KR Multicase for Eldar

Like all gamers, I want good protection for my miniatures. After spending hours building and painting them, I want to bring them out to play and of course, not damage them on the way out. I have used KR Multicase in the past [look here and here] and have been impressed with the price vs quality of the product line.

So I thought, why not show you guys what I have and maybe send some of you their way too (KR does not sponsor this blog and probably should).

Bag from the outside looks like normal bag so walking into the office yield no unwanted stares

Pop open the top and nestled nicely inside the case are 2 cardboard boxes

Bag is sturdy even without the boxes

Pop them open to find your preciousssssss

These are the contents of one case

And the other case with my Serpents and Jetbikes. A really nice touch is the holes to which the stands can pop into. The Serpent stand however had to go under my tank since I based them on large stands

Pockets to hide these cards

More pockets for army lists and rulebooks

Dice and objective markers

The above miniatures you see are actually what I will be using at my game later today. It's 1850 points + extra minis (I didn't want my stuff to jiggle about so filled up the cases).

Hope you like the mini-review. I will be doing a batrep after today's game with Marshall.

Games & Gear Kickstarter Review : Pro Studio Brush

Overhyped. While I would not go to the extent of saying these brushes suck. They simply do not deserve all the marketing hyperbole that has been tagged to it throughout it's Kickstarter campaign.

Cheap? It's reasonably priced, although I could get cheaper brushes of the same or even better quality than these sans the Kolinsky material. Granted I got 2 for the price of one brush yeah I'll let it be good value for your money.

Good? Like I said, they do not feel like what a High Quality Sable brush should feel like. In fact I'd though it was something else if I've not been repeatedly told a million times that these were "PRO standard Kolinsky Sable Brushes".

Enough talk. I took these brushes for a quick test. And naturally I compared them to my W&N and Raphael brushes. All I can say is they are worlds apart. You really are getting what you pay for.

I tried the PSS version which was shorter and more "normal". The regular ones were so long and heavy it really took extra effort holding them to paint. I'm sure with long painting sessions that I will get noticeably tired. Ironically one of the "features"of these brushes were "fatigue free". Think it really meant giving you a "free fatigue....."

The brushes were alright to use, just that they were nowhere near the claimed "PRO" standard which they pitted themselves against the likes of the top dogs.

The control of the brush was just not there, and I probably attest this to the very disturbing weight of the brushes.

Don't really have much more to say. Well at least I have alot of "regular" brushes for my basecoating.
And I won't be buying any more of these that's for sure.

Quick look & review - rural church from battlefront

You've got to love a great piece of terrain on the tabletop. And no other game needs it as much (ok in exaggerating here) as flames of war.

I ordered this rural church as soon as it was released as I wanted to collect all the new terrain pieces from battlefront this year onwards.

When it arrived my heart broke as I saw that the packaging was destroyed. But upon opening up the miniature I'm glad to say that the styrofoam packaging inside the actual product protected it thoroughly. Unlike the previous rural farm houses, which came in a million pieces.

As you can see in the pics this is a huge building. Complete with space for an observer team and many units to hide within the confines of the walls.

Another great terrain lot from the makers of flames of war. Definitely worth the £19. Preprinted terrain at its best Value : quality ratio hands down.

Quick Review: Gaming Models Heavy Assault Tanks

I recently made an order from Gaming Models. It's a one man operation doing 15mm tanks for WW2. The main feature of his models are that they are an extremely cheap alternative to Battlefront's very expensive Flames of War models. And best part is that they come painted (albeit a very basic paint job, just one base color and a quick dry brush) these are great for those with no time to paint or simply just not wanting to paint!

I ordered mine unpainted (same price though!) with only a black undercoat. This was tremendously helpful as it cut down time needed to clean up the models and undercoat them. Once I received the models I went straight to my airbrush and provided them with a coat of Vallejo Model Air Russian Green. This was to ensure the colors match up to my existing tanks. Imagine those that ordered them painted. Simply opening up the parcel and plonking them onto the table ready to play sure is an exciting prospect!

And all these for an extremely low price of $5USD per tank. This works out to about $6.20 Singapore Dollars. They also have an offer where you purchase 10 tanks and they will throw in one more for free. Effectively making is $4.50USD for each tank. Considering a Flames of War tank costing average $7GBP ($14SGD) this makes it more than half as cheap! And once again I cannot emphasize enough the joy of not having to clean up and assembling the models. Its a luxury I tell you!

However with the price you should not be expecting Battlefront quality. This being said I must put into context that in no way am I suggesting that the model is inferior. In fact I honestly feel that it is detailed enough and look great once you apply a decent paint job. Take a look at the pics below and judge for yourself. If you ask me. I would say these models are roughly about 60-70% compared directly to battlefront products. (Assuming we take battlefront as a 100% benchmark)

p.s if you visit the gaming models web-store you will find that the blurry pictures do the models no justice. Which I feel is a terrible pity as it would definitely have turned a lot of potential customers away.

Here is an SU-100 tank next to a Plastic Solider Company T-34
Here are L-R, SU-152, ISU-152 and ISU-122 all from Gaming Models
Can you believe I paid $100 Singapore dollars for all 22 of these tanks? A box of five ISU-152's from battlefront would set me back $74 Singapore dollars!!!!! And that's only for 5 tanks!
Straight outta the box and the airbrush attacks them!
