This year we were determined to find some town where we could enjoy more then the festivities of our beloved city of Aurora...yes that is pretty much nothing except for a fireworks display nothing more...you can't even have poppers in the wonderful city of aurora and Denver, yes super crazy!! So finally we found it....we went down to Castle Rock which was only 30 min away (no worries grandmas there are about 3 or 4 hospitals on the way) In this cute little town they were going to have games, blow up toys, booths, performances like music and flame throwers, ect. and the best part you can have fireworks and there is a fireworks show. So we started on our adventure and the day started out really nice and dry. We got all kinds of balloon's, candy, brochures on things that we will never do, and Risa got to play some games
I love this Photo...you have to check out the shirt too....both of them were very fitting...
Marisa says DADDY'S LITTLE FIRECRACKER
and Seth's says PICKUP AN AMERICAN TRADITION
and they are in the shape of a flag but they are all old classic trucks. Man they are cute!!
.............THEN..........THE CLOUDS GOT DARK.....WE SAW THE SIGNS.....AND.....WE RAN FOR THE CLOSEST FOOD....I MEAN SHELTER...
But it was really handy that there happened to be a apple pie baking contest under that particular shelter...... I will say this was the first apple pie baking contest that I had ever attended in person. I had a great time watching....yes seriously it was great entertainment. I have seen many of them in movies and I always thought that they overexagerated everything....oh boy was I wrong...If anyone has seen state fair then you know what I mean....you had the ladies huddled together antsy ready for the competition to begin...then all of them got in there little groups as they watched as the judges took a bite of there pie...all making comments like...oh I think they liked it....or they are not smiling...it was so great. Then when they announced the finalists...you had the ladies that left complaining how they should have had ice cream to go with there pie and then it would have been chosen...or those can't be that good...etc. We also got to sample some which was really great after smelling them as you were waiting for the flash flood to stop. Pure entertainment!!
Man he looks great in a poncho...ok so he looks good in anything!!
After escaping the rain we went to a friends house and had a great time Playing Games, Doing Fireworks, and watching a great Fireworks show!!
I loved the moon that night and the clouds. It reminded me of something out of a scary movie.
