popping in to get some of the fabric. I recently bought a few Lisette patterns but not the one that you listed. I'll have to see if I can get it.
Would love to join in, but that style doesn't suit me very well. Definitely up your alley though! Good luck!
I was only looking at these patterns in the catalogue. Must be meant to be. I'll join in. Will have to order pattern online. Plenty of fabric in stash too. Should be fun.
Fab pattern -t'would suit you to a tee. Unfortunately, I shall have to watch from the sidelines. Still too chicken to attempt anything wearable - ever since someone explained the logic behind the Full Bust Adjustment. AAARGH!
oooh, sounds like fun! I'll have to have a little think about it and get back to you, I think I should have the time!
Great idea! I nearly bought one of the other dress patterns the other day...and the yellow fabric. Love the yellow fabric. I decided I didn't really need it in the end though... but now you've tempted me all over again!
Well Cam, I'm going to have a go and see what happens. The dress looks very sweet and the fabric they have is amazing... I have two skirts cut out and not sewn together, so the optimum result for me is to cut out the dress and actually sew it together! If it ends up looking like a dress and by some miracle fits me, well... I won't get ahead of myself!! :)
I was admiring these fabrics last time I was in Spotty and the dress is very similar to one I have been trying from a Japanese sewing book which really needs a tie like the one you have shown. I'm tempted...I'll go have a look again at the pattern and fabric later this week and decide. Great idea btw. xx
I want to know more about this 'full bust adjustment' business... because I would love to make that dress but fear I would not wear it owing to my 'full bust'. Hmmmm. I must, I must, I must reduce my bust...
Seriously great idea!
ok so after thinking about it all day yesterday and then last night and a bit this morning, i'm in!
off to spotlight once i've gotten some house work done to buy the pattern and some fabulous fabric.
warning: i will be asking a LOT of questions!
a sew a long was definitely a great idea :D
This sounds like a fantabulous idea, Cam! I love the dress. Can I ask a question, the dress does not have a zipper, so is there a back opening to help you get into it?
I'll see if I can squish a spotty visit in before we leave Melbs :)
Ok, this is completely freaky, but I actually bought this pattern last week, along with a lisette fabric, and cut the dress out last night! So, sew-a-long? You bet!
Count me in ... Although I've got a different lisette pattern ... it's not too dissimilar .. can I sew along with that, or is that cheating ... I need the motivation to get it done x
I think I will be in... when do you think you'll start???
OK - you've convinced me. It won't be the Lisette pattern, but it will be something I've been wanting to try for a while. xx
I have three weeks of online art workshops, two best friend birthdays and a french film festival to get to over the coming weeks. Oh and work. I have no spare time in March. But it is so incredibly tempting.... dilemma!!! Right, so if karma has her way and I end up anywhere near a Spotty today I shall collect the goods and see what happens. :)
I'm in love with that dress pattern.

I'm in love with that dress pattern.
Alright. I'm in. So now what? I've never done a sew-along before. When do we start???
Excited!
i've made the Portfolio dress and my first version worked out relaly well. these are great paterns to sew from. I don;t have this one (yet) but 50% off at Spotlight - might have to get there asap!!
i am in! off to buy the pattern and the exact red floral print, really like that one!! looking forward to seeing all the finished dresses. thank you for hosting the sew along :)
Alright, you talked me into it! xx
OK, OK. I'm in. But I think me and the middle kid will be making it for her.
March is a crazy busy month but I'd love to give it a try. I have that pixelated floral sateen to make use of :)
You twisted my arm - I need something quick and simple to sew for myself at the moment because the sewjo has left the building - and this will be perfect! I hope!
I've never heard of this pattern. What is the sizing like/ Any hints? For instance I always buy the pattern size down in Vogue.
