Armies on Show at the 2v2 Tournament

Nothing quite replaces the spectacle of beautifully painted armies slugging it out on beautiful tables. There were some really good looking armies out there and I am sure was surprised at the quality of the work that some of these artists were churning out. I hope you will agree too!

Benson's technique here is flawless coupled with a good color scheme, it is no wonder this army continues to attract attention

Just beautiful

Eldar of the Craftworld variety

Thrusting Wraithknight

Those are some nice Sorcerers

Death everywhere

Andrew painted!

Mark's Spawn. That fella is creative

Someone painted this quite quickly but ended up in the hospital!

This is an amazing shot, similar to that Dawn of War 3 video!

This terrain was so unique and completed the table

Keith's slowpokes - he just plays really slowly....

Classic shot with IG tanks combing an imperial city

Jetbikes come hunting

Mark invested so much time into his conversions, unfortunately missing the deadline!

Luminator in full effect as his force take on Jason and Mark
Check out Jason's previous post for more details on how this game

Gotta agree that this table just looked so ace

Demons everywhere!

Benson's Tau just looks amazing

Slowburn: Month 2 and 3 Show & Tell

It is the end of the 3rd Month and we decided to meet for the Show & Tell on Saturday, 25th August at Titan Games. I brought my 750 list (basically everything I have committed and painted for the Slowburn League. Here are some pictures from the event.

My Blood Angel led by Corbulo and Lemartes

Alan's Dark Eldar and Harlequin army

Tze Min's White Scars led by a Librarian

Davin's Dark Angels also led by a Librarian!

Marshall called in the assistance of the Ultramarines since his Guard fled in the previous 2v2

Rico's beautiful Necrons

Just another shot of this army
Alan managed to score the best Story Teller and Painted award. It's too bad I didn't manage to get it!

Some of the astute among you will notice that there  are several players who have fallen to the wayside and failed to submit their completed pledges at the end of the month. I only hope that they are working for the 1k event. 250 per month is manageable if you plan it out. Looking forward to the 1k Event!

Month 1 Summary: Prologue: the Gathering Storm

Hi all,

this is my virgin post on ABO. Decided to start easy and share the fluff piece that I wrote up for the month 1 presentation.

Boss Nob: Badrux
Boyz: 18 shoota boyz including Noir, the Scout
Runtherd with 10 Grots (include Skarz, the lucky grot)
252 points

 Prologue:  The Gathering Storm

Amid the ruin of an old hive city on planet Shechem, Boss Nob Badrux sat amid his group of boyz where they were squabbling over their recent battle bounty from their skirmish with a group of strange ‘elf-dar’, led by one called the ‘Weeping Willow’.

As Badrux thought back, it was a strange battle with the strange pixelated elfdar darting through the doors and popping up amidst his boyz. Definitely very sneaky.

There was a roar of delight among his camp, as one of his grots, Skarz, was waving his lucky grot blasta, and telling those around him who would listen (mostly his own fellow grots), how he killed the ‘Weeping Willow.’

Badrux knew the truth however, as even as the battle ended, he spotted the ‘weeping willow’ pick himself off the ground and dart back through the portal with his fellow troupe.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Skarz – the lucky grot’ – claimed kills 3 ,  ‘weeping willow’, ‘dancing elfdar jet bike’, 'Sgt Manny of the Blood Engles'

Whether did Skarz really did kill the ‘weeping willow’ and other characters, no one knows for sure, he’s claiming the kill anyway and letting everyone know he did!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Noir – Ork boy’ Scout/ infiltrator?

Noir was a regular ork boy except that his armour got stained by an exploding oil squig and somehow the colour never changed back. This distinctive colour difference, means he ends up being ‘volunteered’ for the scout and infiltrate missions, including the over night stay at “Titanz Gauntz’.

*Post Month 1 note: The Blood Axe klan warbosses have taken note of Noir's actions and might have a role for him in their kunning yet brutal Kommando squad!

*image credit to Melvinus: regent of 'Titan Gauntz', otherwise known as 'TG'

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

‘Wotz dey after?’ he wondered and more importantly he wished that they would ‘bring bigger gunz next time!’
His attention changed as overhead in the night sky, high above the planet, a whirlpool vortex of light appeared, signalling a ship emerging from the warp. A space hulk full of goodies (and baddies!) on board!

Almost immediately a messenger grot ran up to Badrux telling him his liege, the warboss wants to gather all the boss nobs for mission to loot the space hulk!

Dark Eldar Army Showcase & a little "Color Theory"

Today I'm gonna be discussing about the problems with painting armies as a whole. Daunting no doubt, but very achievable if we prioritise the steps and compromise a little. This allows us to field largely "painted" armies. Providing us the visual treat we all yearn for when we play a game of 40K.

The Necro-8th Guard Regiment is finally complete.

This lot began way back in 2008/9. And as always being much of a hobby butterfly I tend to stray between projects and never really got around to finishing up an army. With the recent Astra Militarum  book released and 7th edition on the horizon I picked up my brushes and put the final touches to these guardsmen.

I will probably be writing up an army list for them real soon. Definitely going to add in some air support from my already painted pool of Guard models. Till then enjoy the pics.

Eldar 1850 Army WIP

This is fresh off the game I had with Patrick on Sunday. I thought I would share my works in progress including those I have completed. The game with Pat has also shown me that this list may not be competitive enough if I am serious about contending for podium.

Do bear in mind this is a work in progress and that I will change out stuff in my list as I play more games and gear myself up for the September GREX 40k Invitationals.

5 Dire Avengers and supporting Serpent armed with Twin Linked Scatter Lasers and Shuriken Cannon

Farseer Turendas

Wraithknight

Jetbike Squad Mear

I do need those Altansar runes to complete the canopies

War Walkers - currently on my table and is being detailed

Farseer Firanir

Jetbike Squad Geir

Both squads Seir and Geir waiting for their Guardian riders

Jetbike Squad Seir

Warp Spider squad Iyalith

Close up of the Spiders

Warp Spider squad Quan

Guardian Squad Addan

Guardian Squad Bennan whose armour need to be redone
The astute among you will notice that some of the models (i.e. Squad Bennan above) are quite different from other parts of the army. It's because I painted them 10 years ago and am in the process of updating them. I will repaint them once I complete the Wraithknight and War Walkers as this will allow me to field this army at PI, one of our LGS which imposes an All Painted or No Play rule.

A part of me also wants to do touch-ups on the Spiders for the contrast between the armour and mesh suit seem to be missing. A simple thinned down black wash and then highlighted back up to purple. Right after the Wraithknight!
